"According to Sport24 readers, Heyneke Meyer's decision to remove himself from the Springbok coaching equation is good news for South African rugby.
It had become a matter of 'when' and not 'if' Meyer would part ways with the Boks, and Sport24 had asked readers via an online poll what they wanted to see happen in the Bok hot-seat.
We gave them three options ...
1. Heyneke Meyer must stay on as coach!
2. Allister Coetzee ticks all the boxes for me.
3. We need some New Zealand influence. John Mitchell or John Plumtree please.
With well over 1 000 votes cast, the results were overwhelming. Only 17% of our readers wanted Meyer to stay on as coach.
But there was also some not-so-good news for Allister Coetzee, who is the overwhelming favourite for the post. Just 25% felt that Coetzee should be given the job, while 58% suggested the Boks go with a New Zealand flavour and opt for either Mitchell or Plumtree.
SARU are expected to move swiftly in appointing the new man in charge."
Th appointment of Coetzee would be a public relations disaster by SARU - bearing in mind that his support base is only 25% at present and in a years time it would be less than 10%.
I can see the stay away from test matches will be massive and that spells disaster for the sponsors from a financial perspective.
