Jean de Villiers jaw injury yesterday has ruled him out of the remainder of the WC. I feel for him after putting so much effort into getting fit after his horror injury against Wales last year. I hope he stays with the team until the team goes out of the tournament as non-playing captain.
Jan Serfontein has been called up to join the Springbok squad as a replacement. This will be bad news for Mozart and DF - who wants Vrot Fransie in the squad.

Enuff of the BS, some on here will be rejoicing that JDV is going home.....and that he will be replaced by the club player Serfontein.

I won't be one of the members who celebrate - others might. I do not rate Serfontein as high as some and would have preferred Harold Vorster of the Lions as the future 13 - but Vorster is also out with an injury. He has lots of experience on Super 15 level as a 13 and a star of the future.

Very sorry to hear this. Jean never played that badly against Japan as I noted and was fine against the samoaners. He has had a very tough break again but will get through as he has great inner strength.
Squad will be weakned especially if Meyer thinks wee victor is now indepensible.
Denny dont be so doff, I doubt anyone will celebrate this!!

Jan could do well in this backline. I just hope Allende and Kriel are okay?

always sad to see a player having to leave the tournament because of an injury,...... and very probably means his farewell from the bok team, he's been one of the greatests,..... but he was completely out of form and he was going to be a burden against the competitive teams, beginning with Scotland next weekend ...... so now the possibilities of making the QF increase a bit

Terrible setback for Jean and the team. Terrible mistake to call up Stepfontein vs Fransie.

Frans hasnt played any decent rugby for years. A great pity of course but a fact.Esterhuizen has been going well as has Odendaal.
l saw Jaco Kriel playing very well for the Lions against the Cheetahs. Man that he didnt get in before Kolisi is a very sick joke.

What the hell do you want with the useless Francois Steyn in the squad? He cannot "tractor" (to use your latest term) - he made 3 line breaks in 2 years on Super 15 level - he beat 17 tackles in two years - he is a putrid defender (worse than De Allende) yet you want him in the team. Are you serious making that kind of idiotic remark. There are at least 6 centers playing rugby in SA miles better than him.
