Would we be happy with Wayne Smith?

How many of you guys would be happy with this? Not as opposed to Coetzee. Just over all, and as a stand alone appointment for Bok coach? I don't know enough about him to have an opinion, but he'd probably be better than Coetzee and be 100% better than Meyer, in my opinion. It is uncertain why there has been a cooling of relations between SARU and Coetzee. SARU President Oregan Hoskins last Friday publicly stated that they will not close the door on a foreign coach for the Boks. However, their flirtation with a Kiwi could result in some heated debate at Friday's meeting. SARU CEO Jurie Roux will reveal the progress that has been made with the recruitment process in the wake of Heyneke Meyer's decision to step down last week. Smith, 58, helped coach the All Blacks to victory at the 2011 and 2015 World Cups, and also played a key role in the Chiefs' victories in the 2012 and 2013 Super Rugby competitions. Transformation is another subject high on the agenda. Hoskins last week took pot-shots at the franchises, saying they are not doing enough to assist with transforming the national team - which must have a 50 percent black representation at the 2019 World Cup, as per the 'contract' signed with government. There are some franchises who are not just unhappy with Hoskins' statements on the vexed issue of transformation, but also feel aggrieved about some other leadership blunders.

 
Rather give the coaching job to Coetzee. Perhaps even include Divvy and Chester as his assistants.

They will ensure that the transformation clause be strictly adhered to ... and then chumps like you can enjoy celebrating your demographically correct team.

There won't be any reason for you to pretend any longer.

With due regard to Wayne Smith the question arises as to a successor for Hansen who indicated that he will retire in two years time and then the question arises as to his successor - Smith being a natural candidate.   Unless there is some other candidates around - Rennie of the Chiefs being one - and Smith feels he is not in line, he may be a candidate.
De Koning must have heard some rugby gossip and come up with the above story.   However, we will have to wait and hear what comes up today or even tomorrow.   
I think that the story that the general supporters do not like Coetzee as national coach may have hit home and I think the sponsors will also make their views known - that being the reasons for the cooling of SARU iro Coetzee.
I think that Smith may be an answer to our prayers and I for one would find him acceptable - 100% improvement on Meyer and Coetzee.      

 CC, grow up & stop trying so hard at being confrontational ...... there's not a poster here that supports quotas ..... definitely not at international level anyway .

I'd want a New Zealander to coach the Springboks about as much as I'd like a New Zealander to captain the Springboks or play for them.

Too much to hope that it might be Ackers and yes, perhaps he does need a bit more experience before he gets given the job. Allister Coetzee is not a bad alternative. Don't think he'll do any worse than Heyneke Meyer.

Are you just gonna try to antagonize me from here on out? Kinda silly don't ya think? Mike, tricky spot for SARU huh? ANC wants one thing and sponsors want another. Money talks I guess huh? I read a little about Smith after posting that and he does appear to be a good option.

 I'll take Smith as a backline coach & Ackerman the forwards .

 Would rather y'all leave Mr Smith alone thanks .Us Kiwis need him thanks very much and lord only knows  what SA politics would do to the poor guy let alone blowback from Bok fans like with Deans [ talk about strawberries to piglets ,I suspect the Boks would be more respectful].
