Bye Bye Eddie.....
So much for being committed to the Stormers huh .
Just ask yourself the following:
- Would u rather earn English pounds as opposed to the SA Rand.
- Would u rather managed England as opposed to the Stormers.
- Would u and your family be safer in the UK as opposed to RSA.
Well perhaps "SS" Mitchell will get his break with the Stormers.
I assume they have accepted that requirement and if they did not Jones indicated previously he would not be interested in the job - since the Clubs in England has the final say about for instance releasing players to play for England.
It would be interesting to see what offer they actually made to Jones and that would come out sooner rather than later.
In the meantime it is clear that White made a fool of himself once again by making a public statement on his interest in the job. White's conduct at the Sharks leading to him having to leave the franchise and the dismal performances of Montpellier did not count in his favour either.
What also became clear is that the style of rugby practiced by coaches like White and Meyer is not acceptable to England any longer and by implication not by other NH rugby countries any longer.
I am not sure what will happen in the case of the Stormers any longer - they should try and get Mitchell or Plumtree in the place of Jones. I in fact would believe that Plumtree would be a better option - but I hope the Stormers and Smal in particular to get the situation under control.
What is clear is that aside from the salary - a huge contract release fee will be payable to the Stormers as well - so they will have the funds to go for a top coach.
It is interesting how the coaches seem to be able to ditch one team- and go straight to the next.
I think Eddie Jones would be better for SA
Appalling behaviour by him..to renege on a contract just signed, that shows how loyal this man is....and appalling by the RFU....but we knew that their conduct was despicable already.
It is not a huge sum to buy him out of his contract at all, £100,000 is chicken feed, especially as they were willing to offer Wales £1.5 mill for Gatland ! Bargain basement really.
But, if true, that is me done. My country can do without me after 42 years......and various members of my family too. No more money or support will be forthcoming for the foreseeable. They are a disgrace.
that being said mitchell has the goods to be great but he needs time to build the systems to get the end results.
the difference between our local coaches and foreign coaches is massive and its just obvious in the way they talk ext
I thank you in anticipation.
As for Clive, people seem to forget that it has taken this long to try to fix the mess he left the national side in when he left. He had no players waiting to come through the system and had 8 yrs to get a good flow of players sorted out; we should have been set for a good few years. But no. He did nothing of the sort. And, once he had decided to go, he did not seem to care a jot about the team.As for the Lions....less said the better. He was nearly the death of them.
He has an agenda regarding the RFU and spends his time picking away at them. They chose Lancaster over him and he has a lot of bitterness over that as well as issues from the time he was at the helm. But he has now helped Lancaster lose his job and landed us with a mercenary foreigner who many of us do not want and will not support. It's a disgusting state of affairs and could well be the death of English Rugby, not the saving of it.
I am saddened but also very angry about it.
...best result for England short of a Kiwi coach being selected instead... now they get to learn how the game is played 'down under stylez' so they can hopefully catch up to us...the RWC was a reality check for England showing how far behind they are so becs you should be thanking yr lucky stars mate... sounding more and more xenophobic every day woman..
...no brainer for Jones - more money and far more prestigious coaching England to coaching Bean Brain's dopey lot of no hopers down in Cape Town...he dodged a bullet there..
@Brycy maybe he heard the head of the Stormers Cheering Squad is one Beanhead - maybe that freaked him out
As for Eddie well he has to go where he is going to get paid and he will earn far far more coaching England. Great pity for us though.I am sure Eddie will be deeply regretting having to coach the Stormers and living in CApe Twon - perhaps the premier city in the world. This will doubtless be mentioned when he comes to write his memoirs and dwells on things he regretted etc.It shows how much bucks talk as he will now have to live in cold dank England!! What a price to pay. It also shows why our players leave.
I observe that the three hapless amigos, the dark duck,ou brycy and the notorious hacked waaaughahaha are attempting to be witty which in their case is a recipe for disaster! Having a go at the redoubtable Beeno it seems!! Great men always become a focus of attention of course!
Beeno sending the three amigos down the line with a perfect backhand!!
Lancaster should have stayed, full stop. It's idiots like you who have no business butting in about these matters that have condemned us to this man and who have changed the shape of our sport forever. It is a sorry affair all round and it is disgusting.
It's not just me who feels this way, other life long supporters who are far older than any of you here will not be supporting our team any longer. And this is what they gave reduced us to.mI hope they are happy with their little mercenary.
England have no worthy coaches, they had to get a foreigner in.
All my Pom mates are over the moon that Eddie has been appointed.
Its not about where the bloody coach comes from, its about winning matches......to stand a chance of winning you need the best coach available.
Anyone who says he/she would rather their side lose every game with an English coach is not a true supporter.
True supporters want their sides to win, regardless of where players or coaches come from.......rules are rules, if you qualify as a player to represent another country, then good on you......as for coaches, it should not matter a damn what nationality they are.
Thinking anything otherwise is archaic, conservative and narrow minded and certainly does not have the countries rugby at heart
When I see foreign coaches like Warren Gatland, Joe Sch. midt and Vern Cotter all looking a bit awkward and uncomfortable during the singing of the national anthems I thank my lucky stars that we at least have a home-grown coach . . . even if he is a bit of an idiot. At least he's South African.
I'm with becs here. I think Stuart Lancaster is an excellent coach who was doing a decent job with England and just needed more time. To fire him just because the vagaries of the RWC draw lumped him with two genuine contenders in Australia and Wales was very short-sighted.
England rugby supporters will regret this decision.
And I am a true supporter, which is why I see the folly and disgrace in all this. People like Rooinek and Hakwa understand what I am saying, I don't know why you don't. Gosh, even the NZ Coaches were telling the RFU not to get rid of Lancaster and that we would regret going down this route. As you hold them up as the masters of the Rugby universe, I would think you would take their opinion over mine any day of the week. Then again, I know nothing and my opinion counts for nought.
One last thing.....the adorable Mr Jones has just said he won't select any England players from abroad....ha ha ha ha !!!!!!
Thank you Rooinek, I appreciate it
...becs , like you idon't really care what happens to English rugby...yr probably right - Eddie Jones has as much chance of turning England's fortune around as any other English coach - that's because you can't make honey out of dogsh!t...
...why Lancaster left is beyond me . ..was all the dopey English supporters yapping in his ear just too much.. well you got what you deserve if that's the case.....
... putting yr head in the sand and ignoring the fact that yr world ranking is at an all time low won't help much either ... so what could be the best way forward..
...short of an England team joining the Super Rugby comp to gain some real SH rugby experience , a down under coach is probably the next best thing...
..you do realise SH teams rule world rugby currently I assume...by design and not by accident .....Wales being the exception with their Kiwi coach taking them up to second in world rankings for a time this year- testament to how down under coaches are making a real difference in the NH...
More and more, all the teams above have players of foreign descent so they can compete
We think our rugby is in disrepair.......but the NH rugby really sucks.
No brains, no brawn either.
