You miss my point I’m saying Munster employee the correct tactics given the underfoot conditions, they played it narrow, whereas the Stormers tried to take it wide playing their usual style which was a complete flop. They literally looked like they were treading water In effect Dobson the coaches failed his team That pitch is a disgrace unless it’s been raining in CT for hell knows how long

That's why the side is named "STORMERS".

Most games that I have attended in Cape Town it's either raining or getting blown away plus both these teams are suited to the wet conditions.

Not disputing that they are the better side in SA rugby but you have to admit that they did not show up for the FINAL.

Acknowledging that they are the better SA team surely shows that SA rugby sides are under performing and that the talented players are mostly playing overseas.

Second stringers.

Totally agree...what a disappointment and anticlimax to a good season...they had the opportunity to claim back to back trophies but they couldn't make the home advantage count.

The Irish model is very all weather. That's the part of their patterns that intrigued me most. It's a fast moving fluid system that doesn't overly commit to crash balls, pick and goes, or wide-wide attacks. Their base patterns can be used all over the field. Wet, dry, it doesn't matter.

Well it was very evident on the day that the Stormers still tried to play a hard surface style of rugby on a soft underfoot surface. It was suicide Dobson should have known better and if nothing else, changed the tactics for the second half

I guess it was in hindsight but it had worked for them in the previous rounds on the same pitch.

That pitch on previous occasions was certainly not in that condition There was zip in the Stormers attack which is only possible on a hard surface, which was not the case in the final Dobson realised that the likes of Fourie and Dayamani were nullified by the underfoot conditions and replaced them with the bulkier and more physical Jason-Dixon and Steenkamp in the second half but failed to change the game plan Munster had it spot on playing it narrow, you can’t play a expansive game when you are treading water on a mosh pit

Stormers management have advised the media that their new hybrid pitch is being supplied from Germany, and that the reason for the current state of the pitch for Saturday's final, was because the stadium had already hosted 48 events this year, and that one of those events was a monster truck show.

"and that one of those events was a monster truck show."

The problem...the pitch was covered for that, but it still got da.aged and never really recovered after that...the exceptionally wet early wonter in the WC didn't help either.

I would have thought Dobson was better than that - he should have changed things 15 minutes into the game. It’s also the very reason the very physical Andre Smith should have been on the bench if they insist on playing the utterly useless Orie Had they brought on Smith, Jason-Dixon and Steenkamp early on and played it narrow they might and should have had a better outcome

Agree that our pack was way too light. I like Dyamani but he simply couldn’t dominate the collusion wish is criminal for a number 7.

I would have had a much heavier pack and gone back to our DNA. Stormers opted for 5/2 bench too. It only showed once the heavier pack came on.

Marie is one of those players that is an enigma, sublime skills but chokes and will cost you the game, Elton Jantjies is the same. Once you rattle them, they simply can’t cope.

Also not that Munster pressured them and didn’t try to commit to the ball carrier. Allow them to run sideways and let the touch line win as well as running away from their support. School boy errors. Jantjies should never have started.

Willemse had no impact on the game, maybe one good cover defence tackle but got caught at the back.

But looks like the Stormers are trying to bring Schickeling back. They should also bring Botha back. Both players are over 120kg and will help the stormers.

I prefer explosive power to weight. I've lost count of heavy South African front rows that were tipped to obliterate their much lighter opposition, only to be crumpled like a coke can.
