Louw is such and ordinary player has never achieved much at test level......Jaco Kriel is simply awesome.
If size is so important for an openside then how has Hooper become the best 6 in the game?
Jaco Kriel should have played test rugby 3 years ago........test rugby will come easily to this guy.......much like it would for players like Kitshoff, Willemse and co.
Its not even close between him and Louw, Jaco is ten times the player
There are at least 5 players in SA that I would play ahead of Louw at 6......with Jaco topping that list

From the Daily Telegraph on Richie

McCaw, 34, also gave unique insight on Friday into how he has kept complacency out of his all-conquering All Blacks.

“I think back to 2003, we won by 50 points here which was pretty amazing really, and then three months later we lost the semi-final of the World Cup here to the same team,” McCaw said.

“That’s a memory I always have is how quickly things turn around in sport.”

McCaw, who was just 20 when he made his international debut and still recalls knocking on with his first touch against Ireland in Dublin, added: “I wasn’t even 100kg when I started, you probably wouldn’t get away with that these days.

 Mozart
You apparently refuse to recognize what I wrote above about the weight of McCaw.  That was not even rejected as incorrect by Luke or anyone from NZ.
In the best period of McCaw's playing career (ie from 2002 to 2012) he never weighed more than 102 kgs - his weight only increased during his sabbatical in 2012 to 108 kgs.  The weight increase resulted in a noticeable loss of speed and effectiveness.   That was clearly illustrated in the examples quoted above.
Kriel's weight is given before matches as 102kgs so he did bulk up and I rather believe that that is his weight at present.
I know that you rate loosies based on weight only - that is why you are addicted to players like Alberts - apparently the norm does not apply to locks.  Alberts weighed 125 kgs and was by some distance the worst loosie that ever played for the Springboks.
The argument about Kriel and Whiteley is equally strange - Whiteley plays at 8 - Kriel at 6.   The fact is that they operate as ca combination and is regarded as very effective in recent years.   Loosies operate as a unit even though each one his a slightly different function to perform.   The Springbok loosies never operated as a unit since Meyer took over in 2012.  That was because the playing style required was so different.
Meyer wanted Alberts as a battering ram - not as a loosie perse.  You apparently shared the same viewpoint - because you frequently trumpeted that issue and even went so far as to say that locks like Matfield can fulfill the Loosie function and Alberts the Tight 5 function normally expected from a lock,   The other issue is that Louw was more effective as a blindsider - but did better as a loosie in NH conditions - because of his lack of speed.
In the Meyer loosie environment your argument is a lost one.   Whiteley could not perform in a loosie environment as used by Meyer.  He was required to play at 7 - while in fact he is normally an 8.   He did not and could not be used as a battering ram.  A perfect illustration was what happened in the recent WC - where Meyer required from Burger to be the battering ram loosie and he failed badly.
To assess Whiteley as a 7 in that environment and say he was a failure on Springbok level really is a joke.  Whiteley could never play the game plan Meyer used so failure assessment is very superficial and very inaccurate.  Whiteley would be a very good loosie in other SH teams - in SA under the stampkar environment so beloved by Meyer he would fail.

Mozart\He may have reached 105 by 2010 - but that was never reflected on the teams sheet shown before matches.  It took him 8 years to get from 100 kgs to 105 kgs and then 6 months to get to 108 kgs,
I do accept that there could over the years be a slight increase in weight from 100 to 102 and probably by 2010 to 105 - but the main increase occurred while he was on his sabbatical.  I am sorry - but the liar in this case was you - with your 110 kgs,  McCaw was never at 110 kgs ever.

Mozart - sorry but most real openside loosies do not weigh in the category above 108 kgs,  One of the best opensiders in Super 15 is Ardie Savea and his weight is 99 kgs.  You can play baby elephants in NH conditions - in SH conditions an opensider weighs considerably less because of speed requirement as well.

 From ESPN 2007

McCaw (Canterbury, captain)

Age 26. Tests 55. Height 1.87m. Weight 106kg.

Stop digging Mike. He was nowhere near 102kgs for most of his international career. Officially listed at 108kgs before the WC....my guess is he played at about 110kgs.

You now claimed he was 106 kgs in 2007 and he was 105 in 2010 while in game after game his weight was given as 102 kgs,   That makes it very dubious that he did weigh much more.    But I am prepared to accept that he did show some increase in weight over the years.
He never ever played at 110 kgs - with respect your guess is absolutely worthless in this case.

Being a certain weight (100 kgs or 108 kgs) doesn't guarantee you will be a great player. If it did I would be su cking in meat pies
