Geez I wouldn't have "put my money" on Dave missing one player in his new list. And it appears he has to start all over again. But I like the concept....next time we play the ABs we field 7 teams against them....damn that should cut down on that pesky open space.

I did look up Kirsten retiring but could not find anything other than him being advised to but I stand to be corrected.
The list of S15 movements does mention him as retired. That is a pity as he was a good young tighthead.  Dreyer would have to replace him then.

 Saffex, just because you can name 105 SA rugby players doesn't automatically mean you have great depth. The Bok team that has just finished it's Europe trip had a few players out at times and lost badly to Ireland and performed poorly vs Wales.I would've thought those results showed the exact opposite of what you are spouting above?

Lots of depth in the forwards, but many of the backs will struggle to make the required level of SuperXV

We need trials like in the old days.  

The trials were always great fun...unfortunately gone along with long tours. Instead we get bloodless S15 matches.  

 Moola if you actually took note on here most of us are in agreement that our coach is selling us short and that the Bok side selected this year was no representation of our strength. You get the picture?

Every single player on that list is s15 standard with many beyond that standard.

Bulls prop Frik Kirsten has been forced to call a premature end to his rugby career following a serious neck injury. The former Junior Springbok player suffered a neck injury in March whilst playing his 34th match for the Bulls and underwent surgery after that.  Although the surgery proved successful, medical advice was for the 26-year old player not to play rugby again.  Kirsten, who studied B.Comm (Accounting) at the University of Pretoria while playing professional rugby, graduated with an honours degree and will now pursue a career in accounting, hoping to become a chartered accountant. Xander Janse van Rensburg, High Performance Manager at the Blue Bulls, said it was sad to lose a player of Kirsten's ability, but applauded the fact that the player prepared for a career after rugby while still playing. "We continuously tell all our players, especially in our junior structures, that they should prepare themselves for situations where injuries can cut short their careers.  "Frik is a fine example of someone who continued his studies despite his rugby career and can now face the future with confidence. He will leave a massive gap as a player and leader, but his health is more important than anything else. We want to thank him for his contribution to the Bulls family of which he was part from schoolboy level up to Super Rugby. Go well Frik."  Bulls coach Frans Ludeke, who picked Kirsten for the first time in 2009, thanked the player for his dedication and contribution towards the team. "Frik was part of a great era and of the squads that won Super Rugby and Currie Cup titles. He was also called into the Springbok squad last year and had a great career ahead of him.  "It is very unfortunate to lose him now, as tighthead props are prime assets, but that is rugby and life. He will be missed, no doubt and we wish him well in his new career," Ludeke said. Kirsten thanked the Blue Bulls and his team mates.  "I had wonderful times at Loftus Versfeld and made friends for life. It was great being part of a fantastic squad who achieved many targets and milestones.  "It is not the ideal way to end the game, but I am fully focused and prepared for the new phase of my life. I will still be around, supporting my younger brother, Jannes (Blue Bulls Under-21), and the rest of the boys. Allow me to thank all the supporters as well, as they kept us on our toes and often reminded us that we also played on their behalf."
For th record further - F rabnsie was statistically and factually the worst inside center in Super 15 two years in succession.   Plumtree is right - he is not a center's arse - or perhaps he is.   He was useless in the tests in 2012 and worse eve r since.

Sure - it ws Plumtree who got fired.   However, the coach who idolizes  Fransie was also given a choice - resign or we fire you.   One reason for that was the putrid performances of the Sharks backkline kept the supporters  away from  Sharks matches  - and who was to blame for that - Fat Fransie.
We will see what Venter makes out of that one in Super 15 - my bet is a permmanent move to full back.

WAS a class act - but for performances since 2012 - w hen he came back from France when he was anything but

 We will see - Steyn will have to adjust his playing style drastically - or he will be a goner.   

 Nope he just needs to keep doing what he does best. He needs to play a SBW role for us and has at times. Need to see more of him imposing himself physically and offloading in contact.
