Oh and it wasn't a typo. You've always spelled it like that. Don't blame the keyboard, blame the fact that you're not very well read.

Are you a simpleton? The match commentators after announcing De Jäger was the MOM said they would have chosen Pollard. I'm beginning to believe those Neanderthal rumors.

So they keep a disenfranchised coach on Board to save double payment on what 5% of their cost  budget, and in the process put their whole revenue stream at risk. I have seen this Neanderthall logic before in rugby arguments. No trained businessman would even consider leaving a demotivated man in charge for 8 months.

Well bluebok I think you should assume something has made RooiAAS very angry with you. Could it be the references to him on this string? Nope even the AAS couldn't be that petty. The references to becs.....nope you have apologized after hearing about her medical difficulties.

Nope it has to be something else, because he is clearly angry....most often that has to do with me. So I'm guessing,  when you took the wind out of his holier than thou attack on me for using the term, "mong", might have something to do with it.

That exposed a decade of his calling me "moffie"....which clearly says nothing about me, but a lot about him. And having been caught with his pants down, he is now in the uncomfortable position of continuing this practice, but looking like a neanderthal as he does so.

Just a guess, but I'd put money on it.

Let me explain, although it's embarrassing that you need the help. It means, having made a bunch of nasty comments about the players and the coach, you collectively are  a group of such small men, that you would rather avoid the Board altogether than admit you were wrong. And the only reason you broke the pattern was because you spotted a typo......pathetic stuff  from a bunch of toadies.

Nobody is fooled by all that. This reminds me of the Bok RWC win in 2007 which was followed by total silence from you and Dave. And after a few days you jumped on the Boks were lucky bandwagon.

Today was an important test for the Boks, it was a close thing but any real rugger fan would recognize the honesty of the Boks' effort. Not you chaps...small.

No-one's avoiding the board. Why would we?
You seem to be crowing loudly today. How come? Is all this boisterous chest beating an indication of how proud you are of your team and it's coach?
Proud of a team that spent near on 70% of the match in it's own half, fending the Wallabies off.
Proud of a team that at no time looked close to crossing the line for a single try ... against probably one of the worst Ozzies sides to ever take the field.
Is that what all this loud, noisy howling is about?
Clearly your delighted with your boys and their coach. I'm honestly pleased for you. If that's all it takes to blow your dress up then by all means ... enjoy.
As for me ... it was just another poor display of rugby from the Goats ... no more than what was expected with Morne at 10.
I'll need a whole lot more than that before I go into a rapturous state of elation.
Once again ... congratulation Mozart, Blikkies, Draad, Shark and Denny ... and good luck for the encounter next week.

I did not watch the game on Saturday and unlike you am not in the habit of commenting on games I have not seen.    However, I did look at the stats and am glad I did not waste my time by watching the game.
Apparently the only thing done was to defend - there was not one instance where the Springboks in fact even threaten to score a try and nearly 70% of the time the game was played in the Springbok half of the field.
This was typical Coetzee Stormer garbage and one knows where that ends up normally - more losses than wins on test level is a certainty.
By the way our hero - useless Morne - missed 3 tackles and made 8 - that is real garbage plus and he caused the total neutralization of the backline - but who did h have outside of him?   The equally useless Juan De Jongh.

"I did not watch the game on Saturday and unlike you am not in the habit ofcommenting on games I have not seen."
Mike, how can you open with that...and then comment on the game? Seriously, some of the information in your comment could be deduced from the stats, but to say "Morne caused the total neutralization of the backline" is a comment you cannot make for two main reasons. Firstly, you did not watch the game, so you can't know what Steyn did or didn't do. Secondly, stating in the first line of your comment that you don't comment on games you haven't watched, and then commenting on a game you haven't watched.

     I didn't predict anything.
I was however hopeful of a Bok loss ... and an empty stadium ... but sadly received neither. If you can't even defend your own ball at the breakdown you deserve to be beaten.
How does a team that dominates everything including territory and possession come away with a loss? Has there ever been such a pathetic Ozzie side? EVER????
It's not a brilliant Bok win at all ... butt rather an Ozzie loss ... and no, the tired and elderly's only contribution was to ensure they stayed in their own half for 70% of the match. The never came close to scoring a try, in fact at no time did it ever look as if they could.
That's what you get when you play pensioners instead of the young and strong.
As I said ... had we selected properly we could easily have thumped this pathetic Ozzie side by 30+ pts.
I'm pleased for you and your cronies that you regard the Boks as world beaters again.
Sooooooooo big mouth ... by how many points are we going to beat the All Blacks this weekend?

I think Flo, Strauss and Morne had a great match. De Jongh not too shabby either. PSDT did well too. Morne defended well, despite the few slipped tackles. His passing was accurate, especially those long ones. The reff also missed quite a few things.

Case in point, the 1999 RWC QTRF against France -->Jonah scores 2 tries against the French in the 1st half -->come 2nd half, Justin Marshall distributes the ball to everyone else but Lomu -->the way he is commentating nowadays one wonders

He attempted more tackles than any other backline players and he succeeded with more tackles than any other backline player.
    Lambie - 2/3Habana - 4/1Kriel - 2/0De Jongh - 5/1Hougaard - 6/2Steyn - 8/3Paige - 5/3
Not a word about Lambie's 60% missed tackles. In fact, the only ones who made more tackles than Steyn were Koch, Whiteley and Mohoje.

Morne's pass ratio against Aus on Saturday - 58%.

