Balanced out of course by the nightmares of Savea running through him, past him, over him...and he'll be facing Savea again by the looks of things.

Savea is not in the AB team this time around - the player that Hendricks will face is Charles Piutau - a very good wing with more speed than Savea. Hendricks will have even more defense problems in facing him than he had against Savea.
Hendricks was pathetic when he faced Piutau in the Cheetahs - Blues match as well, Bad news from a defense perspective that o ne.

Thanks Mike, I read on a NZ site discussing the 5 biggest match-ups in the game that Savea will feature. Maybe they were just guessing.

I'm sure he's well aware that Piutau's probably as dangerous a winger as Savea is & h opefully Hendriks avoids using any JJ Engelbrecht-style tackles ......... I'll surely weep .

Hendriks was great on attack for much of last year- but got exposed defensively against Savea and even the Welsh Winger. He has at least got pace- which is not the case with JP anymore

JP offers good stout defence and aerial protection. He can read play better than our faster alternatives and actually did good work at first receiver which showcased his distribution skills. When speaking of attack, we must be more specific. Are they creators or finishers, and are they a threat because they are fast or because they run good lines? JP ticks more boxes. Most of these speedsters are lazy, clinging to the touchline like rock crabs waiting for play to come to them and generally aren't very bright.

Goes to show just how much the All Blacks rate us ... trying out new combos ... bringing in their second and third stringers just to give them a little game time ...
That's confidence for you.
They fear us about as much as they fear Italy.

Just a pity then that they lost to us last time out and that we had great chance to beat them in NZ blown by Hogaard and Lomp. Do you see the flaw in your logic?

Mozart, agreed, but Morne also blew it at least twice, being a experienced campaigner, yet you choose to focus on a rookie's mistake? That's the only way of gaining experience. Lots of Bok stalwarts have made even more basic errors without the fallout. I mean, how much more stupid than Bakkies' headbut on Cowen do you get? We need to blood youngsters constantly to find the true test players. Playing someone from the bench every now and then won't do. We had 4 years under Meyer and we still don't have tried backups. Not good enough. He could have done much better.

The problem Draad is that these rookies don't show signs of greatness. There's a big difference between a veteran making an error that is the exception to the rule and a rookie showing a pattern of behaviour exhibiting flaws. Meyer has given a great number of players a chance and they have by and large have failed his trust. What more can he do? It's not his fault the fan favourites are flubs. It's a very weak generation of scant talent. But it's the veterans who are holding the team together who get the blame. How many youngsters are really hard done by? None. And to think, the vgery next coach will have no Morne, Du Preez, Jean, Alberts, Victor, Schalk, Habana, Flip amongst many others... quite frankly that's a very scary prospect! And I assure you, the next coach won't be half as intelligent as Meyer. Perhaps then our scrubs posing as fans will have some appreciation for the man. I personally won't hold my breath.

Disaster
One has to wonder whether you are constantly in cloud cuckoo land. Pietersen is the laziest of all wings in SA - so why is he exempted from the laziness category you gave.
The handicap Meyer is that he stuck too long or still have the following useless non-performers in his squad:-
Morne, Du Preez, Alberts, Victor and Flip.
The above are handicaps in performance requirements - they are useless reputation players - bad news for the team at best. They should with the questionable exception of the discipline deficiency demon Flippie should never have been near the team. Morne is a proven flop and match-loser - Du Preez was awful in the June tests last year and clearly not match-fit - Alberts is always the lowest work rate player in the Springbok and Sharks teams and Victor has with considerable ease destroyed the Tight 5 of any team he plays for - but in the main the Springbok team. All of them are way past their best and are has-beens and the never-has-been Morne Steyn.
The players the next coach will miss are not those 5 - it will be only Jean, Burger and Habana. There are adequate top replacements for two of the three in the Springbok squad - Habana being the only problem.

Shall I post Mornes recordsagain? LMAO!! And the empty space that occupies Lambie and Goosens column? A proven match loser you say? When? His heroics span a Lions series, Currie Cups, Tri Nations, Super Rugby championships... all of which saw him feature prominently as either thecentral figure or part of a core group of 3 or 4 players. Your dishonesty is disgusting as ever! You invented a narrative in the loss to Australia in 2012, you invented a narrative for the Dunedin loss (scores tied before Goosen replaced him, yet you credit him for the two tries conceded because of Goosens errors), and you invented a narrative ror the Ellis Park test the following year. That's all youkeep clinging onto, year after year in spit of the fact that I've systematically eviscerated your crudely conceived little stories time and again. I particularly laugh at your prediction the Boks would never score tries with Morne, yet they did just that, and Morne was the key trigger man! And the your decent to a dreary sulk and proclamation that they were moral loses, because if Morne played the tests were not won "correctly" and the tries were not good tries. Quite honestly, the lunacy that trickles from your gaping blab hole warrants serious concern, these are some of the most irrational and ill conceived dribble I have ever encountered. The compulsive lying reflective of someform of psycholigical disturbance. Could it be sociopathic in nature? One does wonder. But clearly something is very off in Tokkiestan.

