CC: Lions versus WP

Eddie Jones has a lot of work. Year of Alistair Coetzee have taken their toll. Backline has no clue.  Lions are the best coached side in the Currie Cup.

 Sad day for WP, well done Lions.

 This was humiliating - the Lions ran straight through WP time and time again.  They did to WP what they have done to the Cheetahs a week earlier.  
Granted the picture may be somewhat different next year when the Stormers have their Springboks back, but as said Jones will have to do a lot of upgrading when eh takes over.
I am very worried about playing Kolbe at full back.  The little guy is a liability on defense.  It is time that De Jongh should be shifted down to Vodacom rugby level.  
The only WP backline players who really impressed me was Johnny Kotze and Robert du Preez - the rest were real BS. 
Sure - the Lions are the best coached side in CC - but they were also the best-coached SA side in Super 15.   No big name players - but they have real class in most positions.
If I have to select teams for Super Rugby next year - it would be a great advantage for the Stormers and for the Lions:-

The jury is out on the full back (probably Taute) and they will have to find another wing (maybe De Jongh - he is no center).
Lions
The problem with the Lions is they have too many players to choose from - but my side will look like follows:-

That is an awesome team.  As said they also have Mnisi and there bench would be a huge one as well.
  
 

You left their best player out in Mnisi. He has to be at 12 with Vorster at 13.
Booysen is not close to being a lock, he plays 7 or 8.
Erasmus is a great find at 4. Young lad who is big and gets stuck in. Seen him score two good tries already.
Marx is our next Bismark....brute power. I like the way he has found his feet and now imposing himself. Same can be said of the very impressive Mnisi.
I also liked the look of Janse van Rensburg at 13....plenty of power there and I saw the odd jink. Good to see this youngster playing at this level.....much like seeing Dries Swanepoel doing the same at the Bulls.

I did mention Mnisi - but he has not got what Vorster and Hanekom has at center.  I do not think he will crack it on Super  Rugby level.   In my mind he should be a good impact player - hence my comment that he should be on the bench.   
I may be wrong - Mnisi did improve under Ackerman's guidance - but there is still some finesse needed in his case - he does not look good under pressure.
The player I did not mention is Van der Walt - that is a better flyhalf people give him credit for.
Van Rensburg is still a bit out of depth - the center who really impressed me last night was Johnny Kotze - absolute quality that one.
