Clever mike you a skeptic? I never would have guessed that.

Does'nt really matter what he said , she said in the past about the Blues as this year it's a whole new ball game. You can put me on record as talking them up if you like though as the Blues have Awesome potential.

Auckland is the biggest city in NZ so there is no reason why they should'nt do well with such a massive talent pool. Auckland's population is predicted to double so in the future they could even be twice as good.

Ever heard of the Pygmalion effect because i am applying it to the Blues.

In 1911, researchers begin taking special interest in a horse owned by a German mathematician named Von Osten. The horse, aptly named Clever Hans, was reported to able to count - add, subtract, multiply and divide.

It was even suggested that Clever Hans could spell and solve problems involving musical harmony. As mystifying and even magical as this seemed to be, it was concluded following a rigorous study, that in fact Clever Hans possessed no highly intelligent factors nor extraordinary abilities.

It was simply a case of Clever Hans performing what had become expected of him.

Simply stated, once an expectation is set, even one of false conception, you will act in certain ways that are consistent with that expectation, causing the results of the expectation to become true.

The birth of this theory may actually be found in ancient mythical legend. It is written in the tenth book of Metamorphoses, which the sculptor, Pygmalion, who was a prince of Cyprus, sought to create an ivory statue of his ideal mate.

The result of his work was an extraordinarily beautiful sculpted woman, which Pygmalion named Galatea. Because of her beauty, Pygmalion fell desperately in love with the sculpted and began praying to Venus to bring Galatea to life. Venus granted his prayer and thus became what is now known as the Pygmalion Effect.

The expectations you direct towards a person, event or even yourself, will eventually come true.

So Clever mike the moral of the story is to have high expectations of your team and it will become a self fulfulling prophesy.

@dr win and basquefan,

regarding marshall starting at 10

i can understan where ur coming from, starting marshall at 10 is bound to have him playing with a massive bullseye all over him and the prudent thing to do would be to ease him in.
but i say fudge that, throw marshall into the deepend and say sink or swim mofo.
hes a class act who has played legaue at the highest level, so he can handle the pressure mentally.

and if marshall really wants to be an All Black, he needs to hit the ground running considering hes 28 years old, and its going to take extraordinary level performance from marshall of folau proportions for him to get on hansens radar.
and even then, with carter, cruden and barret caliber 5.0 amongst the best flyhalves in the world, let alone NZ,,,,,,

he needs to start as many as games as possible as that will help him get his rugby groove on.
concerns about marshalls defence are warranted, as hes in a key position and hes a newbie, but the blues cant do any worse then noakes who was the blues incumbent 10 and was crap at defending. i would go so far as to say that marshall is an improvement, and i havent even seen him play yet, lolz, :oP

wish marshall all the best with his rugby, cant wait to watch him play, :o)
