Boring Super 15

Once the Stormers secured the SA conference spot and the rest of the teams were out of contention there really was nothing to play for. Could only watch about 20 min of the Sharks/Stormers game. Agree that relegation/promotion is always the best option for a healthy competitive league. Good luck with that in this age of entitlement.
BTW - you're a fan of the movie King Corn?

Perhaps the worst SA SuperXV ever. 
The Stormers would not have even made the playoffs were it not for the conference system.
We just dont have the depth in backline positions to be competitive over 5 teams. if a professional rugby player cant catch or pass well- they should not be playing.
We also do not have coaches that are able to coach a backline to the a decent standard. 

Stormers first team would have beaten the Sharks on Saturday - no reason to think they wouldn't have. On a point basis they would have been the 4th team.

 What about the games lost because of bent reffing. How many times were there complaints about the bent down under refs (Almost every week!). Now all that is forgotten once again. 
The Stormers/canes game was a shocker refwise. You cant have all these travesties and then point to a warped log as if it means anything.

 @oimatey, I have actually never watch the movie. Being south african, 'I think we use to have a brand of maize meal porridge which was called King Corn'. This is what we grew up as kids with and my love for it. Just chose the cover as all the other images weren't that great. 
I would really like to know what the true log looks, say if we took all the conference games home and away and average them out based on score to see how well teams performed. 
I think that I will be cancelling my sky sports subscription after the rugby championships.
But ultimately I think that there are probably on 5 good teams in the entire comp. 
I think that the SA teams have been extremely poorly coached. Our best team should have been the sharks by a country mile considering all the players. Here is my summary
Sharks - Poor coaching and lack of structure. Clueless defence with very poor discipline, probably the team with the most red cards and yellow cards. They made mistake letting Jake go. Jake might not have won it but I'm sure that they could have put up with him for another year at least. 
Bulls - Fantastic talent and experience but a game plan that is still stuck back in 2007. Glad Ludeke is gone as they need a person that can bring tactical smarts to the team. 
Cheetahs - Considering that they pushed for a play-off spot and have done well, I don't know why they tried to play mindless attacking rugby. Still probably the most creative back line play in SA. 
Lions - Surprise of the comp and can count themselves very unlucky, but then again the also had a lot of poor calls go their way. Maybe finishing higher than they should. 
Stormers - Can't believe that they made the play-offs, but then again I won't bank on them winning this weekend considering how lethal the brumbies are with ball in hand possession. Again struggle to put teams away and really poor tactically. Need a decent 10 to get things moving. To think that they let Pollard go to the bulls. Might be worth dusting the cheque book off and try to get him back in the cape. There are a few quality flyhalves around at the moment but none at the stormers.

I agree. I found this season very uninspiring! I am also looking forward to the Rugby Champs and absolutely can't wait for the WC to kick off...even though I don't like our odds much!  

Super rugby has been boring for roughly a decade. This has been commented on by players. The competition has no atmosphere either. It's a boring, whored out lifeless garbled mess. Gone are the days when I used to watch every game. Last time I did that was 2012... was beyond torture.

 Sadly I have to agree that this year the S15 seemed to drag on too long. I was watching almost every game at the beginning of the season & sometimes more than once. At the end of the season I was only watching the kiwi games & maybe the wee stormers games just to try & keep a certain poster honest - a noble but futile endeavor 

 3 months should be the cap for the league stages...at most, I would prefer 10 weeks. And the lopsided crap of playing local opponents twice and not playing one of each of the overseas countries sides is crap. Removing that silly crap will be an improvement already!

 Money is dragging the comp down ,the thinking is more teams =more games =more viewers =more money !Cant see me watching anywhere near as many games next year,who wants to watch your own teams bashing into each other all the time ,I want to see our  boys smathing into your guys and the Aussies !How is SA rugby going to improve in a gimped up system ? It reminds me of those "hunting" reserves where they drive some lard butted yank up to a poor old critter tied up waiting to be shot from the back of a truck.I want to saa all teams play each other at least once in a S15 format .

Yeah the money machine over cooks the game...players become overplayed and expendable...leaving herds of injured key players in the wake.

What would be enjoyable but will never happen (because the money machine talks) is a competition over 1 month...the rest of season being occupied with international games and tests spread mainly over the the world.

The one month competition would consist of 20 sides, 4 pools...5 in each group as in WC rugby and done the same way.

The present 15 increased by another 5 (from perhaps Europe and the Americas).

The do or die sudden aspect would create huge international interest and following.

It would be better for rugby and not pocket liners.

Some form of balance and sanity...

On the Money Ward. All teams to play each other once! Best teams get through, the others get to lick their wounds and figure out ways to be more competitive!
