Hendricks signs with Stormers

Springbok winger Cornal Hendricks is the latest player heading to Cape Town after signing a two-year deal with Western Province.

The speedster, who originally made his name at international Sevens level, will return to his roots as a Stormers player - having played his early provincial rugby for Boland, before becoming a full-time Sevens player in 2012 and then joining the Free State Cheetahs in 2014.

Hendricks, 27, made his Test debut in June of last year, whilst the 2013 Springbok Sevens Player of the Year was also a key member of the Commonwealth Games Gold medal-winning SA Sevens team in July 2014.

In all, he has played 11 Tests (as well as an additional match against the World XV) for the Springboks, scoring five tries - including a try on debut against Wales and a memorable solo score against the All Blacks in their hard-fought Rugby Championship tussle in Wellington in September 2014.

At 1,89m and 90 kg, he is an ideal wing signing for the Stormers, with WP Director of Rugby Gert Smal telling the www.iamastormer.com website: "Cornal is tall and fast, which is what you need out wide at Super Rugby level, and he's also a proven performer at international level.

"He is a local player who is coming home to his roots, so it's an exciting signing for us on many levels. We look forward to seeing him in DHL Stormers colours come 2016."

 This seems like the wrong call. We need fly halves, scrum halves, hookers who can throw straight ....not wings. So far we have signed Hendricks who can't tackle and Stephanie who seemingly plays about 20 per cent of the time.

Need a flyhalf desperately with Cat leaving.
Have a feeling we end up with Boshoff or Potgieter. 
Would like to see Kolbe given a run at scrumhalf.

 Bad call from the Stormers in this case.  As Mozart said they need a reasonable flyhalf and there is no sign of one coming forth yet.   They also need a good center and that is also missing - since De Villiers will also retire and they have a serious 13 problem in his absence.  Maybe Jones and Kotze will provide the necessary cover in that case.      

 Hey windpomp what dont you understand about coming home to their roots. Someone explain all this to the lad!Hendricks is nice addition to the squad. Senatal spends most of the year with sevens so van Wyk and Hendricks are not bad at all. Allende and Jean at centre and Kolbe at 15.
Yes as Dr Moz says we need flyhalves scummies and hookers. Wouldnt mind Jessie Kriel signing on for us. They will be the Bok pairing. Like Eben and Du Toit.
Smal is certainly roping in some good players. Will Marcell Coetzee be taking the step up to becoming a Mighty Stormer?
