World's best paid Rugby Player

'Cape Town - Former All Black utility back Charles Piutau is reportedly set to become the world’s highest paid player when he joins English club Bristol next year. According to The Telegraph, Piutau will earn £1 million (about R17m) per season, with the English publication saying this will make him the game’s greatest earner. Piutau played 16 Tests for the All Blacks between 2013 and 2015, but gave up the right to be picked for his country when he signed an overseas deal. He joined Irish side Ulster in 2015, but they weren’t able to include him in their squad last season as their foreign allocation was full. The burly back then signed a one-season contract with English Premiership club Wasps, but will move back to Ulster for the upcoming 2017/18 season. He is then expected to join Bristol ahead of the 2018/19 season on a two-year deal. Bristol were relegated from the English Premiership last season but have ambitions - bankrolled by billionaire owner Stephen Lansdown - to become one of the top clubs in Europe.' ******** A pittance compared with soccer, basketball, baseball and ice hockey players. You sound like you know what rugby players are paid in SA - and the previous time you were found out and really exposed as not knowing anything about that topic.   They are paid well enough for Etzebeth to buy a R6 000 000 home - something that could have cost him 20 000 000 pounds in England.  
Not all the players are chasing money overseas.  They have enough fringe benefits here that you do not even know about - not surprising, since you are clueless vout their local income in any event.
Wilemse would have stuck it out locally if he saw any chance of making the Springbok squad - same as Willie le Roux did.  But Meyer preferred the old farts - as Saffex puts it - so they may as well forget about the Springboks while we have Meyer as a coach.

 A transfer fee is needed to put the brakes on NH poaching .Stuff it why should we identify ,train and pour money into players to benefit the NH gits ? Put an age cap maybe to allow guys to make some dosh in the twighlight years .

Then again. Why should the NH prop up the SH players' "pension funds" without getting something in return? It sounds to me as though it is not OK for the NH to "poach" SH players but it is OK for the SH players to "milk" the NH funds.

Dan Carter led a disciplined life style as an All Black. He was a fine example to follow and did the country proud.

He never once brought shame to his team or country. I think he's earned the right to live his life as he sees fit.

I lost a very good friend who was killed in a car crash when a drunken driver hit him. That was in 1982. I've never driven under the influence since then. Not once.

Hey CC, I can honestly say that I have never driven drunk. The reason being, I have never been drunk. That said, I think it is fair to say that more than 90% of the posters here have driven drunk, and have just been lucky enough to get away with it. 
By the way, I don't have any issue with alcohol whatsoever, I just don't drink myself. Didn't like the taste when I was a kid experimenting, and pretty much left it at that. No moral reasoning behind my decision.
