The Vodacom Bulls are beefing up their bench with some critical changes for the upcoming URC semi-final clash against the Glasgow Warriors at the iconic Murrayfield. Bulls coach Johan Ackermann announced the return of Springbok tighthead prop Wilco Louw, who is back in action after missing the quarter-finals due to bronchitis, replacing Mornay Smith. In other changes, scrumhalf Zak Burger steps in for the injured Paul de Wet, while No 8 Nizaam Carr fills in for the sidelined winger Sergeal Petersen. Despite these shifts, the starting XV remains untouched, maintaining a solid core.
Francois Klopper holds onto his No 3 jersey as the team gears up for a monumental match. Notably, Bulls captain Marcell Coetzee is set to celebrate his 100th cap for the team, and hooker Johan Grobbelaar will make his 150th appearance, marking significant milestones for both players in this high-stakes game.
"It's a great privilege to be in the URC semi-final," Ackermann said. "We're up against the No 1 side, a testament to their quality. We respect what they've achieved. Plus, playing at Murrayfield is an incredible opportunity. It’s going to be an amazing day. This game is about small margins, and we're ready for the challenge."
The Bulls' lineup remains formidable, with players like Willie le Roux, Kurt-Lee Arendse, and Handré Pollard, who have consistently delivered top-notch performances throughout the season. The bench also looks robust with the inclusion of Marco van Staden, Jan-Hendrik Wessels, and the recently recovered Wilco Louw, ensuring the Bulls have depth in reserves.
