The good news for the Stormers on Thursday was that Duane Vermeulen was back in training for the DHL

Ex Supersport

Vermeulen has been out with a knee injury since April, and the Thursday morning training session was the first time he has been back onto the field since being injured in the victory against the Reds in Brisbane a few months ago. A press conference was still pending, at which Stormers coach Allister Coetzee was due to give full details, but Vermeulen took a full part in the training session and looked good.

The chances of him playing then look promising, with the No 8 having nine days to get back up to speed. Ironically last year he missed the semifinal against Crusaders after sustaining a knee injury just before that, so if Vermeulen does play this time, it will be a pleasing reversal for a man who must surely also come into the equation as a Springbok No 8 for The Rugby Championship if he proves his fitness.

The news on Schalk Burger doesn’t look as good. The appointed Stormers skipper briefly popped into the High Performance Centre wearing casual clothes but played the role of spectator only before taking his leave

Duane back will make a big difference  - very good news this.

Read the post lunatic and you will discover the truth. All this reminds me of the girlie boy tai pan and dorkie dumbo who are spell check fiends none have emmerged here until today . You seem a similar personality to the dork.  Same feel to you. Same nastiness. Only the avatar is different - have to be thankful for that! Dorkie's avatar  was disgustingly perverted.

Asking a question is nasty?  Wow, but you are a sensitive kid...Who are the others you brag about?  I have not seen them post.

I was trying to recall who besides Duane was missing from the Stormers side that played the crusties in the semis at Newlands last year. Was it Bekker? We were definitely understrength.

Duane is a key player. If he is looking good at training he shoud at the minimum get a good spell off the bench.

Ouch its now 158 for 1. A wicket pleeease!

Beeno, we were down to our 6 in the line fly-half when we played the Saders last year. It is crucial that Grant goes the distance this year.

Yes Draad, Grant is key - he is kicking at over 90% and nobody else has really had a shot at flyhalf for us all season.

I had thought there was someone else out in the pack as I remember being unhappy with the side due to injuries. Grant and Duane missing though is significant.

Its now 297 for 6!!
