Balls galore again. The Stormers took a number of tightheads and often had the Rebels in retreat in scrums. The only scrums where the Stormers went backwards were in fact the scrums they won tightheads in and that happens because the forward pushing is disrupted. I suppose those are the scrums where you said "where he (Malherbe) was twisted sideways"
I have reservations about Koch as well. He was excellent against weaker scrummagers, but when eh came on from the bench he was not showing the same abilities he showed in earlier matches.
However, I would still select him ahead of Jannie who leaks scrumming penalties on a regular basis and do not contribute to strong scrummaging. To my mind - despite a recent drop in form he is ahead of Marcel van der Merwe as well.

So Malherbe and Kitshoff conceded penalties? And the old bugger cannot count either? The Rebels props conceded 3 scrum penalties - not two. One of the Koch penalties he crows about was not a scrum penalty - but a maul penalty.
You have to love this BS.

The Rebels conceded 4 penalties in total. Just four. One of these one went to the scrumhalf, one to a lock....only two to the front row. Draw your own conclusions if you can.

Idiot - you missed out on two scrum penalties indicated to the Stormers - where the Stormers got so much advantage from ensuing play that the referee called advantage over in the end and it was not reflected as such in the stats
Draw your own conclusions if you can.

Moz, I won't read too much into those penalties against him. Berry doesn't know his elbow from his arse, never mind what's going on in a scrum!

Draad it's the going down that's a concern. Not because he initiates it, but because once they go down its in the discretion of these inconsistent refs.
25 May 2015, 18:13#9
I can't remember the last time Malherbe went down, can remember seeing Jannie Du Plessis' face in the turf though.

Shezza, all front rows goes down a few times a match. Every match. Physics really. It's the refs that decide when to penalise and when not. Absurd. No way to judge a prop though, unless it is a constant problem, which it's not in the case of Vincent. Boland boytjie come home where he belon gs!

PS, at long last we have a 3 that looks like one. Looks a bit like Mr Incredible. ..maybe Pixar can now make the sequel. We should stop fooking around and play him from the bench in at least the next 5 tests. I can see a bit of Cobus Visagie in him. Jannie was TH by default and he can still fill the gap, but Koch is the future. Right surname as well.

Draad
I was a little boy when my father took my brother and me to Newlands to see the game that proved to be the last of Chris Koch - a great friend of my father - playing for the Springboks against the All Blacks. Koch had in that game reached the largest number of caps any prop before him attained in the Springbok team.
That game proved to be a fiasco. Koch played an extremely stupid game and collected penalties consistently - and Don Clarke slotted three of them for 9 points to 3 victory by the AB's.
It always reminds me of one thing - a player should stop playing international rugby before he disgraces himself by overstaying his welcome. Is that not the case with Jannie du Plessis at present?
I know you like Vincent Koch - but I think the first choice Tighthead likely to succeed Jannie is Malherbe - with Koch likely on the bench.

Mike, I like both Malherbe and Koch, but Koch took to SR like a duck to water in his first game. And in an unfamiliar team to boot. Jannie is all but done, but you don't just throw away that kind of experience on a whim. Jannie will be at the RWC and rightly so.

Moz, if what you say is true, which I believe is so, I'll file it under dodge memory over a lot of years. No need to read anything sinister into it.

Actually the score in Chris Koch's last test match at Newlands was 11-3, not 11-9 as Moffie claims above.
Now, does this mean Moffie is mistaken or does it mean he's a liar?

Draad if that were the case I would have no issue with the post. Our memories dim a little over time. But in fact there were two agenda items in Moronic's post...firstly to push the idea that old players have to be replaced.....secondly to promote the notion that he was somehow connected in the rugby world. In the process he exaggerated Koch's role in the loss. Some family friend.

Mozart it was 60 years ago and unfortunately the impression made on the mind of a 12 year old. I did not go and read up the story about the match you mention - so that is refreshing.
The rest of your attack on me is the snakesh!t one can expect from you - the wriggling snake on this site. Every time I see a contribution and personal attack by you I think that scum is too charitable a term to use in your case - you are worse than that.

Disagree, Malhebe completely dominated his opposite number and I thought the calls against Koch were very poor......it had nothing to do with his opposite number getting the better of him.
