This is the second time I am dealing with this, but such is the case with Michael, you have to revisit old ground ad infinitum. Here is the original article, though seeing a leaner and revitalized Du Preez should have been evidence enough!

This is standard rubbish from you.  Du Preez has not had any rugby for 5 months.  He was so unfit he injured himself at a training session in Japan.  He has as much chance at 33 years of age be mathfit as snowballs surviving in hell.
However, if he plays the object would have to see how he performs on Saturday - I mean real performance not the false stuff you specializes in.

Without doubt performance is what counts. If he can put on a decent performance for 60 minutes and show the rugby brain is still working it will be a plus. Du Preez though for me often takes too long to get the ball out. How much pace has he lost etc. Its the same with Jean. We need to see him play. I believe it likely Jean and Du Preez could add value.

Du Preez has never had a problem delivering the ball. His sense of timing is immaculate, his repertoire of passes the best of all our players. Highly intelligent. Which other 9 can send long passes from the base of a ruck? Certainly none in SA. Very good defender too and faultless positional play and lethal boot. By a long way our best 9, though it must be said Pienaar has improved his ristribution, but not his kicking. Reinach is just a fast man, can't do much else. What a pity Kockot ended in France because of quota Januarie.

Disagree with you there Beeno, Du Preez has some of the crispest service you  could ask for. He's by far the most intelligent 9 there has been, in my opinion. A fit Fourie Du Preez  could determine whether we go out at the semis or win the the thing.

Apparantly if you play in Japan you become a feeble cripple with collapsed lungs and bloat. I don't see the connection myself. I mean seiously, Super rugby is fast, but a league that is even faster and with even more ball in play time? A scrumhalf is going to decrease in fitness running from ruck to ruck? It just doesn't make sense. Eddie Jones stated he was fitter and that's what we got in 2013. Du Preez has given good insight into rugby over there and I have seen it myself having downloaded many games from time to time. As per passing, Michael never regarded Du Preez for his distribution or sniping around the fringes. What I love about Du Preez is his ability to instantly scan the field, see potentiality and create something out of nothing. He is pure genius. Couple that with Pollards neat running and you have a good base tor the backs and forwards to play off.

OK - he has not played for the Springboks since June 2014.   He has barely played any ruby since then because he got injured in training in June after a 4 month lay-off.  Wonderful - his reputation is all that counts - performance is not necessary.  Whenever anybody says we must wait and see what he produces  the BSters goes overboard - how dare anybody says that?
Incidentally since his return to international rugby there was no sniping around the fringes - that has vanished from his game.
Fourie turned up at the training camp in June fat as a pig and was so unfit he was sent packing by Meyer.   Was du Preez in better shape - we will not know because he was injured and could not initially participate in training or any games since June this year.   Has he recovered his fitness and match-fitness?   Ask any questions and the site perverts go bananas.
Lets wait and see what happens in the upcoming games and try to find out whether he answers the questions raised.  My guess is that he may or may not succeed - but lets get an honest opinion first because the biased two twits can never be believed when it comes to performances by their favourites or by the players they dislike.   If his performance is deficient - they would praise it - if he fouls up they would cover it up.  So lets get an honest assessment and then decides whether he deserves support to be in the WC squad.

Wrong again goof! He has done just that many times since! Particularly in that Welsh test last year that you attacked him in. The point is that Du Preez had more talent than any other 9 we will likely ever see. Nobody comes close to him, he is in every way the Dan Carter of scrumhalves. I believe he will be just fine, if you don't then so be it. But to insult the Japanese league just to try and attack Du Preez or anyone else is dishonest. Do you see now where you err?

 Disaster

I gave Du Preez's stats and said they were not impressive at all - not worth the praise-singing you carry on about.   However - go to the discussions on the Bulls victory thread and see your praise-singing there and your turn-around on that issue in your last post.  Getting giddy between the lies you are spreading?
I think you were right about Du Preez in the past - the emphasis in Du Preez's case is on what he produces at present.  So lets wait ad see what happens on Saturday if he is fit enough to feature in the team

hat a joke this one is - Now we know what an idiot Disaster really is.  Any coach(even Meyer)  would laugh in disbelieve if they read that idiocy.
There is a difference between Seuntjies and you though.  Seuntjies uses stats to enhance his claims about players and ignore them if they contradict his statements/fairy tales.  You are simply too ignorant to understand what stats entail .

