I was rather disappointed by the performance of Burger today.   He did well in the abll carry that lead to De Allende's first try, but for the rest his performance was not really up to standard.  He gave away three penalties and I was not really impressed by his defense either - while he showed zero in breakdown ball recovery.

Wrong again. Burger's physical play along with Etzebeth turned the tide. He made10 tackles, got a try assist and nullified Hooper. He was penalized a lot the one negative....but also forced a penalty at the breakdown. Schalk is looking good,

Burger made a turnover in the beginning of the second half, I say this because I just watched him make it as I play catch up on the game.

Another sweeping statement by Mozart - making ten tackles by an open-sider and missing 2 is really not much to write home about - Brussow for instance made 21.  I think that he was just about average - not much to write home about.

Burger certainly nullified Hooper. He was all over him like a cheap suit. His physicality was there, but as mentioned gave a few penalties away. His shoulder charge on Skelton was pretty half hearted. But he was a big part of the relentless defensive line that broke the Tahs in the second half. Would have thought a 6.5 out of 10.

Burger brings so much energy and aggressiveness. Its contagious. Always looking for the offload. A m ust for the Boks on current form.

Personally I am not sure about Burger - he did particularly well from the bench as an impact player and when he started he would not be consistent throughout matches.  Personally I think he should be on the Springbok bench - not in the starting line-up.
Much of the credit for the win against the Waratahs could be attributed to the fact that the Stormers Tight 5 was considerably better than the Waratahs unit.  That allowed the loosies some space to operate in - but other than Burger inconsistently, the other loosies after especially the replacement of Rhodes was not really a factor in the game.

Not often you see Skulk sent flying like a rag doll but that monster hit from Will Skelton on Skulk must have been a bit embarrassing for one of the alleged hard men of SA rugby. Pwned!

Anyone got a video of that hit?
