The job of the media in a case like this is surely to get Trump to first clarify what he meant and printing that, instead of jumping on the worst possible interpretation and sending it around the country.

Like the guy in the video Plum posted says, it is the media that is putting the idea front and center on their pages. A speculative off the cuff remark like that (phrased as a question, not a suggestion - and is there a way we could do something like that) will just disappear into the ether if it doesn't get pounced on and magnified and pushed in people's faces with headlines containing phrases like "inject bleach", "inject disinfectants". The media frenzy is what gives the idea momentum.

They are desperate to spin anything that Trump does or say as negative as possible.  Why do they hate him so much? It doesn't make sense for people to spend so much energy on hating and yet they do?

Propaganda brainwashing from the Goebbels playbook...but why? I don't get it. Why is he such a threat to them?

Everyone gets to watch the video themselves. They do not need to rely on media interpretations.
Trump later said he was joking. This is an admittance that he said it- and that he meant what people believe he meant.

Thanks Pakie. This man is on the job morning at night, and probably talking too much. But he wants to do the best job possible, hopefully enough people get that.

As for the medical critics....if a Doctor said: ‘I’m sure the President wasn’t suggesting internal use of bleach, but just to avoid any possible misinterpretations it’s dangerous and should not be done’  I would respect that Doctor.

One hopes that the media are acting this way because they're bought and paid for.

The other explanations are way more nefarious.

Why is it the media's fault when they record Bozo saying that disinfectant is an "interesting" option as a cure for Covid 19?

Should the media not be covering the . . . ummm . . . press briefings?

""The media is bought and paid for"" - Another Plumpanzee conspiracy...  It is a video idiot, not a conspiracy. Everyone has seen the video.
99% of the media across the world see it for what he said, are they also on the payroll - and part of another alien conspiracy?

Draad, my belief is that the question you've posed in a few different forms, that of "Why?", is probably the most pertinent.

Think about it. Trump isn't the most likeable guy. To politically outflank him over the the last four years should have been easy.

The vast majority of the media, Hollywood to CNN and everything inbetween have been on his case since prior to his election. He's also a newcomer to politics and not the best speaker.

With so much counting against him, a simple nudge, or even just ignoring him, would likely have seen him lose in 2020.

Instead, what happend, and what some of the chimps on this board have fallen victim to, was a total overreaction and ultimate overextention by opposing politicians and media. The net result being their own trust stocks and approvals falling through the floor.

And these aren't stupid people. There's billions involved. Focus groups on top of more focus groups supported by think tanks, lobbyists, businesses, celebrities and private investors with net personal wealth  equivalent to the GDP of nation states...

And the result? Well, Trump will win 2020.

Indeed, what frightened the chickens so much that they ran into the barn door with enough force to break their own necks?

The anti-Trump gang here won't pause for moment and ask themselves why all this is happening. They just assume that all of this concerted effort, much of it now being shown to be criminal, is normal...because it falls in line with the personality traits that they like or dislike in people.

IE I agree with their short term goal so I won't question their methods, motivations or the ultimate objective.

It's ignorance, stupidity and ego at its finest.

As for Denny, well, the guy has on numerous occasions mentioned how he was looked down upon for being of a certain class/race yet he appears to take great pleasure in looking down on classes that he deems, without evidence, to be lesser than he. The Animal Farm of prejudice, one might say.

Denny, those hillbillies built the most powerful nation the world has ever seen. Kry vir jou.

Just thought I'd chuck that in there ;)

I see Shark recovered from his KO.

Perhaps recovered is not the word.

Rather, he's up and about.

CTE is not something one recovers from. You simply learn to live with it. And those around learn to deal with your lack of average brain function.

In all honesty, it takes courage to let the sun see your face after so many embarrassments. Courage and stupidity being interchangeable terms in most contexts.

Weird though, how the Trump supporters are NEVER critical of him. No matter what he says or does. They can just never admit he has made a blunder. Think Zuma, and his supporters, and the fire pool. I think the right and the left are the same sharks swimming around in different oceans. Both sets of supporters are equally dishonest and incapable of being objective.
Think for just a second, if Trump is so perfect, why does half of his own country despise him?And if the democrats are so wonderful and brlliant, why the fark is Trump in power in the first place?
The truth is, if you 100% support either position you are an idiot. And just like you accuse the other side of doing, you are unable to think rationally and critically of what the reality is.
Wake up, all of you, you are being played!

"Weird though, how the Trump supporters are NEVER critical of him. No matter what he says or does. They can just never admit he has made a blunder"
I don't agree with that. He's made many blunders and he can be a d!ck at times, but most of the squabbles on this site are about how his actions are slanted and twisted into something entirely different from what he said/did/tweeted...constantly, from day one. Unbridled petulance and  unprecedented resistance and interference...24/7...so undemocratic by the so called Democrats...

Db you are one of the more reasonable posters on this topic, but tell me this, is Fox news objective regarding Trump? The answer is no, they do exactly FOR Trump, what the "mainstream media" do against him. It goes both ways in equal proprtions.

