Heyneke Meyer has made just two injury-enforced changes to his South Africa team for their final World Cup pool game against the USA.

The Springboks will top Pool B with a win over the Eagles, and the Americans have named a virtually second string side with a clash against Japan still to come.

But Meyer has no intentions of resting any players on Wednesday, with the only changes seeing Lwazi Mvovo and Frans Malherbe start in place of injured pair JP Pietersen and Jannie du Plessis.

Elsewhere it's a full strength team with Fourie du Preez again captaining the side alongside Handrè Pollard at fly-half.

There are some changes on the bench, with the inclusions of Schalk Brits and Rudy Paige, who is set for his Test debut. Morné Steyn is also preferred to Pat Lambie in his first appeareance of the tournament.

South Africa: 15 Willie le Roux, 14 Lwazi Mvovo, 13 Jesse Kriel, 12 Damian de Allende, 11 Bryan Habana, 10 Handrè Pollard, 9 Fourie du Preez (c), 8 Duane Vermeulen, 7 Schalk Burger, 6 Francois Louw, 5 Lood de Jager, 4 Eben Etzebeth, 3 Frans Malherbe, 2 Bismarck du Plessis, 1 Tendai Mtawarira
Replacements: 16 Schalk Brits, 17 Trevor Nyakane, 18 Coenie Oosthuizen, 19 Pieter-Steph du Toit, 20 Willem Alberts, 21 Rudy Paige, 22 Morné Steyn, 23 Jan Serfontein

Date: Wednesday, October 7
Venue: Olympic Stadium, London
Kick-off: 16:45 local (15:45 GMT)
Referee: Pascal Gauzere (France)
Assistant Referees: Nigel Owens (Wales), Mike Fraser (New Zealand)
TMO: George Ayoub (Australia)

Boks name their strongest team (but Mattfield was not included as they are probably resting him) and the US names a B team.
Should be a walk in the park. I can hear the chest-beating already as the Bok fans (led by the weee bloke in the green Scottish sweater ) get carried away

Notice that Steyn is making his Bok come back as he is now on the bench.  Do I hear someone screaming blue murder

You have it wrong.  Mozart would roast you alive for any team without Matfield being called  the strongest SA side.  Ouma Victoria is needed to give balance to the game - trying to at least to give some winning chance to the opposition.
Morne Steyn is there for the same reason - especially when and if the opposing team is need in urgent help.
You know  our coaches are great supporters of opposing team - so they bugger up team selection.  In this case Meyer got it right - even though they should bot be there as part of the squad.
Ig I was to select between Morne Steyn at flyhalf or the glyhalf of th second team of Witgatwortelfontein club second team - the latter would get my vote all the time.

Morné is our most successful flyhalf of all time. Young Pollard has a very long way to go before he is out of Morne's shadow! All I can say is it's about time Lambie gets the boot!
Interesting Malherbe is on, our scrum was less stable against Scotland when he came on. Can he hold up against the USA?

Morne our most successful 10 of all time....bwhaaahaaaaa about on par with Kurandrani being better than BOD....you fucking idiot....go find that bridge.
Malherbe is far far better than Jannie.
Bok side is getting better by the week. Malherbe for Jannie is a huge plus....let's hope Jannie and Vic are done

Have you finally gone off your rocker and ready for an asylum.  Your statement on Morne - the matchloser of Perth and so many other games -  being our most successful 10 of all time indicates a real delusion and loss of reality.
Morne - the worst ball sense flyhalf the past two decades is rated by you as the most successful.   Reality dictates completely otherwise.  Morne is clueless and has been repeatedly dropped by his close friend Meyer because of disastrous performance in some of the tests over the last three years.
go to the ESPN player profiles of international players and see what they say about Morne - it may open your eyes and bring you down to earth for a change.

With effectively only 3 days' rest, I wonder how wise it is to play all the guys who just came out of a bruising encounter with Scotland. Let's hope we don't pay with key injuries.

My guess is that given the States are playing their reserves it should be a good run out for the best Bok side leaving them a week and a half before the QFs.
The more this team plays together the better.

