Looks like the Sharks will be trading Fred Zeilinga for Joe Pietersen if recent reports are to be believed.

You can read the full article here.

The bit I found funny in that article was this extract:

"Pietersen has previously spent time in France with Bayonne and Biarritz, with any potential move to the Sharks meaning the Durban-based side would be covered when Pat Lambie goes away to the Rugby World Cup."

Haha! Anyone want to have a guess who will be frothing at the mouth and going all purple-faced with rage at the highlighted comment?

The Sharks are clearly looking for short term solutions with the recruitment of all these geriatric players.
Hoffman at 9 was a disaster. If he ever was SuperXV standard it was a very long time ago.
Zinger at 10 has been a disaster this season.  Joe Pieterson is certainly an upgrade- but a short term one.

I always liked Joe Pietersen as a player - a clever player who has done things rarely done by other players.    He will do well for the Sharks since he can also play at full back.
In the case of Zeilinga I think he is young and can develop as a flyhalf.  The style of rugby played by the Sharks since the departure of Plumtree stifles player development as it takes away from them the opportunity to read games and take decisions to the advantage of the team.   Lambie was already a player who could do that and when Zeilinga originally played he looked promising.   When White took over the robotic play ensued and Zeilinga looked poor and undecided in games.
Going to the Cheetahs under a less regimented regime may yet see a positive development in the case of Zeilinga.

The Sharks keep making pathetic calls......another old man in Joe on the books.

I don't rate Zeilinga at all, so getting rid of him makes sense
