Jaco Peyper will referee his 50th test match when Wales take on France in the RWC quarterfinal.

That's quite an achievement if you ask me. 50 tests in what must be the most demanding, unrewarding and thankless job on the planet . . . a professional rugby referee.

I take my hat off to these refs. The amount of absue and vitriol they cop from ignorant yet highly opinionated morons is unbelievable. Amazing that Jaco has stuck it out for as long as he has. Well done!

Redsman, I've stated my opinion on Bryce Lawrence several times on this board. It's a minority opinion but here is one example:

"Aug 29, 2014, 09:35

What exactly did Bryce Lawrence have to apologise for? For having a different interpretation of the ruck than someone else? For not having eyes in the back of his head?

Even if he did make mistakes (and I'm still to find even one indignant and finger-pointing South African ref-basher who can articulate these alleged mistakes he made . . . the only blatant mistake I remember from that game is Bryce Lawrence not allowing James O'Connor to retake a conversion when the Springboks charged too early) . . . but I digress, even if he did make mistakes, do you see rugby players apologising for knock-ons or other mistakes they make on the field? Do you see flyhalves apologising for missed kicks? Why is it different for refs? It's not a truth and reconciliation commission for crying out loud, it's a game of rugby and this idea that a ref has to apologise for alleged mistakes after every game is just plain ridiculous.

Bryce Lawrence was never fired or relieved of his duties because of incompetence or poor performance. He did state that he was not prepared to travel to South Africa to ref games after he received death threats from blubbering excuse-making little crybabies who chose to blame Bryce Lawrence for that RWC QF defeat rather than blame the pathetic game plan that involved Victor Matfield and Schalk Burger being used as the flyhalf and the inside centre. The IRB obviously couldn't have a member of their panel refusing to ref in a specific country so that is why he stepped down.

Bryce Lawrence was (and probably still would be) a world-class referee . . . easily one of the top 10 referees in the world . . . a decent rugby-loving man just trying to do his job, whose career was ended in one of the most shameful, embarrassing and disgusting episodes in South African rugby history."

Here is another:

"Baboon-ou, just so I'm clear, when you refer to the Bryce Lawrence "debacle" are you referring to the disgraceful and embarrassing episode where the shrill and indignant squealing of blubbering and excuse-making half-wits like you - together with vitriolic Facebook campaigns and even death threats - caused a decent rugby man to give up his profession because he feared for his life if he ever reffed in South Africa again?

Is that the "debacle" you're referring to?

A truly shameful chapter in South African rugby!"

So there you have from the arch jackasses himself.

Now perhaps everyone but the very bent kbbs can see what a hopeless case this noob is when it comes to cheating refs. No matter how bad, and Bryce Lawrence is the worst I ever saw, ou rooibozo will stick up for the ref

Such a sniveling coward is the bozo that he can't call out a ref. Bwhahahahaha

ok fair enough.. I was clearly going for the aussie that day and I even thought he was biased as toward the wallabies... but I respect your stand  - admirable - looking for the best in the refs who definitely have ahard job...

I watched a pattern from Bryce well prior to RWC 2011 though and he was blatantly unfair in a number of Super rugby games... then in 2011 RWC he reffed the aussies three times from memory...

Then again we all have different values and heirarchy thereof... one of my top values is fairness... something that i cannot reconcile with refereeing that is biased... incompetence i can cop though....

It appears you have high values around at least wanting to believe the best... may i ask though in your work life are you not in a position where you have to work out whether someone is trying to screw you or act in unscrupulous way? My profession involves this nearly daily so my tolerance and detection of ulterior motives are very highly tuned... hence my lack of trust toward refs... especially when so much money / prowess that comes with rugby world cups....

Uh-oh . . . I thought that might set Baboon-ou off. The mere mention of Bryce Lawrence gets Baboon-ou all tearful and purple-faced.

Bryce Lawrence was booted off the IRB elite panel of refs. The very bent. KKBs made him their ref of the year and he retired job done having shafted the Boks.

After that Crooked display there was no other option for Brycy Lawrence whose father wrote the infamous get the Japies letter to the Oz refs that set off years of biased Crooked reffing against SA sides. Brycy was a chip off the old block for sure!

The weak dumb and corrupt rooibozo can't admit any off this. Hahahahahaha

"beeno in your opinion who arent bent refs then?"
I can answer that. It's very simple. For Baboon-ou, a ref is bent if he ever blows his whistle and gives a decision against the team that Baboon-ou is supporting.

Peeper do you read these childish rants before you post them. Being a professional rugby ref must be the 'most demanding, thankless and unrewarding job on the planet'. Apart from the obvious redundancy that is just silly......more demanding than a heart surgeon, less rewarding than being a garbage collector?

For heaven sake stop posting tripe will you?
