A bit of a good read about the need for a Plate competiton in the World Cup to give the second tier nations a better suck of the sav.

 To give England a chance to settle as the top tier 2 nation?

 No they have the 6 N to determine the 2nd teir wotsit .

It would be good to find a way to make the RWC more meaningful for the tier 2 countries. The officials should check with these countries to see if they are interested, do more market research & make a decision.

 Then rather do it like the sevens...

Cup quarter final losers go into the plate competition.

Pool losers play for the Bowl and the Shield.

Problem is that the cost involved to keep all those nations there in comparison with the possible attendance and income generated makes it much more difficult to handle logistically.

With sevens it is easier. You have a squad of 12, the coach, the physio, the video analyst, the manager and maybe one or two other people. With 15s you have the squad of 31 plus a management team of close to 20 (or more). Recovery times are longer after 15s matches which means an extended stay for 50+ members of a team.

It sounds like a logistics nightmare... As Wardad says... The tier 2 nations have the 6 Nations
