He unfortunately never heeded the warning from that esteemed rugby fundi Beeno.

The main oaks in the Boks this afternoon were:

Bissie, Etzebeth and the brilliant Marcell Coetzee - Burger was brilliant when he came on. Whitely was good as was the Beast.  Jannie was too hot headed. Koch was very good especially in the loose where he showed great mobility. Nyankane was solid.

I felt Louw was solid but not much more and Mhoje made up the numbers.

Matfiled was as pap as ever shunning the work of a lock and at 105 kg he knew hsi very severe limitations and tried to make tackles in the backline getting driven back meters.

It was nice to see Flip doing well for the World 15.

Of the backs Pienaar was okay but reinach looked a lot more active and dangerous. Pollard helpe in making atry but was not his brilliant best and his goal kicking on the day poor.

Allende was immense and Kriel shone brightly. Allende showed very nice pace in creating his try near the end. I do hope the card is seeing the light!!

Jean made a very good reappearance and hopefully he will go from strength to strength.

Haban did not back hs pace which was telling but looked okay. JP loafed away as usual and we need a more dynamic wing. Willie was an ever present threat and Lambie made an acceptable return.

Players needing the chop. Well matfield of course and Mohoje the quota player. Who are the three best scrummies is a moot point. Faf, Reinach and somebody. Probably out of Fourie Du Preez and Pienaar?

Let me see if you with two of my observations  at the same time.... HasBEEN.

1) De Allende is our best attacking centre

2) De Allende is not a great defender in space.

Save your crow, for yourself as HM produces another great performance with half of the Boks injured or just coming back from injury.  Go Matfield!

Damian did exactly what I said he does well. I am still waiting for everyone to catch-up with me.

Dr Mozzzz and Card cant be too comfortable about the Allende issue! Hahahahahahaha
I really like the look of this center combination.
As for matfiled one only hopes something happens and he cant make the RWC. He is very detrimental to our chances and appears to have some Rasputin type of hold on Meyer.
Lambie was fine on his return and hopefully will improve each matchas he regaisn match sharpness.

Agree basically as shown in my assessment of players playing today.   The problem with mozart and Desert Disaster is that they do not assess player performances based on performance, but on the basis of prejudice.
I was very impressed with De Allende today - by some distance the best player of all the players playing today.   I was also delighted about Jean's return and Kriel's showing at 13.   I think what Meyer should seriously consider is to start with De Allende and Kriel at 12 and 13 and then bring De Villiers on from the bench - replacing Pietersen on the wing.   When De Villiers is ready to start - he should move De Allende to 13 and Kriel to the wing.   Signs are that the center situation has improved drastically and that Jacque Fourie can stay in Japan and Frans Steyn send there soonest.
I think Pienaar's service was too slow and that caused unnecessary pressure on Pollard.   When Reinach came on the flow of the backline was much better and Pollard also played better.   I would still play Reinach as starter and put Faf on the bench.
Was happy with Coetzee and Whiteley, but not with Louw.
Insofar as the Tight 5 is concerned I think that was the aspect of the team that showed some deficiencies.   Jannie was not up to standard and Matfield did not contribute to that component of the game.   It is time to replace both of them.

Lambie is, at the very peak of his ability, a placeholder. Nothing more. And who was that man who setup Damian' s first try? Yes, one of our best players

So Tokkie your master plan is we bring on Jean at minute 60 and shift two other players in new positions. Can this old fool get any sillier?

Furthermore, don't be too hasty regarding Damian. He has many challenges ahead. What awaits him in the RC is far tougher than what he faced today.

Whatever happens in the future happens. The point is he has EARNED HIS SPOT by being the best center in SA week after week.
He was sensational this afternoon and showed a vast array of skills.

Mozart and  Desert Disaster will never admit De Allende is any good.  They will lie and misinterpret performance and will always try and discredit him.   Please note - not a word about him having a top game today - with Mozart adding his normal junk to try and discredit him.

 Mozart
Crap.  I implied that for the time being Jean should for his own good play from the bench until he is fully match-fit.  That would mean that he should start later on when the suggested can be made.   It would be madness to start with De Villiers next week - or even the week afterwards - he was clearly trying to avoid taking contact and he must be phased in gently.
What i suggested is to retain De Allende and Kriel on the field of play and rather replace the under-performing Pietersen.
Are you too big a fool not to see logic in that?

Nobody earns their spot until they perform in an Oz/NZ test.....but I agree he has earned his chance. Spot the difference.

Tokkie your plan for next week is foolish......that's all I'm saying. Actually all I needed to say was your plan for next week....the rest goes without saying.

Beeno predicted the rise of Allende. AI said malherbe and koch were gun uns. backed Etzebeth, kept the faith in Habana and Jean while there were cries for their removal from uninformed sources.Beeno has an impeccable record!
Dr Mozzz on the other hand writes off youngster after youngster and then slowly back peddals  as events prove him wrong.Spot the difference!!
One hopes the  good Dr's form im proves as we are getting near RWC time!

Why is it so foolish.  Both De Allende and Kriel has played at wing in the past and we are stuck with a poor wing in Pietersen.   Why should we even have Pietersen starting in any event - he is NOT up to standard at present.   But I forgot - Pietersen was in the 2007 WC - so he is untouchable in your terms.

Its foolish to ask two new young Boks to play a second position in the closing last 20 minutes of a test against Oz ......Tok.

Ja well none of these youngsters you supposedly backed are proven at test level yet are they Habeen-ou? Two years ago I was being told I missed the JJ, Goosen wave. A wave you were very much part of....shampies. That was a dumper hehe.

As for the youngsters I have been an Etzebeth and Pollard fan from the beginning. De Allende I have asterisked with a defensive question mark.....Step, Raainacht and Coetzee I don't believe in.

Nothing is proven except the two players I backed have had great test starts...and the three I haven't backed are still question marks.

Next week we know more.

Congrats to the Boks, who is crowing now?

Pun intended although I doubt I have to point this out to Moz.
I will watch the game tomorrow but I heard there were 6 tries scored by the Boks & only a couple of yellow cards. Did Bakkies bash wee Matfield?

JW  Bakkies would only need to look sternly at wee matfiled for him to collapse.
The one yellow was rediculous. The one on Willie perhas deserved.

 Desert Disaster
Were you not the one who said that Mermoz at 90 kgs and 5'11" is a monster and that he would show up De Allende today?
But then what can one expect from an idiot who knows nothing about rugby and even failed De Allende in a game that never took place.
