Bok side moving forward

Firstly lets hope and pray Meyer gets sacked......we don't need him with his pathetic selections and inability to play an all round game. We need a dynamic coach at the helm to direct a classy bunch of players.

At fullback we have Willie. Has had a disappointing WC by his high standards but as I have suggested before, I suspect that had everything to do with him being instructed to play a kicking game in NH conditions. It deprived us of our most lethal attacking force. Willie's strength is being given the freedom to roam and create. There is no doubting his class, one of the worlds best. He'll be back.
On the wing we have JP, who had a good WC and at 29, has a year or two left in him, I suspect the same does not apply to Habana. We therefore need to find another wing. We have quick illusive options in small guys like Kolbe, Senatla, Jordaan and Sergel Petersen, a real speedster in Rhule, power wings in Ulengo, Sithole and v/Wyk and an allrounder in Combrink.
Our young centre pair in de Allende and Kriel have already made the right impressions this year.....the pair had a great test against the AB's in the RC and had a good WC, with DA beating more defenders than any other centre, not to forget the turnovers he made and Kriel made more clean breaks than any other centre. It was hard work to impress for all the centres out there this WC....just ask Conrad Smith, Giteau, Jamie Roberts, Fofana, Kurandrani and Bosch etc. As a pair they will just get better and better, the raw material is very impressive.....long term investment is required, with the impressive Serfontein added to the mix. Serf has struggled with injury and playing out of position at 13 under Meyer.....too good a player not challenge the incumbent pair. Will be good to see Vorster return for Super rugby, he looks a real talent at 13 as does Dries Swanepoel of the Bulls. At 12 there are some real options in Odendaal, Frans Venter and Mnisi. We are more than covered at centre.....plenty of classy depth here.
At flyhalf, Pollard stands tall.....good all round player whose stregth is taking it flat and attacking the gain line. The contest will be for the back-up spot with 3 impressive talents in Jantjies (our best 10 last S15), Lambie and hopefully a return of talented Goosen.
Scrumhalf is up for grabs.....du Preez did a so called job this WC providing a good service and boot but we need more than that from a test 9. We need a 9 who will ask questions of the defence at times. Passive Pienaar was poor and Paige was never a merit selection. We have 3 real options at 9. I am a huge fan of the attacking Hougaard who confirmed under new Bulls coach that given the freedom to express, he thrives. He was a dead man walking under conservative Meyer. Faf de Klerk should have walked the WC squad given his performances in the s15. He is as good as Aaron Smith of NZ, similar kind of players, always asking questions. Reinach also got a WC raw deal and is a proven test player. Scrumhalf is up for grabs, we have good options, if we move away from a kicking 9.....which is a given. Hougaard and Faf are our best bets.
At loosehead, like Habana, I suspect we have seen the best of Beast, at best solid these days. Time to move on with Kitshoff, potentially the best 1 in the game, the obvious choice. Nyakane has always been good and gets better and better. Thomas du Toit looks a great young prospect, as does Kebble. We are covered at 1.
Hooker is still dominated by our older pair in Bismark and Strauss, both have a few years left in them yet. Young Malcolm Marx of the Lions is a Bismark clone and one for the future, he needs to be brought into the mix sooner than later.
At tighthead, Jannie is done.....did us proud but time to move on. Prior to the WC, I would have said the spot was up for grabs, but given Malherbe's sterling performances he has nailed the spot for now. We have read some utter rubbish about his scrummaging at times but he dominated here in every game he played. His all round performance in the 3rd place playoff, showed off his other skills, something like 17 tackles and plenty of carries with the ball. He was my MOM that game. I am a big fan of Marcel v/d Merwe who has saved our blushes a good few times at test level and Coenie prior to his injury was in great form at 3 for the Cheetahs. Young Wilco Louw, the 133kg square looks a great young prospect. We are sorted at 3.
Lock, like centre, we have talent to burn. In Etzebeth and Lood we have the best lock combo in the game as the stats clearly showed this WC. But it does not end there, for in Willemse, PSDT and Jacques du Plessis we have 3 players who are potentially just as good......not to mention a good few other young locks like Ruan Botha, Lewies, Lorens Erasmus and Baby Bok pair of Jason Jenkins and RG Snyman.
At 6 Louw had some good moments in the WC, but Jaco Kriel is in a different league and is a must as far as I am concerned. Our current trio are all similar, Kriel would add some attacking clout along with his abrasiveness. There are some good back ups in Kolisi, Carr, Notche and Labs. Coetzee did play there but I suspect given his size he should move to 7. 
Schalk did a good job at 7, but we need to move on with him still in the mix maybe. 7 is up for grabs. Ideally you want a lock clone at 7, one who is going to impose himself physically. Jacques du Plessis, PSDT and Elsatdt spring to mind. Coetzee provides a more all round ability as would the likes of Arno Botha and of course Munster player of the year CJ Stander. A new coach should chase this talented player.
At 8, Vermeulen is still our best, but we need to be looking for a back-up. Here Arno Botha and CJ Stander are obvious choices. Am a big fan of Sharks Mtembu and Baby Bok skipper Liebenberg looks the real deal.

You missed out on the scrummie who showed real class in the CC - by the name of Venter,  He was in fact the best scrummie in CC this year and one tow atch playing for the Cheetahs in Super Rugby.
I still need a reasonable additional line-out option and must look for a loosie that can handle that problem as well.   That cuts out a lot of the present number 7's - who cannot help in that Department.  That was where the AB's beat us in the line-outs.  Neither Burger nor Vermeulen answer that question.  

Bullshit Venter who was with the Kings and now with the Cheetahs is an average player.....he has been around for a while.

Given Jacques du Plessis is really a lock and good in the line-outs he sorts your issues out at 7......but in reality any of the loosies can be used in the line-outs, its not a big deal

 Dave it is a big deal - we went sour in line-outs in the WC semi because of that deficiency.   Meyer was just too dumb to cater for that problem.
I am afraid you have the wrong Venter - here - the one you referred to is playing for the Griquas.  The Cheetahs scrummie came through the Varsity Cup.   And I am afraid he wa s better than Hougaard.

Crap we dont need to select a certain 7 just because he is a good line out player......your primary source is the locks.....your loosies are a bonus....Vermeulen is handy enough there as would any 7 selected be.
The issue is not only the jumpers, our throwing in at times was poor.......hell even Matfield had a ball taken off him.......and we cant question his ability in the line-outs....there was some poor throwing there

Mike you are speaking kak......Shaun Venter, the very Venter I am on about is the one who played the last 2 games for the Cheetahs......he is average

 I think that Willie will have a ton of work to do in the S 15 to keep the Lions and Bulls fullbacks out of the squad.
Faf is without doubt the next Springbok #9.
I would prefer Kriel on the wing (#14) with the Sharks center as a replacement (Oosthuizen I think is the guy).
#11 must be that flyer from the Stormers (Senata I think)
#5 the find of the CC season........Erasmus from the Lions.
All in all RSA has the talent to field a winning team all we require is a coach/manager who is capable of selected the form players.
If he is allowed that is.
