Can the nobble last much longer?

 With the poorest center pairing in Super 15 comprising of Steyn and Pieterse and with two lock geriatrics - one on the bench - it definitely will go on.  The only benefit to the Sharks is the absence from the team of the dismal failure Alberts.

 Wouldn't it be something if they can turn it around this weekend? !!! A betting fool can cash in if a miracle happens, but sadly their woes will in all probability continue.

Mike, you do realize Steyn hasn't played in the last couple defeats? Steyn coming back will be a huge benefit, not a hindrance  

The teams defence will improve with Steyn. He may miss some one on one tackles but the teams defensive will improve as a whole with him organising the defence.

 He played in the worst game of the lot though. Irrespective of the outcome,  the chiefs game is where the rot set in. His ill discipline started the week before against the Stormers though.

Problem is I have (based on the 2013 and 2014 Super 15 campaign - as well as his first four matches this year) NO confidence in Steyn's defense.   His miss tackle ratio of 2014 was over 26% and in the four matches this year 28%.   That is when he did attempt tackles and opponents did not just run past him without even any attempt to make a tackle - which also happened last year on a number of occasions.
Something serious has gone wrong with Steyn in France before his return to SA.   I would call it his attitude in playing the game.   He became his own worst enemy, with an attitudinal problem of being self-centered.  He seems to regard himself as above reproach and being in the team without any question marks as to his performance - even if the latter is deficient.
In a discussion on Boots&All on the issue of discipline in the Sharks team after the three red cardings, it was mentioned that Bismarck and Fransie look sour when on the field of play in matches.   Whenever anybody touch them, they react negatively by hitting out without restraint at the opposing players.   That is why it seems to confirm the problem with Steyn is  as mentioned in the previous paragraph.
I may be wrong - but the Sharks backline will malfunction again.
