No way in hell was Jacobs ever superior to JJ......I am happy to debate the credentials of Fourie, Joubert, Mulder etc vs JJ.......but Jacobs was a hopeless failure, acknowledged as such by everyone but yourself.

JJ had better defensive stats against Oz and NZ than Jean did........against NZ he made 12 tackles and missed 1........JJ has 4 tries in 9 starts, that is impressive for a debut year

Jacobs scored 7 tries in 34 tests......hell JJ has 4 in 9......its chalk and cheese

Compare Jacobs's professional career to JJ's......its chalk and cheese stuff.....Adi scored 68 tries in 11 seasons, thats an average of 6 a year.......JJ has scored 53 tries in 5 seasons, thats 10 a year.......I know which player I would be selecting

He was not a failure. He lost confidence in the light of endless negativity in 09. But in 08 he was an excellent centre as his numbers confirm. And he knew how to tackle low when guarding the outside gap.

 

 

You can deride de Jongh, Jacobs and Morne as much as you like. But they have done far more in a practical sense for Bok rugby than Olivier, JJ and Lambie. It's not even a contest.

de Jongh has done nothing for Bok rugby, Jacobs was called revolving door for a reason.....no-one rated him and Morne has kicked his goals for the Boks but provided nothing with ball in hand and has always been a liability in defence. The Boks have been a handy side over the years, but never a special one.......for the sole reason that we have had an average rugby player as our pivot........10 is so important in the context of backline player..........we have been sold down the river here. Morne has never been a good enough rugby player to merit test selection.....he has gained selection on the strength of his boot alone and therein lies the problem.

Give me Olivier, JJ and Lambie over Adi, de Jongh and Morne anyday......its not even close

Well I have made my points and you have made yours. Unfortunately it's impossible to explain away a centre with zero tries in 21 tests, even though you huff and puff.

Had he started at 12 for 21 tests and scored no tries......I'd say you had reason to question him......but we both know the reality of those 21 tests.......so nothing impossible about explaining Olivier.......as I have said, his performances for the Bulls was a better measure of the man as a player.

Olivier was a far, f ar better centre than Jacobs or de Jongh

All class players................Taute and JJ will play for the Boks for years to come

Olivier was unfortunate to have been born when he was, had it been 10 years earlier, he would have had a good Bok career.......far better 12 than the ones that played since re admission except for Jean and Frans and now Serfontein

Nope....they all played starring roles in losing three important tests, by missing crucial tackles.
Olivier missing Jamie Heaslip in a regulation tackle.....try scored, the Boks lose the third Lions test.
Taute misses Israel Dagg in almost no space.....try scored, the Boks lose the 2012 home test against NZ after enjoying an early lead
JJ misses Barrett who runs right into him.....try scored, the Boks lose the 2013 home test against NZ and the Rugby Championship.
Olivier is a trained centre but way too slow for international  rugby. JJ is a wing. Taute is a fullback.

 In one of the chances he did get Olivier got absolutely skinned by quade cooper on the outside to feed James O'Connor for a try, one of his few memorable moments.

 Not sure where Crashball Taute will play for the Springboks. He has allready proved that he is not a centers arse- or maybe he did. 
His kicking game is not up to standard to be an international fullback.

Olivier was unfortunate that he was a part of weakened Bok teams, often with a weak 10 and 13 around him, a vulnerable front row and make-shift back three. The Third Lions test loss was down to Peter De Villiers idiocy. Olivier had some good moments for the boks, like saving the Italian test of 2009. But he was by no means elusive or dominant, just an averagely solid performer that was let down, if by any, his passivity. More often than not over the past nine years he was actually better than Jean. But then Jean is a wing by nature, not a centre.

Taute showed potential, he was actually very solid against Australia and was overall not bad against New Zealand but for stupid defensive lapses. He showed enough potential that I would back him over an extended run, simply because of his feel for the position. He is by no means a basher and runs very good lively lines and actively reads the defence in font of him; often taking up positions for a clear burst for the line or creating options for the ball carrier to either hold a defender and miss him or as a genuine threat in his own right. I like what I saw, and by no means does the flop of 2013 come close to this.

JJ: Yes, that flop of 2013. He has poor hands, is passive, flimsy on defence - being bounced routinely - and is merely a thoughtless, straight track runner by nature - like Digby. He will never amount to anything at test level.

 The Supper 15 is approaching fast and we will then be able to test which players are producing the goods and which not.


We can then make realistic assessments of performances - but I will forecast the following: -


*   The Bulls will do much better than expected because they got rid of some of their passengers - especially Morne Steyn and Juandre Kruger.


*   Engelbrecht will improve his tackling technique;


*   De Jongh will do his normal and produce nothing in this series - with strings of attributes used to flower up his performances beyond recognition by his groupies ;


*    Alberts will have - like last year - the worst performance stats of any loosie in SA because he loafs through games;


*   Pieter-Steph du Toit and Willie will have a top season;


*   Mozart will do his normal and condemn players without even seeing the matches - same as he did last year; aad


*   Sun Tzu and Ceradyne will continue to display zero knowledge of rugby and entertain us massively.

 If the Bulls do better than reach 2nd place, as they did lat year, then it will be because of Matfield shoring the team up and giving them that platform they so desire. But without Morne, their only hope is to hinge on Hougaard and find some kind of cohesion amongst the backs. I predict they will splutter with inconsistency.

de Jongh will be as solid as ever. A key player for the Stormers.

Alberts, the best player in his position in the world, will be monstrous for the Sharks... again!

CleaverSpike will again talk in riddles, lie and display piddles of understanding on any aspect of the game, particularly from a technical standpoint.

Sun stop speaking shit when it comes to JJ......how on earth can you conclude that he has poor hands? Was it poor hands that put Willie into space after beating Savea? That was a brilliantly directed long pass to Willie off his wrong hand. You make this shit up.

 

How the hell can you define him a straight track runner, when he eluded many to score that great try against Samoa......not to mention his beating of Savea on the outside and his stepping of Cruden in the same test........you are clueless.

 

Name a single occasion where he has been bounced?

 

 

Funny you get it completely right regarding Taute and horribly wrong regarding JJ......you are very inconsistent......much like your call on Jean being a wing......that's as bad as your call on Goosen being a 15