Morne played in
* one test in 2012 against the AB's and was a major contributor to the loss;
* two tests in 2013 - both lost with Morne playing a seriously negative role in both
We were lucky he did not play in 2014 - after the Perth disaster Meyer had a modicum of sense and kept him out of the team.
Morne the biggest matchwinner of the last 8 years has the worst record of anyone with more than 5 games at flyhalf in losing of tests. I gave his record elsewhere and it reads like a disaster -
2012 - Played 7 - win 3 - drew 2 - lost 22013 - Played 12 - win 10 - lost 22014 - Played 3 - win 2 - lost 1
He played in 22 tests and was involved in 5 losses - just about a 68,18% winning record. If that is the best matchwinner in 8 years our record has really gone down the drain further than I have ever imagined. Matchwinner - Blaas my siel

Moz, I was talking anout the ONE test Morne missed a lot of kicks. I am not of opinion that Morne should be discarded and Im all for it for him to be the nr2 FH for the boks at this stage. I was never convinced about lambie and with the little game time he had this year, he is too much of a risk at 10 for the crunch games. We know what we have in Jean, Frans, JP, Victor and Jannie. The new guard should start as much as possible. I can't understand why both Strauss and Brits are in the squad. Pick one of them to back up Bissie and give ecposure to another 2. Deon Fourie would have been a good option. I don't want to get rid of the old guard, but the younger guys should not have been this green at this stage. I can think of lots of wasted opportunities.

In principle I agree with you Draad. But if Hendricks, JJ, Step, Goosen, Raainacht, Malherbe, Marcel, Stephanie, Lood, Mohoje, Whiteley to name a few.....had really performed and seized the chance, HM wouldn't have so many green players around.

With due respect the problem is not the new players - some of them performed in most respects well - but was short in some aspects that would have corrected themselves with a bit more experience in the team. They never got a chance to really establish themselves.
Most of them were in fact just replacements for injured players and Meyer's tendency always has been to run back to reputation players to fill positions. Most of the reputation players were worse than the younger players in performance - yet they were kept around and always fell back on - with new players getting no real chances.
Problem further is your interpretation of player performances are seriously flawed as a result of prejudice. You never criticized failures in reputation player performances - but goes on endlessly in the case of other players. At least four of the players you mentioned would be internationals in most teams of the world - but is in competition with your favourites and is constantly - and in some cases totally unfairly - criticized by you.
Meyer is the main problem - his constant indecision and poor player management has caused us to be in a seriously-defective situation in the WC year. There has been far too many cases of that and examples are ample. Why select players that has retired from international rugby and then keep them even though they under-performed? Players like Steenkamp, Bakkies Botha, Jacque Fourie and even Ruan Pienaar, Fourie du Preez and Victor Matfield are examples. Juan Smith was called up in one match - but was so poor Meyer never called him up again.
Even though you pretend not to see the deficiencies of the latter players - they did under-perform in most matches they played in and proved amply that were way past their best. They have been a serious drawback in team development. Bakkies and Steenkamp saw they were not competitive anymore and retired from international rugby - if they did not they would still be in the squad. Fourie du Preez and Jacque Fourie were in such a poor physical condition when they turned up to play for the Springboks, that there performances were spotty and in some matches below par. Du Preez's case has been dealt with at length elsewhere - Fourie was sent back to Japan because even Meyer could not stomach the shocking physical condition he was in when reporting at the recent camp. Like in June last year - Du Preez was in poor physical condition and was barely average in form before he was injured because of deficient match fitness. This year he did not even get to the Springbok camp - he went to Japan and got injured in training because of poor physical condition. Is that the way to go?
On the whole - the problem was Meyer never planned anything insofar as squad development for the WC is concerned and has landed the Springboks in a seriously defective situation where inexperienced players with less than 5 tests are now keen elements in the team on Saturday and in going forward to the WC that will not change.
