Spoken by Richard Harris...a true son (but with many faults) of Ireland...

Indeed, Harris was a great actor and a die hard Munster fan, he also was a man with a serious fondness for drink (and he would drag Peter O'Toole along with him). A legend, flawed no doubt but a legend none the less.

Sebastien I not sure Richard had a message to Ireland, but I respect him greatly as an actor, and can look back on his character and generation with some romanticism but I wouldn't want to emulate him, times have changed and I believe for the better.

But regardless hoping your having a merry Christmas .

Yes you are spot on about them being too fond of the strong stuff...but here they are at a Munster match with some humour...O'Toole tackles Harris...then goes off to show the original jersey with a stain never removed...13 players at that time from Limerick

Yes, both were brilliant actors with a great sense of wit and humour. Hahahaha....could be Mike and Moz at a rugby match...hahaha.

Sadly they probably could have lived much longer, if it was not for their chronic drinking problems.

But Munster fan's they both were. Peter was also an avid cricket fan too, I believe.

Apparently Peter O'Toole's image of a hell-raiser hard drinking man was very exaggerated....people who knew him well said he often played up to it ,fooling people was part of his humour...he loved stirring the pot a bit but by and large he was a kind and gentle soul and was a very deep and intelligent man...actually he died at 81, which is not a bad innings, Harris was a hard drinker though, he died I believe at 72.

Yes a brilliant series.....sobering and a reminder that governments should serve the people, not the reverse.

I should have enlightened spiritually or intellectually the meaning of Richard Harris's Too many saviours on my cross, is about the misrepresentation of the true God of the scriptures and the abuse of false manmade so-called Christian religion. I fully believe the bible to be true in the right context's and not the abuse of the established church hierarchy which had hidden agendas and are works of satan the deceiver.

There is also mockery when he states Christ's needless death...the true meaning is the very opposite...Christ chose to die for mankind's sins, He was not forced...He chose to as it was the sacrifice that CAN set set you free to become a new man.He chose to...because He loves us.

When Harris utters in the last verse "Our father which art in heaven", he is NOT actually addressing the true God (which indeed is in heaven but everywhere but the manipulated man made god of established church hierarchies, false doctrines and rituals of Catholics and some Protestant hierarchies. In Ireland religion divided the people by and large but true men of faith can discern this. Religion can be devoid of meaning if is without spiritual sensitivity and understanding.and is used deceptively to misrepresent what God really wants...it is demonic.

Harris as he publically appears is not a good example of his words but who knows what happened spiritually at the last days of his life...nobody knows except God. Richard was a very likeable man but wild, heavy drinker and complex. Spoke beautifully and no snob.
