This from the WSJ:

Congratulations to the seven Democrats and lone independent who voted to advance a bill to end the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. They put the country first. But the unbridled anger aimed by other Democrats at the eight is a sign of the partisan times and more bitterness to come heading into 2026.

The Senate was working Monday to pass a deal to reopen the government after the eight defectors joined the GOP on Sunday to advance the measure in a 60-40 vote. Republican Rand Paul voted no, as he nearly always does, but the other 52 Republicans said aye.

Which makes the cynical fury aimed at the eight Senate defectors all the more remarkable. “Pathetic,” said California Gov. Gavin Newsom. Rep. Ro Khanna, another California Democrat with presidential ambitions, told Democratic Senate leader Chuck Schumer to resign, though the New Yorker voted against advancing the deal.

These Democrats know they’re hiding behind their colleagues who voted to reopen, and who at least extracted retroactive pay for federal workers and the rehiring of those terminated during the shutdown.

Sen. Schumer and friends are playing to their base that didn’t want a deal while also benefiting politically from reopening the government. Then again, you almost have to feel for Sen. Schumer as he is forced to endure struggle sessions with the party’s Mamdani Red Guards. Every Democrat even considering a run for the 2028 nomination pandered to the never-compromise crowd. This is now the party’s dominant wing.

As for Republicans, they deserve credit for holding firm against the Democratic demand to extend pandemic-era ObamaCare subsidies. Republicans gave Democrats a promise to hold a roll call vote on extending the subsidies, which passed in 2021 with no GOP support.

If health insurance becomes too expensive, it will hurt Republicans in the midterms.

As things stand, most people believe the affordability crisis is worsening - despite Trump claiming it is the best economy ever. The stock market is going strong, but Big Tech are carrying this - but the AI bubble may pop. Michael Burry, who predicted the 2008 market crash, is sounding alarm bells with the accounting practices of Big Tech in liabilities and assets.

SB

The Health Care story is BS. Te Democrats dreamed it up to ensure Obamacare looting of the past continued. Thefe were $200 billion stolen by a core of corrupt officials and equally corrupt private practitioners.

The Health Department under the Autopen Regime was totally corrupt and the conduct f Dr Dah iss till unde investigation. The problem is the Democrats add to he problems since they prefer to pay medical costs of ilegal mirants ahead of medical cost of US citizens.

The situation was so corrupt that medicine prices became 80% higher than similar mdicins cost in the U abd EU. It was absiocally th e result of collussion betwen the Health Department and the Pharma industry.

Trump cut prices by 50% and medical costs of families plunged as a result. .

he real reason was that the Democrats were trying to sabotage Government Administration through riots and now the shutdown.

Incidentally the Democratns are divided between the center-leftist more amure supporters and the ulta-leftist neo-communists and the result is that with the ultra-leftists determine Dmocratic Padrty policies and conduct only 30% of the voters believe that the Democratic Party cnnot be susted o Govern the Country in future,

@DumbMike, many of Trumpanzees have the same position as you do.

However, they do believe the affordability crisis is worsening.

However, more importantly, independents are not happy- and they decide elections.
