We know Lood missed the tackle here, but is Bismark also to blame to some extent?

Yes or No?

No.It is obviously the fault of Lood, and only an idiot would think otherwise. The same idiot fan boy who cheers for all the younger players attempting to pass or share out the blame to older players.
The arms of Lood are wrapped around  the tackled player, which makes it difficult for Bismaark to tackle.
If you get your arms around someone you make the tackle.

Hallo guys.  Wow, but you guys make it difficult to find the place.  Hello Daddy.  In this case you are quite right - that fat boer should have made the tackle.
It is nearly year end closing for us.  I had to go to the doctor because a jackhammer fell on my foot and now I am fooked a bit.
I may even go join ISIS for a bit over the festive season to see what they are all about

Yes, a low tackle from either of them would have stopped the guy. Instead they both went head high and just got in each other's way. However, Lood had the guy covered all the way while Bismarck had to make a reactive tackle.

1. It was Lood's man. Bismarck was drifting to the outside to cover the pass, you can see him having to stop and turn here.

2. A lethargic effort from Lood. A committed low tackle here stops it all. Instead he lazily tries to grab the guy around the head. Not even his shoulders. His head. The guy is now already level with Bismarck, who has to reach as he is going by.

3. Lood and Bismarck collide while collectively ruffling the guy's hair. One of them had to go low. Neither did.

 Exactly truth.
Saffex allways blames the inside man unless it is one of his new favourite youngsters who are the inside man.
It was a pathetic attempt from Lood. Anyone who has played rugby will know that when you have your arms around the ball carrier, you have to make the tackle.  Otherwise you just block another tackler in your team from making the tackle.

How can a professional rugby player make such a high tackle.
Sometimes this happens by accident like if a player ducks, but running like an Egyptian mummy is always going to result in a high tackle.Ask JJ Engelbreght who won a grammy last year for his walk like an Egyptian.

Thanks for the clip Pakie, now you can see the context of what happened.

You could argue both should have tackled lower. You can also argue that the communication between them was poor as Lood was standing behind the ruck and Bismarck too wide which left a gap for a sniper to run through.

I will blame them both for those reasons

I see it as 50/50 responsibility. Lood should have had him covered, but Bizzie also came in for the tackle and at the end of the day, both men made half a tackle, because they both thought the other had things under control. Bad defense and bad communication by both.

JJ is a serial offender for poor high tackles, an Lood Foot is fastly catching up.
Below is another typically poor tackle from Lood, and he is blocking his team mates from making the tackle.
When a player tackles high, they also tend to get thrown around out of their initial position and block other players from tackling.

If you tackle high you wrap the ball carrier. Morné had this mastered, then tun them around and expose the ball to a support player to have a shot at winning the turnover. If you can't control the contact situation then the support player merely smashed the attacker to ground or goes low which allows the primary tackler the chance to overpower him and force him back. It's simple defensive principles.

No, if you tackle high you hug the ball carrier, and if he is not that way inclined he simply rolls out of the hug. There should be plenty of evidence to prove that.

When you tackle the ball, like Frans Steyn tried so many times, and fail, you concede tries.

You rather tackle by way of ball and all, ala Bismarck du Plessis on that ill fated day when Poite couldn't believe it was a legal tackle on Carter, or you do the kak tackle (your opinion) of Lambie style by going low. In so doing, you stop momentum and allow the tackle assist easy access to the ball.

