In the last few games of the bulls in Super 15 Matfield claimed tiredness and stayed out of two of them.   He did  play in the second last Super 15 game and was pathetic.   Last year he did  the same thing as at present is the case.  Claim an injury so as not to play.

The question is - is he not hiding away and avoid games so as not to expose his weaknesses too much in an effort to avoid not being selected for the WC squad ?

Every match he plays exposes him as way off the mark.

Hiding in the box also exposes his shortcomings, as the replacement player inevitably puts in a better performance than he has all season.

Makes no difference either way. Twat he is ... twat he'll remain.

He's become the laughing stock globally ... and will be remembered as the selfish twat who only thought of himself and not the harm he brought to SA rugby.

I can understand the frustration with Matfield but who is ready to take his place? This kid Lood is still wet behind the ears. Surely SA has a more experienced & credible player than Lood? We are talking about the RWC where you don't throw in a rookie.

We are speculating of course but one wonders.
JW we have a number of locks but the whole situation has been mismanaged.
Bekker off to japan and nothing ever done to ensure he would be fit and ready for RWC
I am not sure what Flips current position is.Du Toit should be readyLood played eceptionally well for a guy who has been out so long.Willemse should be in the mix.
Then we have a number of fine young locks like Jean Kleyn and Ruan Botha. The 80 minute battler Mostert would also be better.jaque du Plesis would be better.
We are awash with locks but have no clue as to how to manage the situation.
Matfiled is simply not even vaguely up to it.

Beeno; most of the locks you have named are either not available, very raw or injured. One or two are yellow card machines.
Bring back Botha that's what I say. Do I hear an amen from Mozart
Kiwis trying to be helpful yet again.
