A player that tends to go under the radar but has been pretty impressive this year......he was excellent for the Lions on the weekend.......how the hell did he not get a Bok training squad call up?
There are a few others Meyer has missed out on like centres Odendaal and Vorster.......not to mention Kriel at 6 and Coetzee at 15.
Mostert the Lions lock has been very good as well but I guess his size at 112kg to 115kg counts against him.
Big fan of Mapoe, he has always impressed me......he is on fire at the moment.
I just think the list above deserved a training spot even if nothing came of it.
How does Catrakillis make the squad and a player like Combrink or Vorster does not.
Jury is out for me on who is better between Odendaal and Vorster......I'd have it as even at the moment......and to think neither made the Baby Bok squad a year ago......shows how poor Theron really is.
Time is passing Stokkies by, its a pity he is injured.
I am a big fan of Vortser but just as much of Odendaal.
I like the sheer strength of Esterhuizen as well......once he settles, he will wreck havoc
Frans Venter of the Cheetahs is also playing great rugby......we have 12's to burn at the moment.
I just wish that some other 13's were given a go.......would love to see Kobus v/Wyk of the Stormers moved to 13, he played centre at U21 level and at school, would also love to see Pat Howard and Tyler Fisher given runs at 13
Mapoe and Sadie to a lesser extent are doing well at 13, JJ has gone awol and de Jongh will never make the grade as a centre as he is too small. The Sharks are idiots for playing Murray or JP at 13.
Exactly.....the reason Pat Howard is leaving is because he cant get past de Jongh......which must be frustrating for most of us know de Jongh is a nice little player but is never going to dominate given his size.
Kobus v/Wyk should be moved to 13 and tried there......he would provide the same kind of clout JJ did when JJ was at his best as he has the same kind of speed and step as JJ has......but v/Wyk has a harder edge.
Same applies at the Sharks......why on earth play has been Murray or a wing in JP, when you have the talent of Tyler Fisher in your ranks?
None of it makes sense.
Its also a big pity Stokkies Hanekom is not in action for the Lions as he was brilliant in last years CC.
JP du Plessis has moved to the Cheetahs or Lions I think and we don't even see him make the bench......not sure why not.
