Trip down memory lane ...toe ek nog 'n pikkie was.
WP Golden Years
Good times. Draad, ek dink Goggie was spyt hy het geduik vir daai laaste drie!
Draad
I was at Newlands for the 1982 final and remember the Du Plessis bothers tries clearly, Michael was a dirty bugger - that head on knee action by Michael was dirty and if it happened in the present era he would have gotten a red card and ban for at east 6 months,
That try of Carel du Plessis was a work of art and one of the best I eve saw, Note also what Rob Louw did in the move leading up to the try, Louw was known as the fastest loosie in the world and had ball sense as well.
I wish the people who wrote about Traditional Springbok Rugby could see what Traditional Springbok Rugby really entails . It was never the 10 man game that was continued for most of the last 30 years called by the less-informed Traditional Springbok Rugby.
The ball skills and ball sense of the players in the WP those years were fantastic,
The teams resorted to aimless kicking because old school Bok rugby couldn't break down the new defensive systems adopted from league. It highlights the true standard of this attacking rugby of the older generation. Sadly, after two coaches who implemented attacking rugby, one more extreme than the other, we are right back where we were under the worst portion of the Peter era.
Sadly for AO there was just two coaches - who implemented that form of rugby since 1987. They were Carel du Plessis and Rassie Erasmus.
Meyer and Coetzee was deadheads and not a coaches arse but perhaps they were,
By the way the AO spook came up with an excuse that definitely is an abortion of the real situation. First of all why call the rubbish we have been subjected to since 1987 Traditional Springbok Rugby when it was nothing of the sort.
There were obvious problems with the dearth of try-scoring and in 2008 World Rugby change the rules to allow for more open rugby being played and thus leading to scoring of more tries. The AB's was the first team in the world starting in about 2012 with playing comprehensive rugby based on the rules introduced by World Rugby in 2008. The system gradually expanded in competitions in the SH - and ended up in all four major SH countries being in the semi-finals on the 2015 WC.
In reality the situation did not reach national level in all four countries - Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and SA. The All Blacks, Wallabies and Argentina played comprehensive rugby by 2015 - South Africa never did before 2018. We were the last SH major country to get there.
After the 2015 WC fiasco the major NH countries realized their mistake and started playing more comprehensive rugby and by 2018 teams like the English, Irish and Welsh became stronger when they also started playing comprehensive rugby under coaches originally from SH countries. France was somewhat slower to follow - but this year became extremely competitive - probably the strongest team this year in European rugby.
The 2018 was the first Springbok team that consistently played Traditional Springbok Rugby in near to 30 years.
2018 saw a sharp regression in comprehensive rugby. The Josè Erasmus averages over a thousand fewer possessions than Meyer's Boks. Less than half the metres in many instances. Less wing particpation. More kicking further up the field. A far more rigid structure to control possession and direct it predictably around the field. It's very basic. The net result is that we are the worst top tier nation at using the ball. We've fallen behind. It's all reliant on high balls, and physical superiority and defence. Ende.
His story about stats usage is weird and totally disconnected from real rugby. Under most coaches in the past 30 years and totally so under Meyer and Coetzee there were no strategy how to use the ball possession and use it to enhance the objective of scoring tries through comprehensive rugby and the results were clear - plan-deficient limited rugby with possession dying down sooner rather than later.
The 2019 RC and WC wins put the situation into real perspective and we are back to playing Traditional Springbok Rugby at last,
If you are going to compare tries, you have to put it in context of the rate of tries scored at that time for all teams. Did I not chart out tries scored for every RC season? Yes, yes I did. What did I show? That tries have been increasing each season, there was a sharp increase in attacking figures after 2015 for all teams. That was a trend of the game, attack got on top of defence. In fact, tackle stats have been regressing each year steadily. You don't acknowledge this because you are a liar. You lie through your gaping liar hole. But what do we see? We look at overall attack figures, and we start to see patterns emerge. The Boks under Meyer and Coetzee used the ball. Over a thousand possessions more in 2015 than 2019. How does a team achieve over a thousand possessions if they are using the ball less? Over double the metres. I have posed this question to you well over two dozen times, but still you persist with your nonsense. Why? Because you are a liar. Others say you are simply a very stupid person, I believe that you merely have no integrity and couldn't tell the truth even accidentally.
The Boks are the same boring team that Jose created at the Stormers. According to your own criteria, Jose is a "donkey idiot thinker" and killer of the careers of Willie and Pollard. You need to put much more thought into this next time. You won't, because you are a liar with no character or integrity.
You have nothing added just another proof that you lied earlier, Lets quote him on that one:-
'The teams resorted to aimless kicking because old school Bok rugby couldn't break down the new defensive systems adopted from league.
