Are the 2023 Boks the greatest TEAM ever

Bok 2009 was a great team too...not many teams to make it 3-zip vs Allblacks in one year...

Once again I point out this guy is not saying this was the best side ever. He is saying it was the best TEAM. ie their teamwork was the best ever. They best better sides via TEAMWORK, a consequence of great coaching etc. 

You have to be really a half baked loon to give Pollard all the credit for the RWC win.

Those questioning the Boks attacking ability need to be reminded of the trouncing the Boks gave the Kiwis and Wales and the French match.

Rassie played to win and win he did. Winning IS the most important think. If you want beauty go and watch a ballet oerhsis. There is no such thing in rugby as winning ugly. Rugby is not a pretty sport, it's a tough grinding battle with Flashes of brilliance.

I never gave Pollard all the credit for the win….I said Pollard and therefore goal kicking was the difference between the two teams. HasBeen-ou struggling to understand fundamental concepts.

We won the kicking match, not the team game….NZ won that but their 50% kicking lost the match. The numbers don’t lie.

Actually no, if it wasn't for Kolbe, Pollard’s kicks in the quarters wouldn't have been enough...and all the other kicks wouldn't have happened...same with the tries scored vs France...anyone of those tries didn't happen, we were out...unless someone else scored from a whole different chain of events...as die hond nie...

It’s pretty clear….if Barrett does what Pollard did, the ABs win….likewise the late kick by Ramos. So if you prefer, we can state it that Ramos and Barrett lost the WC by not making those kicks. Either way it’s crystal to any honest person success rate in kicks for goal was the difference.

All those factors are incorporated….even the pressure to create the penalties. But the kick itself is not affected by all that other stuff. It’s down to the kicker. My kicking differential is not due to the number of kicks, that is the result of pressure, it merely equalizes the kicking success rate.

By the way this topic is discussion of decelopment of TEAMS  and was clearly idicated that from a TEAM development the 2023 Springboks as a TEAM was the best ever.   

That gives a lot of credit to Erasmus and Mozart went off his trolley totally - he still hate Ersamus because he and not White was appoined by SARU.   From the time of his appointment everything he wrote citicizing Erasmus was continuous and bitter.      

If you think success of any given kick is determined by scrumming you’re right. If the success of the kick, once awarded, lies in the boot of the kicker I’m right.

Was the 1/4s to WC run perhaps overall the greatest run in history? Did it surpass similar feats in other popular sporting disciplines, perhaps? I think one could argue the point.

But, really great teams, like Richie's ABs, they didn't lose to Wales in NZ.

A great team is the finished product, and remains dominant for a prolonged period, in all competitions, until the great players leave and those combinations are lost. 

The double WC-winning Spanish football side. Waugh's Australia. Richie's ABS. 

Those are all-time great teams. 

I'd love to put any Bok side in that category but evidence would be required. 

Seriously...look at those teams above again and tell me you would be comfortable putting the Boks on that list?

This guy is arguing that a side bereft of stars, only one Bok made the World 15, nevertheless went on to win the RWC via arguably the toughest route ever. This he argues was because of a comprehensive team effort due also to a great coach etc

He is not arguing this Bok side is the best side ever dominant over long period etc.

I think his take is reasonable. This was an unparalleled TEAM effort. Every man playing his part and some very smart coaching as well.

Poor old mozzzie is floundering badly. He has been fully exposed for the Rassie hating loon he is. He would have preferred the Boks to lose the RWC than for Rassie to be involved in a second triumph. His close sidekick Doos was in the same boat as mozzzie. They both went down with the ship when the Boks won the 2023 RWC.

So what it boils down to us Mozzz knows he has suffered a knock out blow by Rassie winning a second RWC. So what to do. His ONLY option was the one he took -t ry and discredit the win by using his half baked stats and arguments about the role played by Pollard.

Not at all ….I post rational, quantitative arguments demonstrating this was  the luckiest passage to success in any major tournament I have ever seen. And I have seen a lot. In response Draad having tried for one post to be rational reverts to emotional drivel and HasBeen to hee haw attacks.

Just the fact of three consecutive one point wins would persuade any honest person that huge dollops of luck were involved. Not this crew of hero worshippers….it had to be ‘genius’, when if it was anything other than luck  it was Pollard.

The rain was modest, never affected the score…if anything it hurt the attacking  team….call that 5 points.

The issue discussed in the above clip has F _ALL to do with the issues rai zed by Mozart.   It is not the issue of merit of players or deficiency of team members.  

He referred to what is called TEAMBUILDING.    It is a wide concept and often the issue is discussed at meetings and team members are free to expresss their opinions and suggest changes.   It has to do with the playes understand reaction as to what is happening  during games.   The players themselves are aware  of the tendency of teammates are and adjust their game to help the teammates concenrned .

The development of efficiency of players are constant and over time a TEAM  combination is developed in the team winning more tests than other teams with the quality of players used or available.   It also for instance can change when poor weather conditons affect games.

The viewpoint on the video is clear.- the video deal with the levcel of teambuilding the Spring boks have compraed to othe teams.    In other words.   The whole thread has nthing to do with individual player performances and eveyhing t do with the funvtioninhg of the TEAM.        .

Unfrtunately the stats used on this site comes from ESPN - to let us look at what we have and what experts have on performances.   There are extremely expensive programs that identify the actions and contributions by very individual in he team during matches,  .   If he ties his shoelaces - it will be n his pefrmance evaluation.  It covers every player for their full match performances.    WE do not have access to that info - so what Mozart and others supply site is raw info - sometimes wrong  - and without any quality evaluation.   

It is buy no means a real indication of actual performances of players.   By the wway SARO got the detailed evaluation program - but both Meyer and oetzee refused to use it.   Why nobody knows - but both were fired by their clubs bcause they were destroying their clubs.        .
