Glanced at the Pontiing article a few months back now i think Rooi. Seems like no matter what one does, test cricket is always gonna be massively in favour of the home team. Don't know what the solution is but any sport where the toss of a coin prior to the match can have a huge impact.on the result needs to re-evaluate. Luckily.cricket has been good at adapting over ather years and has been a bit of an example in that regard.
For years I've felt that more spinning all rounders need to be included in test squads. Gotta say thanks Mr Duminy for outspinni.g the front line spinners in the English series where Amla and Jaques had that record partnership. Since then we've seemed to understand the value of these guys. Of course this effect is totally exaggerated in India where they fear pace like cancer.

We need to play only one spinner in tests, even in India. Tahir is unfortunately not test material.

Not outright spinners D. Not a Tahir fan either. For my money a spinner's job is not to clean up the the tailenders. He needs to contribute more, especially if he can't hold a bat. Guys like Duminy and Edgar are what I'm talking about. It gives a team way more flexibility if you have two or three of them. And even a part time spinner on his day can be a real handful.

Shame!
SA is really pathetic - could not even make 80 runs!

Denny, there should also be an international minimum standard for a pitch. That pitch there is just not "cricket", them Indians are cheating big time. But, before you jump at me them South African outjies are really akkies too.

Kak man, no shame, none whatsover, a largely inexperienced team struggling to find their feet after the retirement of stalwarts like Smith, Kallis and Boucher on a cow pasture pitch that looks like a smashed windscreen on Day 1... the outcome is understandable. My guess is that seasoned players would struggle against what I regard as top class spin attack on a dustbowl. I rate Ashwin up there with Warne.

Nei man daais nie kak nie! Read nicely now. Read the following post of mine too, nê. But we can make as many excuses as we like, the fact remains that those guys are representing South Africa and were selected because they are (according to selectors and coach) the best there is in South Africa. Surely that total is not good or are we now starting to celebrate "performance" like the ANC government?

Should there be a rule against excessive appealing.....the way the Indians are carrying on is outright disgraceful.

There should be a rule against these kind of pitches, but we started fighting back way too late. We desperately need another opener. Stiaan is a great player, but sadly no opener...not that it was actually the new ball that bothered us this series...still.