The media on the "right" are doing exaclty what the media on the "left" are doing. Neither is even nearly objective. The only real difference between the two sides is Trump constantly opening his mouth or tweeting the most idiotic things that highlight his often childish and ridiculous behaviour, while the left go about quietly in the shadows with theirs.

No, they are not objective, but if you think the pro-Trump portion of Fox brings balance to things, your view of "equal " reminds me of Animal Farm.

Maybe it's because I am ADHD myself that  I understand Trump a bit better than most... He's no angel, but he's motives and achievements have been vindicated more often than those of his harshest accusers...there is a clear and obvious patern...he hasn't been given the slightest of chances since day one. No benefit of doubt...accuse...accuse...accuse...24/7 for 4 years now.

Actually I disagree Draad. There are segments of Fox News that are pro Trump, mostly the evening opinion segments....Lou Dobbs, Hannity and others.

But the news anchors Brett Baier and Chris Wallace are neutral to slightly negative .

As are some of the business commentators like Neil Cavuto.

More to the point Fox hosts lots of Democratic commentators who are allowed to say their piece without the aggression Republicans encounter on CNN and MSNBC.

Fox has been much more right about the domestic political scene than other media outlets. They aren’t much good beyond the borders, but at least you are not being deliberately misled.

The most dishonest news organizations are BBC and the Guardian who can’t bring themselves to provide a balanced picture....the Financial Times isn’t far behind.

The most reliable source of news is the Wall Street Journal.

Donald J. Trump?@realDonaldTrump

What is the purpose of having White House News Conferences when the Lamestream Media asks nothing but hostile questions, & then refuses to report the truth or facts accurately. They get record ratings, & the American people get nothing but Fake News. Not worth the time & effort!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The purpose of the news briefings is to speak to the American population about the Coronavirus and how best to deal with it.

All Trump cares about is his next election. As much as I hate Trump, I would take 4 more years of him instead of the Coronavirus.

However, it is clear he is more interested in the re-election than the Coronavirus, and his celebrity reality TV star Big Brother ratings.

He has been using the Corona News update as a free re-election campaign. Promoting himself and the corporations that have pandered to his needs.

All Sleepy Joe has to do is wake up before November and Trump will have lost the election.

SB

Who turned the coronavirus into a circus>  Afraid you are wrong - it was the Democrats,  Instead of working together to deal with the threat they constantly undermined  all Government.  There is a crisis in the USA - but all the Democrats did, was to undermine the efforts.  The Democrats delayed the package and in the end they insisted that extra funding should be made available for projects that had no nearing on the virus issue,

Who suffers?  The ordinary people. So what dies that show? Hope that more people died si they can use it for election propaganda - they do not care a hell for anybody else involved - they hioe for more people to die.

What a disgusting lot of corrupt Democrats!!!!!

Look no further than the Covington kids case to see the difference between Fox and everyone else at the moment.

CCN intentionally edited and selectively showed just a piece of a much longer video specifically to implicate children as racists.

Fox showed the entire video, including the part where a group of adult blacks swore at and threatened the kids for no reason.

Imagine if a group of white adults swore at and threatened a group of black school kids. ThInk CNN would have left that out? Exactly. There's a narrative an an intended audience.

Fox was always on par with CNN and others for me.

But the last few years Fox has been much nearer the truth than anyone else. Their ratings reflect this.

All you gotta ask yourself which network has landed in the correct side of the big stories since 2016. Almost without fail, it has been Fox.

Does than mean I trust them, or any other legacy media? No...I don't trust any of them.

Good cop bad cop is how I see it.

Actually a good way to look at it is to see which side of the fence the libertarians land on in the current state of things.

What you find is that the vast, and I mean vast majority, fall on the side of Fox atm.

Begrudgingly so more often than not, but nevertheless, it is how it is.

Go out and find me a libertarian that felt there was weight to any of the things the legacy media have been accusing the present US administration of.

Once you review the results you, you can interpret them in a few ways. They're all closeted conservatives, Fox has succesfully influenced their critical thinking techniques, they hate the left more than the right or...Fox is just "more" trustworthy right now.

The legacy left media's present modus is to guilt you, or anyone else that disagrees, into submission. As someone that has never had a problem with, for example, homosexuality...I now find myself, through no fault or action of my own, to begin to have strong reservations bordering on dislike for people I had no problem with in the past. Many people that I talk to feel the same way about protected classes that they supported previously. So what changed?

We all know EXACTLY what changed.

You're racist, entitled, xenophobic, homophobic, sexist, classiest and on and fucking on, apparently. No? Ok, well go on to MSNBC, BBC or CNNs channels and remove any reports that call out or report on one of the above "sub-human" traits. Have a look what you're left with.

Better still, run a word search for protected class categories through their websites and get ready for more hits than a Mexican fly-weight on steroids.

And perhaps that is the present currency of the lefty leaning media. Guilt.

They've guilted people so fiercely and whipped up the mob into such a frenzy, that one is hardly allowed to express your political views in Europe or the US if you are right leaning.

Lifelong liberal personalities and even Jewish commentators are being called Nazis for simply questioning leftist narratives.

How is that normal?

Weren't the dems the guys that historically challenged narratives openly with a view to landing as near to the truth as possible? Tell me that this isn't the exact opposite of what you see happening today.