Ball sense? I remember that, I made a comment many years ago about the motion of the ball in attacking movements and Michael interpreted that perfectly clear sentence as how a player has a sense for a ball. Now he calls players he likes ball sense players without really elaborating on what he really means.
Dave, Morné has the second highest points per test in Bok history. Is the fastest player to 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 points in Bok history. Is all time franchise points scorer for the Bulls, world record holder for most successful consecutive shots at goal, world record for most points in a test (31) which broke several other records. There is more if you look them up. Has won 2 Currie Cups, 3 Super Rugby titles, Tri Nations, British Lions Tour, Top 14. Care to mention a more successful Bok 10?

How much has Lambie and Goosen achieved? This is looking very bad for you. Must you end another debate with me bloody nosed?

Morne can kick for poles I give him that. Is kicking for poles the measure of a player - no not even close. Kicking is all Morne can do. If he was not such a good goal kicker he would not have smelt a single CC cap.
The guy is a very average rugby player. Devoid of any creativity, has zero flair and is a piss poor defender. Had Lambie and Goosen played as many tests as this plodder they would have achieved their full test potential.
Instead we have had far too many years invested in a sub standard rugby player who can kick. Playing Morne as our pivot over the years has been the major reason the Boks have failed to surpass the ABs. You need a playmaker at 10 not a plodder.
Pollard, Lambie, Jantjies and Goosen are terrific playmakers

Morné is a very solid defender, takes down loosies and big backs comfortably all through his career.
He is not big in running, but he is a fantastic distributor and decision maker. No other 10 in the country can manage the game like he can.
Lambie has played nearly 50 tests, and his single contribution at 10 was a penalty kick v NZ after he missed a drop kick in front of the posts moments before. Great stuff. Especially considering how he was supposed to be a flair player!
Goosen was eaten alive against NZ twice and Australia. The weakest of all our halfbacks by far. Couldn't make it at ten and got shifted to fifteen where he hasn't been too hot either.
Morné had done more in his first two tests than Lambie has in his entire career. But sure, why not another fifty caps? It's not like being outplayed by a talentless scrub (what you called Japanese players during Super rugby) is any concern. I mean, the greatest upset in World Cup history doesn't mean anything, right? Success just happens to follow Lamebie around like a black cloud, eh?

Oh what horseshit....Morne has always been a yellow belly when it comes to defending. Hell there was a test not long before we saw the last of him where he missed 6 tackles. He is a softie....scared of fronting up.
His distribution skills are no better or worse than any other 10 in SA. The best hands in SA at 10 belong to Jantjies.
Morne is a ponderous plodder who offers nothing on attack and is a weak defender. All he can do is kick and pass...hardly the credentials for a test 10. He is easily the worst of our long term 10 s we have had since readmission.
All our current 10 s are better and that includes young CC 10's like du Preez, Schoeman, Boshoff and v/d Walt.
The likes of Honnibal, Stransky, Pretorius and Butch were twice the test 10's as are Pollard, Lambie, Goosen and Jantjies.
Morne was on par with Koen and Braam.

Utter nonsense. No other 10 puts his body on the line for the Boks, he chases everything. How many times has he missed his man? Very few. But I have debunked that defending myth a very long time ago and many times since.
Morné's distribution skills are excellent and have been proven time and again at all levels. Jantjies is not in the same class. But then you like Jantjies because he reminds you of another flop, Flayed Blooper.
Honnibal was a myth, as was Pretorius. Stransky was good but not better than Morne or Pollard. Butch was a special player and very good. He is more a blend between Morne and Pollard. Physical, can run but also tactically astute and a good decision maker. But Morné  is the better distributor of the three.

Morne is a myth - the worst defending flyhalf ever.  Nobody at flyhalf has ever missed 7 out of 15 tackle attempts in one test - that record is held by Morne.  Nobody has buggered up a test snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory like Morne did like he did in the Perth test last year.  No other flyhalf has "put his body" less on the line than Morne did because he virtually never attacked the gain line.
No other flyhalf is as robotic as Morne is,  He who buggered up the Ellis Park test in 2013 for not understanding when a kick and not a pass of a ball is required - purely because he was told before the test not to kick balls aimlessly away as is normal with him.  That second Messam try is a monument to his stupidity in games.  No other flyhalf's kicking game has been called BS by commentating on tests like happened to Morne in 2012.
No player regarded as an international flyhalf is a habitual bench flyhalf for his club because he is so utterly useless.
And this is the hero of Dim Fox who does not realize he is a fool.  What a lark.

