We bludgeoned Scotland into submission, and that's about as much as you can say for that performance. We kicked too much, and poorly. Our phase attacks were often a shambles with players standing around in bundles and getting in each other's way. Effective backplay virtually non-existent thanks to forwards all over the place and the ball going farther than De Allende maybe once. For all the criticism over the years of Jean's lack of distribution skills, De Allende is no better in that respect.
This was pretty much a final for us, so I guess you can excuse the overly conservative approach in the first half in particular. I'm just wondering what we're going to do against a pack that gains parity with ours. Hopefully there's a plan B for when we can't bash over them.
Pollard the best back, what a force he was on defence in particular with the intercept pass his only blemish. Etzebeth the best forward.
Good win in a do or die situation, but plenty of room for improvement.

It was a pretty boring match. South Africa dominated the collisions and were decent at the breakdown. The kicking in the first half seemed to work well as the Boks were playing the game in the oppponents half

Pakie - sorry to disagree but the best player today was De Jager. Etzebeth did very well, but I think De Jager did better and I think the panel discussing the game gave the MOM award to him. It was mentioned that eh was the MOM in any event.

Pollard, JP, Habana among the backs.....Etzebeth and Burger among the forwards. Lomp cost us 10 points, and although he did some decent mauling , the MOM was a laugh.
We still don't have any contribution from the centres. Kriel was ok on defence, but without space these guys have no way of contributing Allende was pathetic on defence, and never in the picture. At times you wondered if he was still on the park. He tractored in a few meaningless. Runs, but never connected.
Our centres are our biggest issue going forward.

Are you completely off your trolley by your statement above. Your statement on De Jager has basically nothing to do with the game today and is entirely based based on prejudice. You specialize in writing a lot of BS on the site - but this is near the top of the list,
There is a bigger issue in that game and one is the Jannie du Plessis issue, He is just not up to standard in scrumming and a serious liability in other aspects of the game. Yellow card is just not on. And JP giving away three penalties was another head ache.

My impression was that DA was solid enough on defence, as you'd expect he would be against a blunt force attack like that of the Scots. Will watch the game again for a closer look when a recording is available.

Hahahahahahahahha I was wondering how Dr Mozzzzzz would try to counter the widespread praise for Lood's magnificent perfromance.
Enjoy the crow Dr Mozzzz, Or is it EGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Whahahahahahahahahaha
The oaks must understand is that Meyer played this game conservatively. Win it through his forwards. With two locks he knew his forwards would do the job. Bash it up the middle. Rolling mauls. There was none of the flair we saw in the tri antions and in the match against Nz where our backs clearly outplayed theirs.
Now the question is has Meyer reverted to very conservative rugby or will we again see a more balanced approach. R ight now Meyer may not be wanting to show what he has.

I will watch the game later, but must say Beeno, Australia outplayed our backs this year. So much so it was embarrassing! We had the edge at the breakdown in the first half, but they tightened up in the second and turned the screw. Against NZ our backs did nothing constructive, though Damian was clearly more present than the unusually languid Nonu. All four centres in that game were scrappy in a pretty ugly test. Again, we dominated the breakdown. Argentina dominated our backs as well. So too Japan.

One penalty for points, one lost ball...and one lineout ball lost to Grey on the 5 metre line, with a try awaiting the maul.
A ten point swing. No egg,

You are and remain a total idiot. You missed three key plays of DE Allende altogether - three key turnovers of ball possession at breakdowns when the Scots were on the attack - but obviously that counts for nothing in your book.
You have to blame De Jager for something and you remain utterly stupid when it comes to De Jager. You want him out of the team to make for weak Matfield who would not have had any role in any maul situation.
The more I read about your interpretation of games the more I get convinced that you actually only where you can find fault with players you do not like and keep dead quiet about players you like when they foul up. So what can we take from your contributions - nothing of any value whatsoever. If you mention anything about Jannie's yellow card and his atrocious scrumming it would have indeed been seriously surprising. And what about Pietersen's three penalties. Not a word.

Michael, Michael... tisk, tisk, tisk... you fathom the gall to attack another member when you yourself do not know why you believe what you do? If you were wise you would lay low until my review is posted. You never know what you don't know know.
Then watch it more closely, have an exorcism and return. You would stun us all with your reformed ways and speaketh not the forked taal.

Simple facts. The rest of Lomps game was fine. But against a sophisticated pack we will need the skills of Matfield.

The very last thing we need is the weakest lock playing rugby. His subtle skills - bwahahahaahah - his backline skills are useless and he is slow. Lets hope the show ponie's injury only heals after RWC.
Nope Meyer must act and show the show pony the door.

As for Allende, I know the facts are a bit pesky....but once again he tackled poorly. And for all his supposed running he made 2 metres a run and nothing resulted. Compare that with the brilliance of 33 year Giteau....plodder and artist.

How about mentioning the three possession turnovers he effected as well - but obviously you use stats when you think it fiys your arguments and lose out everything else not reflected in ststs
Why are you using stats - but if anybody else them they are irrelevant?

I "knows" nothing about the game? But at leastI didn't predict the Boks would lose to Samoa and exit before the QFs...egg face.
04 Oct 2015, 09:29#20
De Allende and Lood are boys of class and definite musts for the future.
Kriel doesn't impress me. Vorster and Mapoe are better options.
The Goats still need to take their new found confidence up against better opposition.
Japan's smashing of Samoa puts the Samoan victory into perspective.
Scotland were poor ... they never presented the Goats with a challenge ... how the Goats ever lost to them before is mind boggling.
Lots and lots of dead wood to cut away.
JP, Habana, Schalk, Louw, Alberts, Pienaar, Beast and of course Jannie must all go.
I doubt we'll see the useless Coenie and Kirchner again ... and thankfully Morne hasn't made an appearance yet. Keep it that way, Mr Meyer.
I think Pakie's opening post is rather accurate and it makes me wonder just how poor Scotland had to be to lose this match to a Goat side in such disarray?

Lood was easily the MOM....as the commentators here in the UK correctly pointed out - there is no way Vic can be selected again after that...that coming from François Pienaar, Sean Fitzpatrick and Lynagh.

We were physically impressive thanks to Lood, Etzebeth, Bismark and Schalk but it was sad to see all the aimless kicking.
That physical domination should have been used to have our exciting centre pair run riot and brought the impressive Willie more into the game.
We saw a far better Bok side on the park but useless Meyers game plan is flawed

Same was with the commentators for the SA broadcast. Mozart is doing his normal - he is trying to discredit De Jager - because of Matfield as well as the panel discussing the game afterwards. Taine Randall was on the panel as well. One cannot understand why all these people are stupid and only Mozart, Desert idiot and Pakie know it all.
The other issue I asked the chorus of Mozart, Desert (Stupid) Fox and Pakie was what Meyer's game plan on Saturday was? They go on criticizing the centers without really knowing what Meyer's instructions were. I believe De Allende's instructions were to carry the ball into traffic and ensure that we retain ball possession. The fact that De Allende effected 3 possession turnovers at breakdown situations by showing massive upper body strength went straight over their idiotic heads.
04 Oct 2015, 11:21#25
De Allende was clearly following orders.
We all know the Bulls structures for their inside center is to be a crash ball runner ... every day ... all day long.
Actually I thought that was pretty much obvious.
Seems Moffie and his inbred friend need to be spoon fed here as well.
I thought they we so in tune with Meyer and his ways.

It's a cry for help or something. Imagine being stupid enough to actually verbalise it on here. Geez
