Congrats to him, courage & results. He has shown a lot of heart to get back to the top level & his link play is an important dimension to the Stormers & the Boks .

This is actually pretty disappointing from the posters here. A Kiwi posts this great feat by a South African and not one of us even commented on it. Well done Schalk! He may not be the player that he used to be, although he is still bloody good, but to come back from the neck injury and meningitis the way he did does tell you something about his character.
Good on you JW for posting this !

Agreed BB. Was always a Schulk Fan and he still adds quite a lot to the Stormers. He has evolved his game and is much more valuable than he gets credit.

He looks better than when he was young when all he was about was heart, determination and the direct route......he still has all that but has added a subtle touch.

Would I select him ahead of all the quality young loosies we have - no I would not......but of all the old players, Schalk is our most worthy and I could live with him in the Bok squad

I'm not saying he should start for the Boks, but he would be valuable on the bench.

He would not make my bench, but he is playing well

Congrats Schalk - truly remarkable what you have done.
Yes, his physicality is not what it was, but his effort is just as good and far more intelligent -  he's showing unique abilities to distribute, create and link that are far better than any other SA loose forward. How many more offloads have to be made or tries and line breaks created before it becomes obvious he is not a talent left on the bench? He starts on my Bok team. He's a difference maker.

Congratulations Schalk, a magnificent servant for not only SA but World rugby. He may not be the force he once was but is still producing the goods.

Schlk has only just begun starting games. Watch his from improve from where he is. Definitely will be in serious contention for the Bok 7 jersey.

World Rugby Player of the Year...and Come Back Sportsman (in any sport) of the year. What a superb career!

A giant of a man.....it's the unthinkable not to include him in the Bok squad.
