Best coach in the world?
He accepted the poisoned chalice known as Australian rugby. At first, he seemed destined to fail like his predecessors, but now he appears to be turning the ship around.
Australia still need more world-class players in key positions—particularly at fly-half and in the front row. However, as the team improves, it should attract better talent that might otherwise have opted for rugby league instead.
He managed to counter Rassie’s rush defence with clever pop passes over the top to the wing, or by using forwards peeling off the ruck to punch holes through the middle. The ball-carrying forward places the ball directly into the hands of a supporting runner, rather than passing it. This commits the defender and opens up a gap to break the line.
I’ve seen Ireland use this approach frequently with their backline, and it’s highly effective at creating clean breaks in tight spaces. It also reduces handling errors.
Their upcoming tests against the All Blacks will be a true measure of where they currently stand.

In my not so humble opinion he is the best rugby coach on the planet, he transformed bottom of the barrel nobodies into RWC contenders, consider also that Oz is severely hampered by playing numbers to realise and amazing achievement.

Agreed Shark & Denny. He didn’t have a settled group of players and had to mostly build from scratch.
What impressed me is the amount of self believe that Oz play with….
Speaks volumes for Schmidt,s coaching style, his Tactical Knowledge and interaction with players.

My point is he came into our backyard with a team just getting a bit of confidence and outscored Dr Lucky 60 points to 52….and 9 tries to 6, despite the superior resources Lucky had as his disposal. Are you too thick to grasp how unexpected that is.

And let's not forget that Australia were cheated out of a Lions series win.
...after everyone wrote them off last year.
On the one hand, Dave makes lists of 6 million players that could be Boks, obviously hyping our talent through the ceiling. But then pretends we have no/more or less talent than anybody else when telling us how amazing Rassie is compared to Schmidt.
So, does having oodles of hyper talent help, or doesn't it help, Dave. And do Ireland or Australia have the talent and players that we do?
Try thinking like a grown up, possessed of some logic, when you make your arguments.
Here, I'll help you. If Rassie coached Ireland or Australia, would he have won a WC? If Schmidt coached SA, would he have won a WC?
Does that help?

So 3 Six Nations titles, including one Grand Slam, 1 Pro 12 Tttle, 1 Top 14 title, 1 Challenge Cup title and two Champion Cup trophies is not significant?
Also in head to head meetings when two of them where the main coach I believe Schmidt has the better record.
I'm not one for bashing Erasmus, his record speaks for itself but Schmidt is an excellent coach as well.

Who gives a fuck how many tries were scored or what the points difference was you stupid pricks
We won one and lost one playing poor rugby but for the first 20 min of the first game playing a mixed match Bok side
We are streets ahead of Oz in the rankings and have a cabinet full of trophies they don’t have
One fucking loss does not change that you stupid old man

"I'm not one for bashing Erasmus, his record speaks for itself but Schmidt is an excellent coach as well."
Here, Chat helped with nice analogy for how i see Rassie.
The System-First Coach (Knife Maker Who Chooses a Metal for His Design)
This coach is like a bladesmith who has already designed a knife and now searches for whatever metal fits that blueprint. He doesn’t necessarily want the strongest or purest steel — just something that can be shaped into his predetermined design. The result is a knife that might function, but it will never cut at the highest standard, because the quality of the blade is capped by the quality of the chosen metal. Even the best design cannot make weak iron perform like hardened steel.
The Talent-First Coach (Knife Maker Who Starts With the Best Metal)
This coach begins with the finest steel available. His philosophy is that the blade’s strength lies in the quality of its material. Once he has the best metal, he forges a knife design around it, adapting his craft to bring out the steel’s natural advantages — hardness, sharpness, or flexibility. The result is a knife that not only suits its purpose but achieves a level of sharpness and resilience that no system-first approach can replicate.
