@Ceradyne, you are using human values to justify God's values. An omnipresent God should/would have values that are billions of years more advanced than what a human should be. So a God should never support any immoral actions that humans in the past believed- or provide recommendations on how to conduct an evil practice.
Surely a God would not support an evil act like slavery- regardless of what our human morals are in the past, present or future.
I am using this example, as it is what you provided. I don't have time to write about all the BS examples in the bible.

If this is God speaking in the Bible- the specific quotes - then God is saying that this is fine. (In this instance, slavery). Even though today with modern values were realise this is not correct. So are our modern day value system superior to God's value system?
Two hundred years ago children were used to clean chimneys because they were small, and many lived very short life's due to ash poisoning and who knows whatever else.
If the bible had a quote to say the children chimney cleaners should fear their masters- it is the same as saying God says this act is fine- or was fine. What the Bible should say in this instance is that is wrong to use kids to clean chimneys- not recommendations on how to treat them. (e.g. the Wood Carrying Class has been used to subjugate people for thousands of years....)
It is wrong full stop- so why would a God preach this- regardless of what our morals are.

This is how Apartheid was justified. The word Kafer means non-believer in God. It is actually a Muslim word from hundreds of years ago- originally used to describe non- Muslims. It justifies how to deal with people because they have less status in front of God. Regardless if the name is God, Alah, Budha, etc, etc.
The wood carriers placed was designated by God. However, God changed his mind in South Africa around 1992 ..... So it could be said that God supported Apartheid at least until 1992.
When you take a step back and compare one religion with another- it is easier to be more objective. It is obvious that much of the Koran was written by a madman, as is the case with the Bible. These texts are filled with human ideology and doctrine- and clearly written by people of the time. The Koran seems to justify terrorist actions- but it is unlikely that a God or their God would seriously condone this - or provide instructions on how to conduct the practice.
Not even the Gospels are Gospel- because Mark, Mathew, Luke and John tell individual events much differently from each other. The Bible is clearly written by people. At best, there "may" be "some" divine intervention in the very best parts- but much of it is certainly written by cave dwellers of a bygone era. It is then manipulated by religious people to support their own view of the world- by "interpreting" their own opinion as the word of God. The religious texts and "interpretations" have also been a means to enforce political decisions and policies- as we saw in South Africa firsthand.

“@Ceradyne, you are using human values to justify God's values. An omnipresent God should/would have values that are billions of years more advanced than what a human should be. So a God should never support any immoral actions that humans in the past believed- or provide recommendations on how to conduct an evil practice.“ The first that you need to understand is that God has never been a controlling or prescribing God. He never demand anything but obedience and respect. He does not even require anybody to follow him. He is not even bothered if someone chooses not to follow him. The only time that he kind of lays down the law is when you do decide to follow him. I have this argument before. Many people see it there duty to preach to and convert everyone they come across. Fact is that it says in Revelations 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. 21The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne. 22He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’ As far as the differences in the Gospels are concerned I can go into a whole lengthy essay over that as well. The long and the short of it is that they were written in different time periods by people from different professions and from different backgrounds. They have the same basic message but you have to bear in mind that they did not have an Internet where they could 100% confirm and check their sources. In addition the Gospels were written in different places/countries as well. The fact is that despite minor differences the central message of the Gospels are the same.