This could be the end of Bambie for the World Cup.
Pollard is certainly 1st choice now. If Morne plays well he could end up being the backup to Pollard.
Ball in hand Morne Steyn is arguably the worst player in world rugby. Certainly worst Springbok flyhalf- even worse than Braam Van and Louis Koen

You are in serious trouble with Dim Fox.  I think that Meyer is just giving his pal Morne a run when the Boks are up by 20 points, because not even Morne would be able to bugger up the game with that lead.   Think he will get say 15 minutes game time in the match in that case,
No chance that Morne would be given game time in the play-off games.  Lambie is a cover for both flyhalf and full back - Morne is a cover for nothing.

I was wondering when this useless coach would bring his mate Morne into the mix.

Seems they've kissed and made up since the Ozzie test disaster.

It's a stupid selection but at least Meyer's acknowledges that Morne is only worth selecting against the really poor teams ... wouldn't want him to throw another test away like he did against the Wallabies.

Probably bring Morne on in the last 5 minutes, where he can't do as much damage as we've seen the punk do in the past.

A really poor selection, Mr Meyer.

He stands too deep ... can't get his backline away ... hopeless defender ... can see the States running down his channel all day long ... we can expect a lot of aimless kicking from this pathetic club player ... I hope he finds touch from time to time ...

I wonder who Meyer's appointed to cover him when he blunders ... Willie??

It must have been the koeksisters that swayed Meyer last night.

Why else would one want this fool in your team?

The dunces at it again - trying to elevate the Stade Francais Reject is no the best flyhalf SA has produced.  He had 59 matches to score 8 tries.    Magnificent achievement according to the dunces.   But then their maginficent flyhalf only makes the Stade Francais starting team when a youngster is not available because he is -
*   a hopeless distributor of the ball;*   he never attacks the gain line;
*   his decision-making stinks to high heaven;*   his defense is on the verge of non-existent.
Morne's real assets are he can kick at goal accurately and off the field he is a very pleasant young gentleman - a close friend of Meyer.   He has the nasty habit of snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory in rugby games  - like happened in his last test in Perth.

Be it as it may - fact is he is not even close to be the best flyhalf we ever had and a serious liability in the squad.
However, we have four members of this site with a sensational superiority complex with a great self-believe that they are also the absolute authority on rugby performances in view of their perfect knowledge of the game of rugby - irrespective of what any experts in the game say.    So the BS flows like lava through their contributions on this site,   We have the continuous cases of Matfield, Fransie and Morne Steyn and Fat Willie as sources of real entertainment provided by the four dunces.

One would swear that scoring a try was somehow a measure of a players attacking ability......those stats provide no context.

A flop over the line is hardly the creative genius of the try scorer now is it?

We don't need stats after goodness knows how many years of having to endure useless Morne at 10 to tell us whether he was good or bad with ball in hand. Our eyes are all we needed.

Morne is the worst attacking 10 we have ever had and potentially the worst defender as well.

He could kick though, if that floats your boat

How dense is this bloody ceraDUNCE.  I know he is a dunce - proven over and over again.  He cannot see how Morne bugger up constantly - he missed out on the Perth test disaster where othr than his disastrous penalty line kick, he did make only about half of all tackle attempts - he missed the rest.  In a recent Stade Francais Club game he did improve on that by missing more than half of his tackle attempts.
He turns facts into opinions and think he is very bright. Obviously knows nothing of rugby and the dunce who supports the insufferable Mozart, Dim Fox and Pakie in all their BS postings.  Last time I heard he got the GOLD STAR FOR SUPREME RUGBY IGNORANCE -  so we should actually be sympathetic to this oxygen thief.
