Another Story Dr Goebbels will hate - Paul Jordaan

The following from News24:-

One of the tries of the match came from Paul Jordaan who has shown remarkable fortitude to remain positive despite an horrific injury. But he has stuck it out, even when there were minor setbacks.  His try was simple stunning and showed what remarkable talent he possesses..

“After his hip operation, a month ago he tweaked it again and we wondered if another op was needed, but he has just been coming good with his attitude to recovery and we will introduce him slowly.

“But that was a proper finish for his try, there is no substitute for pace and he has gas to burn. And he has experience and will be a calm head in the midfield,"said Gold"

This guy played virtually throughout 2012 at 13 and in all matches made 62 tackles missing only 4 tackles during the season.   That represented a miss tackle ratio of 6,06% - the lowest in Super 15 that year by any regular backline player.  One of the missed tackles were on Freuan and our local liar promptly stated that he missed two tackles on Fruean in that game.   In that tournament scored the try of the series in the play-off-match against the Reds - featuring as a nominated try for the "try of the year" competition for that year.

The success story of 2012 was not repeated and the rel reason for Jordaan's dip in form was the fact that he was facing a real ordeal.   He was playing outside the worst performing inside center in 2013 - namely Francois Steyn - until the latter was dropped for the team because in Plumtree's words "he was not a center".   Be it as it may Jordaan's ordeal continued in 2014 when eh again had to play outside Francois Steyn and the latter basically ruined the backline of the Sharks. 

When Steyn was gone to Japan - the Sharks backline started functioning again and in the first two matches Jordaan scored 3 tries in the CC, whereafter he was injured as mentioned by Gold.   The backline problems of players playing outside Francois Steyn is understandable.  His constant aimless and inaccurate kicking, his crashballing and  aimless and inaccurate passing game destroyed the Sharks backline in 2014.  In some matches Steyn never past a ball to Jordaan and in some games he was lucky to receive 3 passed balls from Steyn.   In the main there were no attacking opportunities for  Jordaan or in fact any other backline players playing outside of Steyn and the fact that in the whole series Fransie only made one line break himself and  only beat 8 tackles,  it was clear that he himself was incapable of playing an attacking game.   That added to the dead backline syndrome of the Sharks backline last year affected  negatively all players playing outside of Fransie.   In Super 15 it was no better this year and Mvovo showed on Saturday what he can do if he gets a decent ball. - he got nothing of such with Fransie in the backline.

However, hopefully the Sharks backline will remain without Steyn next year and ensure that the team start to function better in future .

But I understand that it is in human nature to commonly imagine that aspects about your own personality is applicable to others.

 I am glad I am not like you Trooth Fairy - an IQ deficient idiot.  How many things Dr Goebbels wrote about Jordaan is clearly in evidence.   He was downright hateful in what he wrote and I just posted this article with comments of Gold to show a different side to the player Dr Goebbels constantly endeavour to deride.

 Mike, Paul is an exciting talent and we compliment him on his determination to get back and wish him well. I saw that try of his and it oozed reall class. Wing maybe his best position but we shall have to see what happens. Great gas and still only 23!! Nice and compact and good on his feet. One to watch 

Oh puleeeze he was monstered by Fruean and monstered by Reid ....both times with disastrous results. Can't we just accept the truth for once.....this guy will never survive as an international centre ....he is too small.

 Too small. Not smaller than De Jongh!  His tackling stats are though far better and he has more gas.
Bet S harks are pleased he is coming back.

He is a fr better player than De Jongh ever was or ever will be.  He has something seriously lacking in our backline - namely ball sense.   He is as you said at least 7 kgs heavier than De Jongh and faster than him as well.   That try you referred to was scored when he actually was in the wing position and beat three defenders in scoring the try - the first one by pace, the second one he stepped and the third one got to him only as he was dotting down the ball.  I do not see him as an international player at present in the center position - he is much better on the wing and I think that Dave also thought so for a while now.   However, h is a very food prospect as a wing and that is where he should play.  
Whenever Dr Goebbels does not rate a player one has to know he is better than his favourites that he rates.  Dr Goebbels does not know anything about performance evaluation of players - for him player reputation counts more than performance.   However, he lies about the disastrous result in the Fruean case he keeps on shouting about. There was no disastrous results - Fruean was tackled 3 meters on near the Sharks 10 meter line by another player, so the disastrous results lie is pure BS.   In the Read case last year he did run over Jordaan's tackle and scored a try - but that is certainly not the first backline player Read did that to.
In the Sharks game against the Blues last year Jordaan came up against Ma'a Nonu and he tackled Nonu so hard that the latter lost ball possession twice.  That was a real eye-opener.
I would rather believe the evaluation of Gold in this case than of our local disaster Dr Goebbels.          
        

Jordaan is a quality player but like de Jongh is too small for 13. I'd only consider Jordaan on the wing.
Just like Whiteley is too small for an 8 and Louw and Schalk too big for a 6.

Jordaan will never be a test player. There are no ifs, ands or buts. Not  physical enough to meet the forces he will encounter at test centre....short for a wing. This is another fantasy. The scary thing is our professional rugby people entertain this kind of rubbish...not only morons like the Perv and Dave.

 It is scary thing our present coach entertains is the kind of has-beens and never-has-beens he keeps in the squad.   What you know about player performance evaluation is so witless it is impossible to imagine anyone could know less.  

Look in the mirror Perv, no need to use your imagination....keep that for your pictures of the young boys .
