Deon Fourie is twice the player and can double up as aloose forward.

Wake up Meyer this was something of a clanger which will only be supported by one eyed sharkies.  However it does mean our captain stays to play Currie cup so its acceptable in that sense  as you have already grabbed liebenberg.

As for Tiaan give him a start - he is probably the next best we have when it comes to playing the abs.

I have t ocompliment you n playing daniles. All the peopel who have been shouting for his inclusion have been silenced and we can get on with matters. Play Kolisi and I will not be suprised if the same  doesnt happen.

Agree Beeno, but i think Burden was on the original stand by list. But ja also would've gone with Fourie

with lienberg's selection i do agree....but fourie's selection i am not sure off. burden scrums better where fourie is more a runner. burden has been playing some solid rugby this couple of seasons so i think he deserves it.

I think that both Fourie and Burden should be in the squad- not Liebenberg.

As a scrummager Liebenberg is probably the best.

Of the 3, who is the best thrower in the lineouts?

Burden has the speed of a wing, and Fourie is really fast. Fourie should be feeling really unlucjky though as at the end of the season he was the form loose forward for the Stormers and was playing magnificient rugby. Burbed in on the bench most of the time and better as an impact player.

The problem here is that Fourie is being messed about.

He should never have played at the back of the scrum.

ANy player who allows themselves to be pushed from 1 position to another is creating a terrible sense of being "a jack of all trades but a master of none".

That being said, Burden has been fantastic for the past 2 seasons. Good on him for sticking it out at the Sharks. Biz and Smit must hav taught him a thing or 2.

I also heard he has the strongest upper body in the Sharks camp. No mean feat when you have best willem and biz around.

I really don't have that many scrupples. burden ahead of Fourie Fourie ahead of Burden. Really Burden has played really well so far in the CC. maybe Fourie has just played that many more games at the Stormers. but the Pace and Explosivity that Burdon brings is second to none. Ball in hand I love this guy. Scrumming strangely I don't agree with carpet here. I think Burden is actually more Explosive and better runner While they are much the same when it comes to scrummaging, neither of them really that good. The difference is Fourie is the type of oke you pack in your bag and take to war. Where i sometimes am not so sure about Burden.

Well Burden was picked. Barring any injuries Tiaan will be on the bench. I actually would not have picked another hooker, but that is just me.

in the sharks scrum he performs well with the other bok props that is more the point i was trying to make. for that reason i also thought they might have picked him because he knows beast and jannie very well. in terms of his spead burden is great but fourie is also dynamic. either way i can see that we lose another 2 hookers so this is just another cover for incase something major happens

Fourie's French adventure Wed, 22 Aug 2012 12:49

Western Province captain Deon Fourie has been offered a contract by Toulon and expects to join the French Top14 club after the Currie Cup.

The dynamic hooker confirmed to this website in an exclusive interview that although he has not signed anything yet, Western Province coach Allister Coetzee knows that he is likely to leave at the end of the year.

I really enjoy Burden's play. I actually prefer watching him to Bismark as he scores so many tries. He will be a great impact player if he actually gets on the bench. I do feel sorry for him as he was now geting the oppertunity to play reguarly in the CC..For now he's carrying the drinks  :(

All three hookers mentioned are playing good rugby.

But I do think Burden is an excellent player, fast and always up with the ball and play.

Something that the Springbok forewards are not really excellent at.

Would be sorry to see Fourie leave for France as he does bring a lot of attacking play to each and every game.

No dumbo, Liebenberg is the worst hooker we have in the S15 - Burden should have been in the squad ahead of dumbo Liebenberg, with Fourie there as the back-up. Liebenberg is useless

snapster you are surely forgetting Kalie Visagie of the Lions - your other big punt at hooker.

Bwahahahahaha ou snaspter is struggling. Thankfully Meyer has recognised Liebenberg as a fine player.

How goes it on the Morne score snapster. Ready to admit you overatated your case?

Oversated what on Morne exactly - he was bog ordinary against the Argies.......what happens when he gets exposed against Oz and NZ in a few weeks, what will a thick prick like you be hiding behind then?

One certainty is that Visagie is a far better hooker than Liebenberg. Meyer has his hookers right, the best three are Bismark, Strauss and Chiliboy......sadly two are injured. Fattie Liebenberg will get exposed at test level, if Meyer dare bring him on that is.

Fatster ....let's assemble the real facts. You picked Burden as your future Bok 13, much as you now pick Taute. You howled when he was switched to hooker....berated the Sharks coaches.....said he was too small ! Never lost his speed, in spite of team views to the contrary.....was a great loss as a Bok centre!.

So now he  " should have been in the squad"????????. As a hooker??????? Man you are so inconsistent it begs belief.

And Moz you are blindingly stupid. Burden should be in the squad ahead of Liebenberg was my call - get it?

Burden was a class 13, has never lost his pace as evidenced each week - but sadly Muir and co cocked his career up.  The days of returning to 13 are long gone, the damage is done. But credit to his skills, he has made enough of an impact to be considered for the Bok squad in the absence of Bismark and Chiliboy.

My point on Burden was that he is a better bet than the useless Liebenberg, as are Fourie and Visagie - glad to clear things up for you as per usual. And for the record, I have NEVER said Burden at 100kg was too small for hooker.

And damn right I want Taute at 13 as do many including Meyer the Bok coach - he has already said Taute is a sure bet selection wise when fit.......just as JJ is and good on him

i agree with beeno1, IMO deon fourie has been the most consisitent performer for the stormers and while burden has played good rugby for the sharks, his time has been far and few inbetween, compared to fourie who has played more games and delivered more MOTM performances.

fouries utility factor out weighs burdnes blistering speed, IMO its good to have someone with wicked pace, but its better to have someone who can cover multiple positions with a leave it all on the field effort, a consistent high level game (something u dont see even from the superstars of the game) and his ability to do it in multiple positions. all this trumps burdens pace and FYI while its nice to have that speed on a hooker, i would rather burden tick off all the boxes on a hookers to do list, cos i dont think he has. his scrummaging is nothing spectacular and if he faces the All Blacks were going to eat him whole after grinding his bones to make our bread. his lineout throwing is not the best, but to be fairr, in his limited games, there was only two not straights that i can remember.

but that aside, hes got his opportunity now and i wish him all the best.
