World S wimming Championship - SA performances

 What did yer front roe drown ?

 Le  Clos won gold in the 200 meter frestyle - beating  Tirosov and Ryan Lochte.  He set the fastest time in the 100 butterfly semi-final by nearly half a second - final tomorrow night.
Van den Burggh wen through to the final of the 100 meters breats stroke.  Time not very good - he was the 6 th qualifier. 

 There are three SA combinations tonight in the Finals:-
100 meter butterfly       -  Le Clos likely winner50   metrs breast stroke -  Van den Burgh has a medal chance 4 x 50 Individual Medley  - Team SA has a medal chance  
I am optimistic about the butterfly race  - but  miracles would be needed to make the podium in the other two races.    

Is it not a huge deal that Le Clos won gold in FREESTYLE??? That is massive because freestyle is not "his" stroke. Well done boytjie!

 He is now going for fiive gols I believe:-
The two already won plus  *   The 100 meter freestyle;  *   The 200 meter butterfly   *   The 50 meter butterfly.
SA was unluckyy in the medal stakes - t here were three instances where we were beatedn by a split second into fourth place.   In the 4 x 200 meter freestyle realy - SA was leading at the 775 meter mark - but was caught in the final few meters by the US and two other teams - literally caught in the last 10 meters.
Top class performances by our lads.
On the male side the US at last won a gold medal in the 4x200 meter fesstyle relay - no individual medals yet.    Also nothing in the female competitions.  Neither did England.    Australia th us far won 1 gold medal.   
Very happy for Le Clos - he did not get the award of best swimmer in the world in 2014 for nothing

 Now for the 50 meter butterfly.  Le clos won his heat in the fastest time recorded in the ehats - so he is through to the semis tonight.  

 Chad won the 50 meter butterfly in Championsh ip Record time.    Great guy - deserving being the top swimmer in t he world in 2014.
 Wonder w hen Mozart will start calling him Le Clod - the ol bugger is ea enough to do just that.

No OOm Chad is a winner.....I have no problem appreciating winners like Chad, Morne and Victor. World's  Best swimmer, best place kicker and best lineout forward.

Victor WAS years a go the worlds best line out jumper - lost it and is now a ducker and fdiver in line-outs - and Steyn - the worst flyhalf SA had over th past 20 years.  What a warped perception of reality!!!   

 Farther has a chip on his shoulder about Americans...much like the AAS has a chip about the beautiful Cape. In both cases one suspects, they were rejected at some point. 

 Chad won the 200 meter buttrfly in Championship record time and was awarded the Best Male  Swimmer of t he Whole tournament - what a Cha mpion he is!!!!!!!!

 Chad Le Clos is an absolute star! Went to westville boys high too!

The fact is he is a star - the difference is it has not gone to his head.   According to the commentators a fter he was awarded the swimmer of the tournament - he remains -
*   a perfectly natural and friendly person;*   a humble person who is admired by all in the swimming fraternity - his fellow-swimmers and competitors have the highest opinion oin the world of him;*   a sentimental person - who still cries when he is on the podium when the national anthem is being played.
The above are all characteristics of a star sportsman.    His way of looking at his sport and dedication to fitness and his own personal impro vements are what carries him through - especially also the fact that he is only 22 years of age at present.
