Lets look at the team who started in round 3 and then see what in terms of Blackadder's latest statement - the team would look like:-


15  Tom Taylor, 14  Robert Fruean, 13  Kieron Fonotea, 12  Ryan Crotty, 11  Johnny McNichol,  10  Colin Slade,   9  Mitchell Drummond,  8 Jordan Taufua, 7 Michael Todd,  6  Richie McCaw,  5  Scott Barrett,  4  Luke Romano,  3  Nepo Laulala,  2  Ben Funnell,  1 Wyatt Crockett


So what will the team look like this week - my guess - changes highlighted:-

Please note I also highlighted the positional changes I foresee.


Lets see how near the ma rk I am in m team forecast for the Crusaders.

Thats a lot of quality coming back into the team. You would think they will blow out the Lions who had to make a whole bunch of tackles last week.

 I can't see the Lions having the slightest of chances, but miracles do happen and all the Lions really need is a bit of luck and confidence.  Blues is a better team than the season seems to be indicating ATM, but the Lions were extremely lucky to beat them. I can't see the Crusaders letting this slip.

 My point of view is simply this - if the Crusaders cannot beat the Lions - they might as well admit that the Season is over for them.   I think they will beat the Lions convincingly even though some of their greats may not be fully matchfit.   
On the whole they must hope that as the season goes on they do not have injury problems among the highlighted players - the rest of their squad is clearly not good enough to carry them through to the final stages of the competition.

I believe the Lions are still a quality side and may come away with another win away from home, they have improved from the previous weeks. Jantjies is in decent form and has been sparking the backline, Kriel and Whiteley can always cause problems for the opposition as well.

The Crusaders forwards are not very formidable. They also have some weaknesses that can be exploited in the backs.

 @mike,

Colin Slade will very probably play instead of T. Taylor at FB. Andy Ellis came from the bench against the chiefs but he'll probably start at 9. Owen Franks is avalaible after his banning so IMO the team will be something like:

I did not put in Owen Franks since I thought his ban is still valid for another week - but is probably wrong.   They may play Slade at full back because of the frailty of Dan Carter and in case his goal kicking does not go astray.   However, I think you team is probably spot on.

 @mike,
you weren't so wrong, this next weekend had to be Franks' second week ban but the team alleged that he was going to play club rugby during the bye week and it was admited. The saders did what they had to do what I cannot understand is why it was admited taking into account that the AB players are going to be rested during the SR campaign to reduce the workload it has no sense to say that he was going to play club rugby but......
