In a thrilling clash at Twickenham, Vincent Koch of the Barbarians scored the opening try, yet it wasn't enough to stop Wales from securing a nail-biter victory. Under the leadership of Faf de Klerk, the Barbarians delivered bursts of exhilarating rugby, though they ultimately fell short, losing 33-31 to Steve Tandy’s Welsh squad.

The match kicked off with Wales establishing an early dominance, culminating in a 14-5 lead at halftime, thanks to tries from Kieran Hardy and Dan Edwards, while Koch kept the Barbarians in the hunt. Edwards continued his fine form shortly after halftime, adding another try to his tally. The Welsh lead was further stretched by Reuben Morgan-Williams and Ellis Mee, pushing the margin to a formidable 17 points.

However, the Barbarians displayed their trademark resilience. George North, in his swansong appearance, emerged from the bench to score two critical second-half tries, igniting a dramatic comeback.

"George North’s final act as a professional rugby player. A legend of Welsh Rugby,"

tweeted Jared Wright, commemorating the moment. Despite North's heroics, including a conversion with the game's final kick, the Barbarians couldn't clinch victory.

The pulsating match not only marked the end of an era for North but also set Wales up with positive momentum as they head into their Nations Championship opener against Fiji in Cardiff. The Barbarians, on their part, continued to enchant with their flamboyant style, despite the narrow loss.

"A legend's farewell couldn't have been more dramatic. Hats off to George, and here's to Welsh resilience!"

stated Steve Tandy, reflecting on the intense duel and North's memorable send-off.

Barbarians: Tries: Vincent Koch, George North (2), Alex Nankivell, Santiago Arata. Conversions: Harry Plummer (2), North.
Wales: Tries: Kieran Hardy, Dan Edwards (2), Reuben Morgan-Williams, Ellis Mee. Conversions: Edwards (2), Sam Costelow (2).