Tackling low or high are both effective ways, but only if done correctly.
Tackling high can wrap up the ball and player, thereby preventing offloads. Once the arms are around the opponent, the tackler should use their momentum and body weight to pull the player to the ground. The key thing is to make sure they have a solid grasp before going off their feet.
A player that is strong on his feet like Sonny Bill, it is often best to tackle the chest area (not the neck). This helps to prevent the offload.
Tackling Neck high is just stupid. It is a penalty about to happen, it blocks other players on your own team from lining up to make a proper tackle.
Lood only needed to get his arms around the chest of the player, and his weight advantage over a scrumhalf would easily have pulled the player to the ground.
It is poor technique from someone that is paid professional rugby player, just like JJ

Thanks Pakie. Clearly the primary responsibility was Lood's. Bismarck could have saved the day, but his primary responsibilty was outside. If Lood was quicker to react and more decisive in his tackle....no try. The fault was 75 per cent Lood....25 per cent Bismarck.
So go to the infamous test try by Barrett at Ellis Park. Here you have Barrett break past the on rushing Jean. Clearly he bears major responsibility.Morne gets Barrett unexpectedly and closes his space. Barrett doesn't run through him, he runs past him laterally.

Then he runs slap bang, head on into JJ, who dusts off his jersey....and then exhausted by that effort falls down.

But we are to believe Bismarck was responsible, but outside tackler JJ wasn't responsible. Amazing contradictory thinking.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO Moffie, no one is saying Bismark is solely to blame, where did you get that from?

Lood and Bismark are to blame, something idiots like Vlagshit and Sharktwat refute.

But its interesting to note that you want to give Lood 75% of the blame, the inside defender who happens to be one of the players you are anti and you apportion 25% blame to Bismark.........I just find the double standards ironic with regards to the Barrett miss, where Morne, the inside defender, was virtually in the same position as Lood and went high and missed Barrett completely......JJ, like Bismark is covering the outside and has to adjust and try make the tackle on Barrett, like Bismark did on the 9......you give Bismark 25% and you informed us at the time that JJ lost us the test thanks to the Barrett miss.

It was a load of bullshit then as it is now......Lood was more to blame than Bismark - I agree on that........equally......Jean and Morne were more to blame than JJ was with the Barrett miss.......and yes JJ was also to blame.......you get the picture here?

Common denominator here is your dislike of JJ and Lood and your pro Jean, Bismark and Morne.......facts have nothing to do with your takes on the miss by JJ, evidenced by your take on Bismarks miss.

Personally I'd give Lood 60% of the blame, Bismark 40%.......with the Barrett miss, I'd go 45% Jean, 35% Morne and 20% JJ

Actually no. Jean never made contact with Barrett. He was trying to force a deep tackle for offensive reasons. He overran the play....a mental mistake....and Barrett was away.

Morne got him unexpectedly and Barrett was running across him. He never went through Morne's space....he went across the front of Morne, who got hands on him....,and slap bang right into JJ.
You see it all the time with lateral running, the tackler doesn't full commit, but closes his space. That's what Morne did. It was up to JJ to finish him off....and he failed. Perhaps Pakie could show this to us.

Well if you rush then you better make sure you snuff the man out for by rushing you break the defensive line......both Morne and JJ would have been checked by Jean's miss and would have had to alter their original alignment.......Morne was the inside defender and the fact that he got hands on Barrett means he was close enough to try effect the tackle, he went high and missed him......JJ at that point was covering the outside channel and had to turn and try grab Barrett who had slipped past Morne......JJ never had time to get into position and effect a proper tackle.....he was literally clutching at straws and also went high.

Both Morne and JJ would have been offset by Jean's miss and neither were in perfect positions to make a conventional tackle. They both would have had to adjust from their original defensive alignment and its that adjustment that Barrett exploited.

It is always the inside defenders responsibility to tackle the player with ball in hand. After the Jean miss, Morne was left as the inside defender. JJ would have been relying on Morne to make the tackle as he was covering the outside. He would have had to adjust from covering wide in order to try tackle Barrett

Hi Fredie;  welcome back
To me Bismarck stayed in his defensive lane and Look ran from the ruck to try & fill the space between the ruck & Bismark. Lood was not well positioned to make the tackle & also went high so he missed. Bismark was not well positioned either & went high & missed. Both were at fault regardless but I wonder where the half-back was?
