So these guys who were so anti Jake are going to play there!!Sport 24

Cape Town - The agent of Springbok brothers, Bismarck and Jannie du Plessis, has confirmed that the Sharks duo will play their rugby outside of South Africa after the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

That club is likely to be French club Montpellier, where former Springbok and Sharks coach Jake White is at the helm.

The brothers’ agent, Gerrie Swart, told The Mercury newspaper that their move will be “out of South Africa”.

Swart said playing for another South African franchise was never a consideration. He said their likely destination would be Montpellier as that is the only club he’s been in contact with. Swart, though, admitted that “paperwork has not been fully attended to”.

It is well-documented that the brothers’ relationship with White was not the best and according toThe Mercury, they wanted to get out of their commitment with Montpellier (a deposit of €150 000 per player had reportedly been paid to them) once they heard White had become coach of the French club. (one wonders about these reports)

However, it appears that despite the best efforts of the SA Rugby Union and the Sharks, the poor pulling power of the rand will not be enough to keep the Du Plessis brothers in South Africa.

Apart from White, there is already a large South African contingent at Montpellier.

Shaun Sowerby is White's assistant coach, while Pat Cilliers (prop) and Robert Ebersohn (centre) already ply their trade there.

Schalk van der Merwe (Lions, prop), Demetri Catrakilis (Stormers, flyhalf), Jacques du Plessis (Bulls, loose forward/lock), Cameron Wright (Sharks, scrumhalf/flyhalf), Wiaan Liebenberg (Bulls, loose forward) Paul Willemse (Grenoble, lock) will also join from the 2015/16 season.

Former Lions prop Jacobie Adriaanse will also join Montpellier for a short stint until after the Rugby World Cup (October 31).

This is just one club. Is there any wonder we are struggling. Now the sharks are importing over the hill sa players and bringing them back here.

It looks like most Saffa sides will be starting from scratch after the RWC

I am not sure Jannie and Bismarck really wants to go to Montpellier.  Please note the following extract from the above article:-
"It is well-doc umented that the brothers’ relationship with White was not the best and according to The Mercury, they wanted to get out of their commitment with Montpellier (a deposit of €150 000 per player had reportedly been paid to them) once they heard White had become coach of the French club."
Even though you said you wonder about those reports - the reports actually are factual and there are indeed bad blood between Jake White and the two brothers.   However, the deposit of circa R4 500 000 was paid to them and nobody would like to lose that kind of money.   I think they would prefer to join another club - but the others would probably not come up with that kind of money purely to get a commitment from them.
The problem remains - the Rand is getting weaker all the time and that is the main reason for the flight of players overseas.   There are only one alternative and that is that SARU must enter into contracts with the top players and pay them decent salaries.   This has been reported on in the past and a number of 42 players was mentioned with a remuneration package of circa R5 500 000 per year rumoured.
However, I am not particularly worried about the departure of 30+ year old players - I am much more worried about players like Paul Willemse and Jacques du Plessis leaving.  Another thing is that too many of the present players in some franchises are too old and should have been replaced already.    Just think along the Matfield line in that regard.

Looking at the Sharks scrum against the Rebels - where will they be without Jannie and Bissie?
Where is the back up?
Jake is sure building up Montpellier! Wont surprise me if they win the French comp under Jake!

The prop situation of the Sharks is a worry.  The bloody fools contracted FAT Stevens rather than getting younger players.
I do not think that Montpellier will get to win the Top 14 Orange competition soon.  The problem is that Jake is stuck in a timewarp of the past.   The top French clubs do not play his style of rugby anymore - they have moved on and are playing a much more ball-in-hand game than Jake would use in Montpellier.

M ichael, you are an embarrassment. The rugby Jake advocates is modern test rugby.

Modern rugby by White - what a laugh?   He does not know modern rugby if it hits him in the face.    This from a member who thinks that Morne is the ideal flyhalf.  Why is Morne a bench player for Stade Francais and only starts when Plisson is not available? It is because Morne plays the Jake White style of rugby donkey-kick the sh!t out of the ball - that is Jake's style of rugby .

Morné has never been one to kick exclusively, even when the gameplan is to kick for territory. Statistically Carter has kicked more than Morne, so he must be a donkey too? Now there's logic for you! Why don't you educate us all, seeing as you are so smart, and tell us exactly what is obsolete in Jake's approach.

Ag foeitog.  There is a difference between strategic kicking - which is accurate as well -and aimless and inaccurate kicking.  Carter is the personification of strategic kicking - Morne the personification of aimless and inaccurate kicking.
I do not need to tell you what is obsolete about White's game plan - just look at the game plan the Sharks last year.  The Sharks got to the semi-final of the competition by accident and then was dumped out ingloriously playing the Jake White game plan.   if you cannot see the deficiencies in that plan - then I cannot he lp you.

I love this, Morne never kicks accurately but yet exerts pressure on the opposition with the boot whilst winning the territory battle!
You are beyond hilarious.

This from a guy who rates the Stade Francais Reject as a flyhalf - what a joke.  His dreams that Morne ever was an effective flyhalf says it all.
"You wouldn't even factor the playoff game in SA which was a huge advantage over travelling to NZ or AUS."

He does not even know what happened in 2012.  The dummy thinks the play-off game against the Reds were in SA - the play-off game was in Brisbane and I do not think there is a place by that name in SA.  The semi-final against the Stormers was in Cape Town the next Saturday.  The Sharks won both games with ease, because the Stormers in 2012  used the same dud game plan Jake used last year for the Sharks.

T he so called dummy is talking about the semi final played in cape town against the Stormers, something you conveniently neglected to mention! Yes the season where they finished third in their conference and only just made the playoffs by a single point having finished in sixth place. Yes that season. And at no point have the Stormers ever played like Jake's sides. If you can't tell the difference then you really are beyond lost.

There was no difference between the Sharks game in 2014 and the Stormers game in 2012 - both were pathetic and both got unstuck in the semi-finals.  Both was known for the chronic inability to score tries and both were epitomized by a backline with no ability to play backline rugby.
The problem in 2012 was Grant - the problem in 2014 Fransie.

Some of the problems in 2014 were Lambie, Swiel, Jordaan and Reinach. All were exposed.
