"Of coarse they can...you don't have to believe in something for it to work..."

Oh, I see

It's only when I don't believe in something specific, that I am actually going directly against God.... but all other things are just there for me to have or use, without believing in a God..... got it

Plumbum if it is a test how do you know we passed to get here?

There is just as much chance we are here because we failed the test, it could be possible each time you believe that a make believe god  is the answer you fail and have to keep repeating the lesson until you become an Atheist.

Believing in Santa Claus does not make it true, but don't tell that to the adults wanting an afterlife for Christmas .

Where has God been during Covid? Maybe he sent it as another plague, just like in the Bible to punish people.

Very good point

My response wasn't for or against anything. It's a general comment applicable to many things, not only religion.

I believe very strong in your right to reject religion and not to have religion forced on you...and I don't like the practising of religion in public schools. I have also suffered people trying to force their particular brand of religion on me...I don't like that either, so I know where you are coming from.

VisKop Einstein was an agnostic. It doesn’t matter if religious texts appeared, fully formed via Angel mail, were beamed down or if Johnny wrote it in a cave while high on crack. What matters is, are you able meet the existential questions posed head-on or do you shy away behind immature excuses? Even if it’s complete bollocks, as long as you don’t know the answers, it’s always more beneficial to think of ways to make it true than of blanket reasons why it isn’t. Crackhead Johnny says that you’re a creation. How do you lose by entertaining the possibility and extrapolating, even if you ultimately don’t believe it?

"morality and conscience comes from God...if you believe in Him or not"

Fair enough, but then why do you specifically attribute morals and conscience to only coming from your God....

@Buttplug, Einstein said he worshipped the atheist God, Spinoza.
Basically what he is saying is that if there is a higher life, it is nature - not a person. He considered a personified God a childish pastime- and he was being polite.

Don't you think it is a bit of a coincidence that the smartest people in the world are not religious?
At least in the 21st century - when planets across the universe are being found. There is no excuse to think the Earth is the centre of the universe anymore.

If Jesus went to Earth to be crucified, it would stand to reason he goes to other worlds around the universe. What type of God would send their own child to be crucified for other peoples sins. It makes no sense. Just like punishing mankind for the original sin of eating an Apple makes no sense. (So God works in mysterious ways

Also, many of the most violent places like the Arab states are the most religious people.
No one except devout Arabs considers the Muslim faith to be a decent religion. Christianity is a watered-down version.
Religion is brainwashing, as simple as. It would not be effective if people were not exposed to it from an early age. It is easy for everyone to see how ridiculous other religions are.

We saw how the religious have been during Covid, making self-made cures and calling it a conspiracy at the same time. 21st-century science and reason show the vaccines to be the best solution, yet these people turn to people with no expertise in health for guidance on Covid.

Anti-theism is a religious belief, as is atheism or theism.
If religion played a part in early civilisation, who is to say at some point it outlives its usefulness. Imagine the world had no religion for 50 years, it may actually become a more peaceful place. (Certainly in the Middle-East where they have been fighting for the promised land).
Anti-theists believe the world would be a better place without religion. If that is true, then you could figuratively say it is the word of "a" God, assuming any existed.

Ideology is subjective. The problem with religion is that it makes people think that ideology is fact. Values that are good, are good because they are good, not because they are associated with a God that may not even exist.

I believe in Good and Evil....God being good and the Adversary being Evil...all good comes from God...and Evil from the Devil...but these entities are not from a children's Bible or cartoon. It's way more complicated than that...And I'm definitely not saying that only Christians can be moral...it's actually quite the opposite probably more often than not.

Thank you for clarifying that for me, because that is precisely how it came across to me

Draad, you are personifying good and evil. If your God is good, then other Gods are bad. It is really basic religious persuasion of 2 sides, nothing in between. Absolute truth, not relative truth.

Draad, just a few  words of wisdom, it is total waste of time and energy trying to reason and debate with those who delight in sullying and decimate things that others hold dear to them ...leave them alone.

Silence speaks louder than words to twisted and disturbed minds.

Muslims hold religion dear to them, especially suicide bombers.
Just because it is dear to you, that does not make it right.

Do you respect other religions, or atheism or anti-theism ? No, because all religions claim they are the one true God, and all others are Baal.
Religious are not Democratic people, but they want Democratic freedom to practise their own religion.

Covid has shown that religion doesn't belong in the 21st century, and should be teleported back to Babylon thousands of years ago.  One minute they say Covid is a hoax, the next they are injecting themselves with dog shit following the recommendations of someone with no knowledge of Covid, or even health for that matter.
