Take a look at the PGA at Whistling Straights....living on Lake Michigan  will never compete with Clifton. But there are worse places.

Well its a beautiful course and position is picturesque...18 holes cost you $385 (R4940)

caddy fees $100 (R1283)...might seem reasonable in dollars but over R5000 for a game
You are very fortunate Mozart.

That's pretty expensive by normal USA standards. Golf is  accessible  for most  in this country, but courses like Whistling Straits or Pebble Beach benefit from their TV exposure.
Personally I always enjoy courses next to big bodies of water so much more. Lake Michigan isn't in play anywhere really, unlike the ocean at Pebble or Cyprus Point but it adds to the vibe.

Some lovely courses in USA, Moz. On my bucket list to come play a few when I save up.

Well if you make it to Chicago, we have some pretty nice courses...including Conway Farms in my suburb where they are playing the BMW in a few weeks.