This is delightfully funny. A statistic is information calculated from a larger sample of numerical data. What you provide is not a statistic, just raw data!

Fourie Du Preez is no longer a test option ...

He ran away to Japan to collect bags and bags of money and it seems he's been having a jolly time ... no game time for 5 or so months ... added a few kilos around the midsection ... grew himself a second chin ... is out of shape and very unfit ... lost the superb kicking game he once had ... is way off the pace of test and super rugby because of the poor standard of play in Japan ... and should seriously consider retirement.

We have much better scrummies available than this ex-bull hasbeen ...

The only reason he'll be included in the Bok side is because of his personal relationship and friendship with that fool of "coach" Meyer ...

Merit has nothing to do with it ...

Du Preez, for those who doze away while watching the game  , quite often likes to wait until all his ducks are in a row. There is nothing wrong with his ability to pass a ball its the waiting too long at times that kills it. Next problem. Du Preez used to be effective in sniping runs. He didnt do much of that in recent games for the Boks. He appears to have lost a yard.
Do the oaks ever really see what is happpening. Sigh!
Beeno spot on and realistic as always.
I see Mike you on the right track. A breath of fresh air!
Ou CC if merit is not the criteria what is?
If Du Preez is good enough let him be selected. Its all so simple really!

When your wife and children kiss the coach in greeting at the braai gathering .. this makes you eligible for selection.

When your families exchange Christmas gifts at the end of the year ... this makes you eligible for selection.

When the coach is invited over for your children's birthday party ... this makes you eligible for selection.

If you just so happen to have played for the same team the coach coached years ago ... then you're eligible for selection.

Basically if your home friends ... you'll play for the national team.

Victor is also a part of this close little group of mates.

Merit isn't a priority.

Clear enough beandip??

Meyer wants the security of proven players with deep experience he will then combine this with youth, e.g. Pollard, Kriel. He will take a look at du Preez to see if he has enough left to fit the criteria of calm experienced head. Give they guy a run & see what he has would be my approach.

How many years should an "experienced" "proven" player (be it years ago) still be eligible for selection AFTER he can no longer cut the mustard?

Up to the age of of 38 perhaps?

What can this proven player contribute to the team that a younger, stronger, quicker, hungrier player cannot best with his eyes closed?

Yes he may have a 100 test caps ... what does that do for the team ... why does that push him to the top of the selection list?

Yes he may have played against all the top teams in the world ... what does that do for the team? ... why does that push him to the top of the selection list?

Is that all one needs to to be eligible for a spot in the national side?

When does form come into the mix?

How about merit?

Is the history of each player more than sufficient to warrant selection?

Caps & Experience takes priority over smokin hot form!!

Madness!!

Stability & calmness under emended pressure. That is what Meyer is looking for. Du preez may no longer have it but Meyer wants s look. A guy like Faf would be terrific but how stable will he be? Meyer needs to assess the young guys too.

So it's ok then to select mediocrity for the purpose of having calmness in the team, huh?

That's going to challenge other teams for top honours is it?

Calmness?

We'll have a layed back, calm team, with a 1000 caps and tons of experience playing at the world cup ... while the on form talent sits at home watching the entire show on TV.

Are you kidding me??

Ask yourself a question Just Win ... if the talent we have in South Africa were New Zealanders, would they have been brought a little closer to the mix? Players like Faff and Jaco Kriel but to mention a few.

Naholo was brought in IMMEDIATELY after the season he had ... so was Fekitoa.

How was their state of calmness?

Did they impress?

Are they now future All Blacks?

Why is that?

I am all for stability and calmness provided the experienced players providing stability and calmness,   When I raised the issue of Francois Steyn and asked why Mozart and Disaster supports him - also if they could provide incidents where he did what they say he is capable of since 2012 - you should have seen the response.
Ultimately they produced no examples of top class play of Steyn since 2012.  Then I asked them how they can rate Steyn without any performance, they went ballistic and started about how Steyn's presence in the team frightens and paralyzes opposition players and Steyn does not need to do anything to be effective.  Mozart went even further and that players are "seuntjies".
It became clear that performance is not a consideration/requirement in their support of players and that the presence of some players according to them only need to be there to make opposing players scared out of their wits.
There arguments are always the same - criticize players like Coetzee, De Jager and De Allende endlessly - using misrepresentation and lies to support their arguments - but never produce proof that the players they support produce anything.
I found that the two must be totally void upstairs with the BS they came up with.
