It is known that Du Preez played no rugby since March and he is "quietly at home". He did the same last year and his match-fitness was extremely questionable in the June test series. There is no reason it would be different this year.

A general to marshall the troops. We need brains on the field- even if he is past his best. The only scrummie that has played very well this year is Faff. Many of them are other small wings playing at 9- and they just cant orchestrate a game plan .
Pienaar is good until he gets under pressure and then resorts to aimless kicks.

Why not reproduce Du preez's stats in the two tests he played in last June instead of claiming no facts and not disputing the statement by providing factual info to the contrary.
Incidentally how many matches has Du Preez played in since June last year and when were those matches?

We missed Du Preez mightily last RC. Played very well last June until injured. As Sha rkbok stated, you need intelligence at 9

Lets be blunt again - Du Preez did not play well in the first Welsh test - he was bog ordinary - and was injured in the second Welsh test after another indifferent performance in that game.
Sure you need intelligence at 9 - but then there must be positive proof that a player used that intelligence to the best advantage of the team.
Is it not so that players who are not match fit are more inclined to suffer serious injury than those who are? Was the reason for that serious injury of Du Preez not the result of lack of match fitness?
In this regard it must be borne in mind there is a virtual continuous list of injuries to players playing Japanese Club rugby when going back to their countries of origin. The reason for injuries has been given in the past as the consequence of the "soft" rugby played by the Japanese clubs and the fact that the clubs only play rugby every alternate week. As a result players going back to the SH countries get injured because of deficient fitness levels. Why should this be different in the case of Du Preez?