Now the number of tries scored through the years increased. When you compare the tries scored since 2012 and 2017 what was the increase? I compared two things that showed the rugby played in those years was a farce - continuous losing what can be called extremely boring and finding the way to lose matches was amazing, I compared the tries scored in 2012 and 2018 and also 2015 and 2019 and found that the Springboks in 2018 and 2019 were champions ahead of the two deadheads who coached the Boks in those years,
The fact is that Meyer was not a worthwhile coach - always was extremely questionable, After his departure as Springbok coach he ended up as the Stade Francais coach and within a period of 18 months destroyed the competitiveness of that club and ended up on the bottom of the Top 14 log. That confirmed that he never was a coach of any value and we can be thankful that he left at 2015 and prevent him to destroy the team and more of the players than he did when he was coach, No real game plan and total lack of knowledge of backline play.
The first time in many years that there were signs of comprehensive rugby being played was in 2018 when the Springboks started to be competitive again on the rugby scene. Springbok Rugby became a joy to watch again. The teams selected in a number of games were experimental and Erasmus gradually cut out of the squad players who were not meeting requirements in the playing of the 15 man game, In 2019 none of the tests the Springboks played produced boring rugby, Fantastic tries were scored by both backline and forward players and the 2019 WC was probably a special one from an interesting perspective when compared top other WC Finals..
Anybody saying that the Springboks is a "boring team" does not know anything about the game and is super idiotic. .
The only good game the Boks played was the final last year. That was it. There was no expansive rugby. They even looked toothless for large portions against the minnows. They had nothing in the tank for both All Black tests? And the only reason why the Boks dominated Australia was because of Esterhuizen, what a bitter pill to swallow.
You say you compared? No you did not. Do you have any memory whatsoever? Does this ring a bell:

I actually have more, but this will suffice. You lose, again. It's becoming rather tedious. In fact, it was tedious a long time ago.
You are welcome to believe your own drivel - but the fact remained that the teams in 2012 and in 2015 scored less tries than in 2018 and 2019. In 2015 the Springboks lost all three games and set a new record of a loss against Japan as well, while the 2019 team won the RC and the world cup.
It can only be madmen that think the 2019 did not perform better than the garbage that was 2015 team under Meyer produced and then lied again about the issue of game against the minnows takes the cake,
2015 minnows
Japan - Japan won the game 34 - 32 - piss poor performance by the Springboks
Samoa - 46 - 6
USA - 64 - 0
That means that against the 2015 minnows the Springboks got 144 points and the opposition scored 38 points - the points difference being 106 points.
2019 minnows
Namibia - 57 - 3
Italy - 49 - 3
Canada - 66 - 7
That means that against the 2019 minnows the Springboks got 172 points and the opposition scored 13 points - the points difference being 159 points.
There was another major problem in the 2015 squad and that was that the 2015 contained 8 unplayable players and after the Japan disaster Meyer was forced to play the top team players in every match, On the other hand in the 2019 case the teams against Namibia and Canada mlstly comprise of the dirt trackers in the team,
In the three minion matches the Springboks scored 20 tries and gave away 3 tries. In 2019 the Springboks scored 26 tries and gave away only 1 try.
Only village idiots will claim that "They even looked toothless for large portions against the minnows" whi le scoring more tries against the minions than Meyer's goats did in 2015.
No response to Meyer's total failure at Stade Francais? The latter saga confirms how poor a coach Meyer in fact was, One can only wonder about how your totally prejudiced and obstinate idiocy indicate foolishness unmatched in any rugby discussion on this site,
Got you cooking like a goose Lügnerin! Yes, from now on, I'll just paste those links for convenience. Totally blown apart you are. Have a nice morning...
Ahhh, don't be like that.
Whenever you are caught in your own trap of idiocy and get the reasonable and true response the next step is always posting non-applicable pics hoping that the subject would go away, Thanks for admitting that way that you are a complete idiot,
I just debunked your entire narrative with those links. If anyone avoided anything, you avoided them. It's over Lügnerin. You lost again.
Those links have nothing to do with reality and is a result of a ridiculous level of prejudice and total lunacy, Look at the results and the video's I posted about the rugby played at the RC and the WC. All the video clips totally destroy your BS in seconds.
Hos ja!
Dreaming boy. I have each phase screenshots, detailed info on phase participation on attack and defence, set plays, patterns etc. Trust me, you're getting into a nuke fight with a weeny whistle.
No Idiot Speaker AO. Go and see what really happened in the game of rugby over 2018 and 2019 -
* in the video clips I posted; and
* bear in mind the Stade Francais fiasco involving Meyer,
That will perhaps stop you from making a total fool of yourself every time you make a posting on this site, LMAO