Jantjies' pass ratio against Aus in the previous test - 45%.
Morne made just 5 passes less than Cooper (19 vs 24).
But yeah, sure, Morne neutralized the backline and you can tell that from a few numbers. You are such a visionary Mike.
Also, territorial advantage to Aus for the whole game is 60%, not "nearly 70%".
Also, Morne's "real garbage" tackle success of 72% is still better than your hero Damian's 65% test rugby tackle success. Take off your biased glasses, you're embarrassing yourself. Again.

Morne. Morne, Morne -  that is the refrain of idiots who knows nothing about rugby.   Must admit Morne's tackle ratio was markedly better than the 55% misses in the previous test that he started in in Perth, but far from acceptable.
The Stade Francais bench player cannot be a pivot that enhance backline play - never was and never will be.   As Hansen said they know exactly what Morne is capable of and they can easily contain him.
Coetz ee will be stupid enough to play him again on Saturday and it will be a huge negative and loss for the Springboks.  Attack in the channel and he together with De Jongh will be defensive sieves.

@Mike. There is nobody more fixated on Morne than you yourself, mate. Instead of having a go at the defensive effort if the entire team, you choose your pet hate, like you normally do. To make matters even worse you, true to your normal MO,  selectivity pinpoint one previous game in particular, once again without putting his effort in context with the rest of the team.
Your dead horse argument of "you know nothing about rugby" is at tbe least arrogant and silly. Kindly provide us with your credentials proving your superior knowledge of the game. I have never claimed to have a great knowledge of the game and I also cannot remember saying you or anybody else has no knowledge.

I responded on Morne because of what is written above - and point out that he was dead average and not a real pivot that steers the backline into attacking play.   For the rest I said that Coetzee's Stormers kind of rugby is going to lose more matches on international level than they would win.   Morne is adequate enough for such rugby - but useless for anything else.
Anybody who support the recent selections of players like Kirchner, Morne, Fat Fransie Willem Alberts and co must essentially be rugby duds.   That is the point.

"Anybody who support the recent selections of players like Kirchner, Morne, Fat Fransie Willem Alberts and co must essentially be rugby duds.   That is the point. "
    Oh.
So, have you managed to watch the game yet, or are you still going on the stats only. For the record, read this by someone who is actively coaching rugby with great success at the moment, albeit women's rugby. Having said that, I suppose you would rubbish his rugby acumen because he is involved in women's rugby. In any case, this is the piece that he wrote:

"I only watched the game yesterday, as I was at a tournament with my own team on Saturday. It stays interesting to watch a match, knowing what the result is, because you have no worry about an attack that you know will give no points to the opposition. This is why my analysis may be a little skewed in favour of the Boks. While I know many others may have been close to a nervous breakdown, I could watch it without any emotional influences...

I was also able to read the reports in the press before watching the game and it is amazing how the reports differ from what I saw and experienced. This is probably the biggest problem we have in SA. Our rugby journalists have absolutely no clue about the game. The comments of the facebook users under those articles basically parrot the bullshit the journalists dish up. Maybe two out of 10 comments make some (a little) sense...

    Now for the game.

The overall impression I got from the match was that it was a very controlled performance. More so than the journalist would make us believe. The Boks were pretty much in control despite the lack of field position and the lack of possession. The one Aussie try was scored after a clear forward pass. The forward pass was allowed quite often during the match (specifically from Cooper) and it made the Aussie team look better during a number of plays.

People all over also criticise the Boks for not scoring tries, but the Aussie defence was better than people give them credit for. Interestingly, for the first time in a few years, we saw a number of full back-line moves that also gained a lot of ground. We were however poor in the following phases with the protection of the ball, which means we lost the advantage of the original play. This is a result of us not being used to full back-line moves and the players don't really have a clue how to support in the phases that follow. Knock-ons and turnovers will become less once we get used to playing like that. The problem is that we will probably fall back on the crash-balling flyhalf and inside centre soon and we will not learn to support properly during multiple phases...

The main thing however, was that the decision making was so much better than before, from both flyhalf and fullback. People might think that you want an exciting running fullback, but Lambie was never in the position to counter-atack, due to very good kick chases. What he did also settled the nerves and the team never lost focus. It was a low risk game, but it is exactly what is needed to begin building confidence again. What is amazing for me however, is that Morne Steyn is still ended up at the starting berth, after so many other were touted to be so much better than him. It just goes to show that most of the other pretenders weren't what they were hyped to be... Which is also sad, because Morne would definitely have been a has-been in most other teams... Where is our Barrett (or Cruden). The fact is that we don't produce them because we once again think about "running" or "kicking" flyhalves, but we are too stupid to realise that we need a flyhalf that is able to do both things well. But that player should be able to know whento kick and when to run...Morne is not the full package, but he is in fact still the best we have... Sad indeed!!!

Getting back to the start of this opinion: And this is mainly because not only the supporters are influenced by the opinions of the idiot journalists, but our coaches just like the fans, also fall for the crap the journalists write. If you want to coach, stay away from popular or media opinions and study the game. You are not going to learn more about the game by implementing the nonsense fan-girl journalists propose...

Just as a side-note... My team scored 209 points and conceded only 5 points in 5 matches on Saturday..."

Morne did exactly what his coach asked of him. And Mike if you can actually make yourself watch the game it might help.....what sort of rugby fan drills into the stats but can't be bothered to watch a Springbok test? Let me guess.....a stupid fan who predicted they were going to lose by 15.

Still, if you had watched the test you would have seen decision making and body language that were consistent with a man who knew his job. No slumped shoulders, open mouthed gapes as we have been seeing....but animated discussions with his fellow players and the occasional smile of encouragement.

Dropping Jantjies and selecting Morne was the right move.
