As I have already told you all...only those in Britain and who are British can actually get a Knighthood. Anything else is purely an Honorary Title and worth as much as making your own from a Cornflake packet ! It also amuses one that countries constantly slagging off this one and its archaic ways are the ones wanting Titles bestowed upon their countrymen. Do you fail to see the irony ? No ? Thought not ! 

As for Jonny, it is old news, Beeno. If he is awarded one, so what really ? Nice for him, if you like that sort of thing.

Sir Richard Hadlee was given a Honorary Title, given he is not British. Much like Sir Terry Wogan, who is Irish. It means little and is just given to pacify folk occasionally, you know, those from different territories or those from the Commonwealth....to keep them on side. It's good PR....and I can see from your response that it clearly works....so well done the Royals ! Keep the accolades coming ! 
You see they were always given to those who gave money or land or performed in battle or even did some dastardly deed to rid the Monarch/Pretender to the Throne of a rival. We could go a little further in depth with this subject, but I really don't have the time nor the inclination ! 
So please do not try and teach me my own History.....someone who actually trained in the subject for a living. It really isn't a good idea.

 Yes, we do gave a Rugby Hall of Fame.

This is presumably for his roles in Rugby and his Charity work though.That is usually the clincher. 
Believe me, he is far more deserving than most that get them these days....that may surprise you ! 
Then again, as he is half South African, you can claim a slight victory on the Knighthood front

It seems this was not a true story and he will not be Sir Jonny after all....I believe he had even Tweeted his thanks, so that is a bit awkward !  

Hail Sir Jonny...one of my favourites ever...an absolutely brilliant player with a great long career , Becs...he might still be young in my book but he is indeed a true, really old fashioned Englishman...a great and pleasant man that's done England and rugby well.

Well Becs if this is just one of these hyped up lying rumours it's a bad joke of no taste...he certainly deserves it and has accredited himself far more than Elton John, Paul Mc Cartney and others did for England.

A lot of the List has been leaked, his name was on the List too and papers have even written their articles about him...Arise Sir Jonny and all that.He Tweeted yesterday about how he was less deserving than so many etc. But it appears he may well have been duped too ! He should have known as one is approached a while in advance and asked if one wishes to accept or decline. If he hasn't been, then that should be a clue !! 
I have met him and he is a nice chap. It was shortly after the WC win and I felt so sorry for the boy ! The fuss over him was ridiculous. Funny story but my brothers then fiancée was madly in love with him so I took her with me to her very first Rugby match. She loved it, is a lifelong Football girl, and, afterwards, we met Jonny Wilkinson. Can you believe that she chucked her engagement ring at me, before she was introduced, as she put it " just in case " ???!!!!  She had the best time and, unfortunately, he didn't propose to her....nor did her marriage to my brother work out  But, all I can say is I helped her achieve a goal in life and he was as she expected. Really nice...so was his brother ! 
I have to say that he was a very good player but he really was not the best by a long shot. He had to be told what to do so much by so many players around him and that really stood out for me. The team was just that....a team. It is unfortunate it became so much about him. His work ethic bordered on the obsessive....he truly is a perfectionist and he is incredibly brave. I do have a massive amount of respect and admiration for him. He is also polite to a fault and I do not  know how he coped with the ridiculous amount of attention and Hero worship he was getting all the time. It was ridiculous. I just felt so sorry for him. 
He does have an MBE...I think ? I'm sure he'll get something else one day, if he hadn't got that this year ! 
Some of the women who won the RWC have been awarded something....so that is nice, for a change ! 

Nice and interesting post Becs, well I've always rated him...strange, we all differ...Saffex doesn't regard Ritchie Mc Caw as a great...must have different glasses...anyway Jonny by your description has great qualities of note, especially his humility which is fairly rare in Poms today...

 If JW does not get Knighted then I cannot think of any Pom sportsman that should get that honour bestowed on them......present or past.
An excellent example of a sportsman and a gentlemen in my opinion.

 Beeno the two All Blacks who got Knighted received their knighthoods from the Prime Minister of New Zealand.
Not sure if that carries the same honour and respect as the English version.

 He is not going to be Knighted, Arthur John. It was a false story and one even his representatives seem to have fallen for. All a tad embarrassing really.....
As for the NZ Knighthoods....I have explained this so many times.No, they are Honorary Titles. They are not real Knighthoods; they can only be bestowed by a Monarch to someone British. Anything else is just a token and these were not even awarded by a member of Royalty. So they are completely void, really. A Knighthood in name only. As I said, they mean as much as something made from a Cornflake packet ! You might as well call yourself Sir Arthur John...it means as much !
